Biggin's Bonnet is highkey phenomenal on basically every speedrun. Free Health and Mana to start, and ED for melee chars as well as your mercenary.
I see whirlwind barbs in classic wearing it late game.
I've been totally unimpressed by Biggin's every time I use it.
Granted, required level is 3 so it's ok for roughly 10 (quick) levels, but I'm always happy to replace it with almost any of the other low-level helms - Coif of Glory, Duskdeep, or Wormskull all seem better to me.
Agreed bro🎉
@@coryj1984Biggin's Bonnet scales much better than the items you named, the more damage your weapon does the better Biggin's Bonnet gets. For melee characters and merc I probably always use it until I can wear a Peasant Crown
Good call, I don't speedrun much (Never) so talking and thinking fast, I forgot the importance of those life and mana amounts early.
Pelta Lunata was the first Unique that ever dropped for me when I was a kid and I got it from an urn in Normal Mausoleum.
Not knowing anything about the game or ARPGs in general I thought:"All right, urns drop insane golden items, let's do nothing else than to smash urns and restart once all urns are gone."
2 weeks I did nothing else than to smash all the inventory in the Mausoleum until I finally continued the story with a completely broken will :D
Haha same happened with hsarsu's iron heel. First green ever. Dropped from the super unique cold guy in the cathedral. Spent hours on end farming him to no avail.
Torch of Iro was one of those items I didn't find until D2R, it is also the coolest looking wand in the game.
The Hand of Broc is originally Leather Gloves, not Demonhide Gloves.
I was gonna mention that when I saw the level req I knew they were upped
i actually just found these the other day and have them in my stash LOL
When I played a lot of d2r I would keep some low level stuff like this because I knew I wanted to level some more characters and it was so much easier and more fun not needing to worry about checking junk drops, just wearing what I have and play.
Another armor i think should have made this list, despite being level 12 required is Blinkbats Form. Its a leather armor a lot of people have never seen and is pretty rare.
yea I miss that one as well lol
Sounds made up
Its crazy that biggins is so rare invhel ive found like 20of em in hell difficulty mostly chaos
Found Lenymo 20 years ago in LOD - forgot this one, so rare it is - thx.
Super nice topic. Haven't watched the video yet but I'm sure it's gonna be great. Phil's got great off the beaten path content
I am a poor player but I play hard core. Because I am so terrified of final death, I play slowly. Which has enabled me to find all of these and multiple copies of most.
Lenymo is my favourite unique sash, that color is so nice
@@RestlessWandererOriginal same
I swear back in the days i was the only one with "torch of iro" on my necromancer. My fave unique ever
Dude , you are one of the best content creators of D2 in entire youtube. keep it commin! Thumbs up from Brazil
All these items are from TC3, the lowest level group (only blinkbat's form, hotspur and gull are missing here). Some of them are difficult to find even on normal. Those with item level 10 need to be farmed in catacombs from regular bosses, those with item level 7 are best sought from a cold crow (she has the best drop rates - rakanishu or treehead woodfist are far worse). Biggin bonnet, rixot keen or pelta lunata can be found even from corpsefire so they aren't as special as the rest. Scepter, short staff and wand are special items, so they have twice less chance of being dropped than regular ones, so despite being level 7, they are the rarest of them. We can say that iro torch is equivalent of dweb, bane ash is equivalent of mang song, and knell striker is equivalent of astreon on normal diff. In hell on lvl 85 areas this special trio is rarer than all TC87 uniques except tyrael's might. Generally drop of these TC3 items in hell is a big waste of RNG for holy grailers :/
Still missing that damned torch of iro and knell striker for my grail along with lenymo 🥲
Those Treasure Class 3 items are quite rare due to the Treasure Class drop calculations... I love to collect them also along with Treasure Class 87 / 84 items. Not alone the unique item, some set item of Treasure Class 3 is also quite interesting like Tancred's Boot which can give you 30% run speed along with 78% MF if couple with Tancred's Amulet which is quite a boost of MF during ladder start when War Traveller is not acquired. Also the Death belt and Death Glove together can give you IAS, high poison resist and cannot be frozen in very early stage.
