    A nice tip is to end going "south" so your locs end up laying flat. That way you won't have locs sticking out in different directions, which is especially more noticeable if you have short locs like mine lol

      @kathiesutherland7861 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Petra Pitter Duncan but when you end off with South.. .you end up with the Y shape

    Hello!
    Many of you have asked what are the pros/cons or advantages/disadvantages of each type of rotation. For example, why would one do the 2pt rotation over the 4 pt rotation, vice versa, etc...
    I actually do not currently know enough about the nuance differences between the rotation types to answer that question. However, I have heard from some loctitians that different hair types do better (or worse) with different rotation types. If you are in the position where you are wanting to start your locs via the interlocking method and unsure of which rotation would be best for you *I suggest you do 3 test locs (one of each rotation type) and give it a week or two to see how your hair behaves in each loc type.* From there choose which rotation type is best for *your* hair.
    I personally used the 2 pt rotation to start and retighten my interlocks and I love my results. I feel like my locs are "fluffy" because of the less restrictive nature of the 2 pt rotation. My guess is that if you want a smooth, rope like finish the 4 pt rotation would be better suited for that (with the 3 pt rotation giving results somewhere in the middle).
    I hope this helps! Happy locking!

      @mariagrace7652 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Do you still believe this to be true? That a 2 point rotation will allow your locs to be “fluffier.” I’ve been following your journey for a while, and I have been locd for 7 months with interlocking. I’m curious if your own experiences still lead you to think this is the case with the different rotation methods.

    The 3 point is confusing to me. It seems as though, when you go to do the 2nd rotation, it changes. Can you do another video for the three point. I'm researching interlocks and I think I like the 3 point best. I saw one girl go from side one to down, then side two, and back to down, so it look like side down, other side down. Is that considered a 3 point rotation?

    • @mrsprimo999
      @mrsprimo999 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      if you think of dividing the section into thirds instead of quarters it makes it easier. In other words, each rotation begins at one point of a TRIANGLE, not one side of a square. Hope that helps :)

      @ridahking3708 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Great Demo! However, I always interlock on damp hair. I just stop short of one rotation. For instance, if I am doing the 3 point rotation and feel like I can do one more rotation I would just stop and not complete it. It is true that if you tighten to the roots on damp hair when it dries your scalp will hurt. Practice makes perfect! Currently 6 1/2 years in and my hair is way longer than I ever thought it would be. Love having natural hair.

    Finally! i've been looking for more info on 2 pt rotation, as I heard it produces a thinker loc but might create more holes in the locs. I'm not sure about that but I've definitely noticed a lot more slippage at the roots. Doesn't really bother me though, in comparison to the 4 pt rotation which feels pretty tight.
    Thanks for the demo!

    I know this is a frequently asked question here in the comments, but could you please make a video talking about the pros and cons of each rotation? I've heard of the 3 and 4 point rotations, but what's the benefit of the 2 point? Thanks in advance!

    • @Bindi_Marc
      @Bindi_Marc  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks for commenting.
      Sadly, I don't currently know enough about the nuance differences between the 2, 3, and 4 pt rotations to answer that question. I just know how to do them. I actually use the 2 pt rotation on my own locs (for my initial install and now for retightening). I use this one simply because its quicker.

    • @XandriaPolish
      @XandriaPolish 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hey It's Renée I've wondered this myself and it is DIFFICULT to find conclusive answers to this question. The anecdotal information I've found on various forums, videos, and blogs suggest that a 2 pt rotation would result in a looser weave that allows your loc to be "fluffier" vs more compact and dense like a 4 pt rotation.
      I've done some trials on yarn and that seems to be true so I am experimenting on myself w my own starters.

    • @renee6025
      @renee6025 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      xandria20 Sounds good! I think I'll go with that route as well. I want my locs to be on the thicker/fluffier side too, and since I have 207, I definitely don't want to be retightening for hours.

    • @DorecaDelbridge
      @DorecaDelbridge 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      xandria20 thanks for that input. I've started my locks with braids and now I wish I'd started with a 2 point rotation simply because I have very fine hair and I would have loved a fluffier and fuller locks. I have done the front part not I'm not sure if I'd have to take them down and start again or what :(

    Where did you get you're mannequin head? Question re: 3 point rotation: Please explain why you go: (N,E, S) for first rotation then (E, N,S) for the 2nd rotation? I would assume it would be (N,E,S) the (N,E,S) again for the 2nd rotation.

    • @Bindi_Marc
      @Bindi_Marc  7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      If you go N, E, and **South** and then start the next rotation going **North** ...
      The *south* and *north* passes will cancel each other out. In essence you will have just *undone* your work.
      You cant go south, and then north. When you do that you are unravelling the interlock you just made.
      Hence the reason you go N,E,S and then E, N...

      chianteb19 I believe its The tightness of the pattern. 2 and 3 are more loose and 4 makes a tighter lock. I go back and forth between 3 and 4. I started with a 3 but my 4a hair slips out, so I switch to a 4 when needed. Overtime each pattern has a different appearance from a looser hair look to a tighter smoother look.

      JoyceMD I think she wants to know about the stray hairs that grow out of the loc. For me I have to 1st separate my hair, comb loose hairs, wrap the loose hair around the loc, then do my rotation. I am only 8 months in but this process works for me. Plus going 6-weeks are too long for me not for hair growth but for the hair growing away from the loc so everu two weeks during wash day. I separate, comb, then wrap my hair no interlock. Then about week 6 I do the process over with interlocking. Hope this is helpful.

    😍😍😍😍😍 love your video. I keep shying away from LOC clients constant request for Interlocking as I'm not a Licensed Loctician;yet your thorough tutorial gave me such needed confidence💪🏿 I may just start accepting a few clients with a SIGNED DISCLAIMER during their consult. 💁🏽‍♀️#Each1Teach1 #ImMySistersKeeper

    Still debating which rotation to use for my starter locs

      It depends on The size you want your lock to swell too. A four point rotation makes a tight compact lock, two point is loose. You can start with one rotation then switch to another as your locks begin to mature. Whichever method you choose be sure to braid and band your locks when you wash so they will not slip or unravel .

      Msbmaxey8 I have tight 4c curls but my parting made some twist larger than others so I'm considering 4 point on the larger ones and 3 or 2 point on the smaller ones to even them out. Is this a good idea? Would they end up the same size?

      Will rotation 3 have it tight enough not to look so fluffy

      GoldFire Taylor sorry for the late response. I would try to do them all with the same pattern. Again as they mature you can switch from a four point to a three or something similar. I think doing different patterns, especially a four and a two is too much variance.

      Perfect idea. That's how SL are done. Depending on the area (sides vs back) a different rotation will be used to give a different result (front which is fine will have a (for example : 2 point rotation) so that it's fuller versus a 3 or 4 point rotation in the back (more hair) which is tighter.
