TALK TALK is one of those British bands that's extremely underrated. Thank you for reminding me.... need to listen more to them. The VOICE of vocalist Mark Hollis is sooo GOOD, such a significant and unique voice! OMG... he passed last year... I didn't know. WoW, such a loss :'( RIP
Montreux 1986 is one of the best live performances I have ever seen, so many great tracks. Ian Curnow’s synth solo on this track 5:36 is mesmerising and takes you to another place 👍
5 albums, 6 if you include the Mark Hollis solo album; a musical evolution that for me is analogous to first flight and landing on the moon. A true genius, and retrospectively hugely influential to much of post-rock in the 90’s and beyond.
Way ahead of their time, especially the last three albums and Hollis’s solo. They eventually became Radiohead ten years before Radiohead went down the same road. Only one of two opening bands (the other English Beat) I saw that became favs of mine.
Dying your hair to complement the backdrop painting is some ballsy fashion. 😎 Talk Talk putting so much energy, passion and musicianship into their live performances, amazing!
Never heard of this band before, maybe because they were active 1981 - 1991 when I was far too busy for popular music. However this was quite enjoyable, especially instrumentally. I also googled the lyrics & learned that this song is about Luke Reinhart’s “The Dice Man,” wherein the main character uses a roll of the dice to determine his daily actions and add a measure of uncertainty to his otherwise mundane life, which is borne out by the line “The dice decide my fate.” “A life on every face” is reference to the face of the die, each one reflecting a different path for the narrator to follow and a different life for him to live.
Talk Talk is the shit. You can see the moment Mike just melts into goo. I love seeing that moment when the mental fist pump happens. When you’re just overwhelmed by how fucking awesome they are. Yeah. That’s my kink.
the collor of spring was 1 of the the 5 albums i got for my 18th birthday a long long time ago together with a rolling stones, U2 and depech mode and 1 i forgot
This was a lovely performance. Could you please put a link to the original video in the description field? The sound recording in this one was not top notch but it doesn't take away from the experience. Musicians do act much more creative on their performances when they are on stage at Montreux. I love listening to live recordings from this festival.
@dirkbogarde44 I never cared for cool looks etc, the music is what is important to me. Looks and talents are two completely different things. You can look good as hell but can't play/sing a decent song.
Hello! Thank you for the video! Please react to Wicked Game songs, Into The Sky, Take On Me🌞🌞🌞DIANA ANKUDINOVA is a talented young singer. I would like to know your opinion. I think you will be surprised. Diana has a very unusual voice and artistic presentation for her age.🌹🌹🌹 Thanks in advance
I was eight years old when this song came out. To put it in context here: I'm Dutch and back when I was a kid, didn't speak a word of English and let's be honest: an eight year old SHOULDN'T go through the things this song speaks of. So I didn't have a clue about the song's meaning (I found out a decade and a half later when I started LIVING what this song is about) but even at Eight years old I already understood that the song was NOT a happy song, even with Mark smiling and grinning in the music video, the song, simply didn't SOUND happy.
You wouldn’t be the first person disappointed by me. I did have a migraine that day, as well as having heard this song nearly every single day of the 15 years Mike and I have been together, because it’s his favorite. Or it could just be that not every person feels exactly the same way you do, about every song. That’s allowed. - G
To me, some of Talk Talk's music doesn't stand the test of time and sound a bit too much 80's to me, but this song is very good. I understand why you like it so much.
2 Favourites, that song and your dress. Love content on a non-sexust, great music way too. Thanks to both for your passion for amazing music. Cheers from the UK.

Los ingleses son los mejores músicos

Rest in Peace Mark Hollis. 4 January 1955 - February 2019 . A unique and distintive voice .

My favorite band! Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock has kept me sane since the late 80’s 😊
The Cure,Talk talk,The Mission,Sisters of mercy,Duran Duran,A-Ha,Depeche Mode and many more...the best of the 80s!!!
ABC
yes!! tears for fears!! also!!
Brilliant version, Brilliant band , totally head and shoulders above their contemporaries
It's My Life is still one of my favorite albums, more than 35 years later.

One of the best bands in the 80’s!!
The Colour of Spring is literally the first LP I ever bought. I absolutely love Talk Talk.
Way ahead of their time, especially the last three albums and Hollis’s solo. They eventually became Radiohead ten years before Radiohead went down the same road. Only one of two opening bands (the other English Beat) I saw that became favs of mine.

🤣🤣🤣 Which came first, the hair, or the backdrop? 😉 - G
The heart of the 80s was in Hollis voice and Talk Talk songs.

Woah! That’s messing me up, right now! 🤣 - G
talk talk ever my biggest musical crush 40 years ago, mark hollis remains a unique character.
Brilliant choice, you lovely people, would love you to share more of your reactions, memories, feelings.. much love
Thank you, Richard. It’s truly our pleasure 😊 - G
This track introduced me to the book The Diceman….which was the inspiration for the song….a fantastic, funny, dark book well worth a read
Love this band. Mike is right about Paul Webb and his bass playing; amazing!

Love me some Talk Talk, for sure. - M
You looked like you were in heaven there, Mike😁😁😁It is a great song👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I listen to talktalk everyday, and marks solo stuff,RIP mark
Yeah, Mark's death was one of the very rare times I really felt it when a celebrity died. RIP indeed. - M
Love this song....
Would loved to have seen them live 😢

This is absolutely great but "Life's What You Make It" is even better. Way ahead of its time.
Childhood days 👍👍 So sad Mark Hollis passed away last year.

We usually do! This one was recorded a while ago, and we must have forgotten...

Delain did an awesome cover of this song. Unfortunately, there is only the album audio of it on TH-cam, as far as I know.
You should’ve seen Mike’s face when I read this comment out to him. You just made him SO HAPPY. 😅 - G
@@MikeandGinger So glad to hear it! I hope he enjoys it!
Hollis' voice is so beautiful.
Very good performance
They might not have had the coolest looking band of the time but my, they kicked butt live.
Yes. I'm sad that when I was 15, Montreux might as well have been on another planet, for all the chance I had to get there! -M
@dirkbogarde44 I never cared for cool looks etc, the music is what is important to me. Looks and talents are two completely different things. You can look good as hell but can't play/sing a decent song.
Mark was always completely 'in the moment' at all times!

Ginger disappoints me. Why is she staring blankly like this isn’t the most fuck awesome shit she’s ever heard.

Have you heard their last two albums, and Mark's solo effort? Not only do they stand the test of time, they are indeed timeless!