I found biggins bonnet for the first time in S6. Never knew there was such a unique. Really helped my character starting out, and then merc. Cheers!
Lenymo is a decent upgrade to get the 16 total potion slots, but beware, level requirement is 29.
Bane Ash, Death’s Fathom, and Tyrael’s Might are all that’s left on my grail.
I don’t think I’ve ever found a death web still.
Bane ash one of my favs. Also gladiators bane
Its amazing how rare some of these actually are. I have only found the gnasher and striker once in my d2 career. The others i have found multiples of but its so far spread out over the years, its always fun seeing them.
Lenymo was actually my first unique item I ever found on my first ever paladin when I got my pc in 2001. Somehow it stuck in my memory and even though I've been playing this game for 23 years, I would have sworn I haven't seen it drop more than a couple of times.
i found that a week or 2 ago haha.
Torch of Iro, I used it to make a master mule which have a cube and giving the ability to merge runes or gems and not to go from char to mule and back. From Lvl5 to Lvl17 a +1 necro skill on main hand fits the challenge :)
Thank you Phil, good day
I love to run different characters through so I've seen all of these multiple times. Lenymo is nice on a necro early, since they don't get warmth. Greyform works for mercenaries, giving them resists and some life leech to keep them alive. Hand of Broc is godly for barbs for the dual leech and bonus mana. Match Biggin's Bonnet with Dimoak Hew and you'll be one shotting everything you come across for quite a while. Again with the barbs - you can dual wield two of those crushing blow items for some real boss killing fun. If you find torch of iro early it's not bad for the necro - +1 all skills is a nice boost along with the bonus mana and mana regen (again, no warmth on necros).
I remember having rixot in my stash and using it to level every single mele build I've did. I'm lacking just high level items on my holy grail, and from lower stuff I was missing cow kings hooves, for a long time, but finally farmed normal cows for those. So "just" Templar's, Stormlash and Mangsong's Lesson left for me :D
my brother found a pelta lunata once when we were playing the OG D2 back in 2000. he found it as a below level 10 paladin in tamoe highland. it was a big deal back then since drops on OG d2 discs were not really great (internet was really bad, not to mention very expensive, on our area back then so patches and updates weren't possible for us). yellow items are hard to come by, heck even mana potions can't be bought on town NPCs back then. he finished the game and have not found a replacement for that buckler. i have been playing d2 on and off for more than 20 years and i only managed to get a pelta lunata once back in 2004 when i was playing a sorc and this was on the expansion. i never got it again, even when i played multiple characters to hell on d2r. most of the items on this list though i've picked up multiple times throughout the years of playing d2lod.
I didn't get torch of iro or pluckeye until 96% thru grail. Found both a day apart in hell difficulty. Preciate you, rng!
S2, necro found a Gull in Act I, "Okay, I guess we're going to play MF fishymancer." He still uses it off-ladder to this day, Ist'd.
Dame this subject blew up/viral 1:46 Yah I wish they figured out how to make early game drop these items and sets at the right time. I usually find them after I'm already past the usage of them :(
I love me some good low level items. Will never forget my first Barb ever. Wore two unique weapons around level 11, not sure which ones, but that feeling... Like I could conquer the world, skip to the depths of hell and bring the light!
I finally got arcans valor for the first time. That was the armor back in the day. I wish they would revisit the uniques and set items.
I've found all of it but the Torch of Iro, this tricky wand is still missing from my grail, together with many-many of TC 87 uniques. That's so ironic!
I found a greyform from the top seal boss(iirc) in hell chaos yesterday. I didn’t pay attention to the lvl req at the time. A little over 300mf hammerdin.
Every time I find Pelta, I get psyched. All my characters tend to be melee-focused so those powerups are just so clutch.
The only item from this list I have not personally seen drop in one of my games is the Greyform armor. I, actually, have The Gnasher and Torch of Iro in my stash right now because they dropped for me recently.
