    Hey, great tutorial :) i have a question. At 4:34 you made a selection of the back panel. Now for me in the "box" is all black, even when selected, but you have the blue and orange colors. How do you activate the colors?

    • @eyedesyn
      @eyedesyn  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They should be like that by default...which version of C4D are you using?

      im using R18 O.o

  • @aleph618

    Hey EJ, great tutorial. I curious to know why you chose a cube instead of a sphere or capsule. Cheers.

    • @eyedesyn
      @eyedesyn  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Good question! Box modeling allows for more flexibily with the modeling & using a Subdivision Surface allows for adjusting the subdivisions to help speed up the dynamic sims. Spheres and capsules have a lot of unnecessary subdivisions & it's all about keeping the geometry light for fast simulations!

    That's awesome! Amazing tutorial. I am just a little confused on why does the cloth surface does what it does with thickness. It looks great but I always thought it was mostly when working with cloth. Does anyone know?

    • @diogocfelix
      @diogocfelix 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not to sure, but I think the Cloth Surface thickness in here makes that "zoom" feeling of a lense.

    Thank you! EJ! Great tutorial! it really helpful! Can I ask how to export the Googly Eyes video? I want to explore the render Googly Eyes vision not only the edit version. I can use the mouse to control the googly eyes only when it is playing mode. so I don't know how to export the effect. Could you help me to solve the question? Thank you so much!

    Great tut, thanks! Will the dynamics still work if you added position keyframes for the black pupils? Let's say you wanted to have it looking one direction for a few frames?

    • @eyedesyn
      @eyedesyn  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! For that to work you'd need to keyframe the dynamics to turn on by animating it, then when you want it to turn dynamic, keyframe the the Enabled checkbox in the Dynamics Tab on the Dynamics tag!

    I was wondering if you have a tutorial that covers this, or couldn't give some pointers on how to do it, but I want to make digital eyes (think EVA from Wall-E) for a character I'm making. Just not sure on how to go about doing it.

    • @eyedesyn
      @eyedesyn  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check out this tutorial I did for Cineversity for eye animation!

      eyedesyn thanks for getting back! I'll definitely take a look. I came up with a grid cloner technique that uses a shader effector to follow a texture behind my surface material so as the eyes (texture) move, the rectangles disappear and reappear, which looks great in the editor view but in picture render it shows as one object, not my grid, even with render instances off. Hopefully that tut translates to a better method for what I'm looking for.

    Great tutorial but I am afraid after following all the steps, once that I move the eye the inside the black cylinder does not follow the eye, any tip to fix this? many thanks in advance

    URGENT: Hey Master :) It is been more than a year that I am following you and I am totally not good in c4d, but I am getting better I can say with the beautiful tutorial you are making.
    I have a question: How can I change that silly Hdri tree in reflection part of my materials? I am frustrated searching for the solution on the internet and I know it sounds silly question but I really need it.
    regards
    Sina

    • @eyedesyn
      @eyedesyn  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      without that default hdri you wouldn't be able to see any reflections at all if nothing else is there to reflect. so it does makes sense that it's there.
      you either can disable reflections in the viewport menu under "options" all together or change the default hdri by hitting shift + v for the viewport settings and under the enhanced open Gl tab twirl down that little arrow right besides the word reflections, there you can specify another default image to show up in reflections. to make that permanent you need to save an empty file with that change in your program directory as "new.c4d".

    What's the difference between using the correction deformer and making it editable?

    • @eyedesyn
      @eyedesyn  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Making it editable prohibits you from making new subvisions, adding rounding, having access to all the Parametric options. Although it doesn't save much time in this tutorial, using the Correction Deformer workflow is a nice workflow for more complex workflows. Always nice to keep things parametric when you can!

    • @themisterjordan
      @themisterjordan 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The other day I was doing some light modeling and kept wishing I could make my objects parametric again after messing up with the editable versions. I had backups, but I can imagine the Correction Deformer makes this a lot easier!

    why cant i select the back panel? when I set the selection it just makes the whole eye white

    • @eyedesyn
      @eyedesyn  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      you must not have set the selection correctly, check out to make sure you also have the material tag with the material selection to the right of the base material so it's applied on top. materials in C4D work from left (bottom material) to right (top material)

  • @WyattCayer
    @WyattCayer 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    you could just use the dynamic tag on the iris with an ellipsoid shape rather than a low poly parent.

    • @eyedesyn
      @eyedesyn  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, but You wouldnt be able to get the right type of movement as it falls to the bottom, it would always want to try to rotate, so thats where the sharper more rectangular edges come in handy.