Found The Centurion armor the other day. It was pretty low level gear but I had never seen it that I recalled. I like Pelta Lunata and Biggins Bonnet which I seem to find both frequently.
some of those were BIS in classic. or BIS options.. lenymo or nightsmoke was used on sorc. hand of broc or frostburn(for cold dmg) was used on amazon. amazon sorc and necro had uniques for bis, but barbs and pallies all used rares. I've found all of those items quite a bit when I was playing classic in 2000. Mostly all gambled.. for fun, because they were cheap gambles, and uniques from gambling were super common back then. It's funny, that reminds me, I remember posting something about "iron Jang Bong" (expensive item in classic) on official diablo forums, and it censored the word "bong". wouldn't even let me say the name of the item in its own game.
Amazing topic. I have a greyform for early game A2 merc and hand of broc.
Bane Ash is a new one for me!
i remember when i got the gnasher playing diablo 2 demo, back in the 98 i believe
Some of these rare low level items can also be very valuable (worth multiple high runes) when rolled perfectly. There are only a few on offer because most players just charsi them lol
Rixots King was my favorite unique as a kid. My Zealdin felt OP using one.
As a magic finder, I can't believe you forgot the Gull Dagger! 100% magic find on a level 4 required item! I got one of these day 2 of ladder. Incredible find early on.
Gull is rare? Wow, I seem to find it all the time.
I Accidentally gambled a Hand of Broc at level 13, or so looking for gloves with mana for my sorc. Worked pretty good
I've been farming low level unique items for twinkiing a new toon and probably found ten pelta shields this week. I dunno what's going on but super lucky with that.
I just started a new character and my very first gamble in act 1 gave me a Biggin's Bonnet lol. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one before. Also first time ever getting a unique from gambling.
Don't think I've ever gotten Torch of...Iro(?) before, but I've had all the others at least once. The Hand of Brok would have been a second one I've never had before, but it dropped for me yesterday for the first time.
Torch of Iro should have like 20 light radius or something, that would be interesting.
A noble spirit embigguns the smallest man - Jedediah Springfield
I found that Pelta Lunata buckler just last night in a s6 HC hell Baal run. When I ID it I stared at it for so long I lost my spot in the runs. I still have it.
Edit: I think you can upgrade it to a defender to stay relevant longer in the game.
never seen greyform, or bane ash drop that i remember of, but i remember finding the others
Knell atriker is the only one i cant remember finding, unique cap all the way though you find that in the cold plains your laughing
"The Gnasher" is a godly weapon , I may have socketed one wit a Ber, just in case a use case comes up, Eth rune in it also super viable.
You forgot Hotspur boots! I was waiting since you covered all the other slots, but no Hotspurs. That fire resist is awesome at level 5!
Ive found Lenymo once and when I dentified it and saw what it was, it blew my mind because i didnt even consider there being a unique sash lol
From this list while im 3x lvl90-93 (P1 Online), found 3x Lenymo, 2x Gnashers, Hand of Broc i gambled yesterday (and its lvl5), Pelta Lunata, Bane Ash, Rixot Keen, Torch of Iro
I used to play a lot of D2 back in the day and these uniques weren’t unicorns to find.
ive found all of those except for i think felloak and possibly the knell striker
I actually found Bane Ash (Short staff) and used it till 30 lvl ), this season )
Biggin's Bonnet has dropped 3 times in HCL this season for me.
funny you would make this video since yesterday i just found "Stormstrike Short battle bow" and realized what an awesome design they had made for that bow
I've had all these, some this season besides Greyform. I used Hand of Broc on my bowzon for quite a bit this season.
Hotspur also may be here in a list (not bad lowlvl unique boots) or early MFer's paradise - Gull dagger (reqlvl 4 and 100 MF, what?? 😱).. awesome one 👍
I’ve used the Biggins Bonnet - way high on style points
I've actually found most of those, and all of them in normal difficulty WHILE actually useful. Torch of Iro I found in act 1 with my summoner necro for example, same with Lenymo. Might be super rare in hell, but not too rare in normal, I think :)
Gnasher is the go to axe for full sigons ! with the +8 to str
I need half of these to finish a grail and only 18 items left to acquire. Even farming normal cows with 300MF hasn't produced them.
Kind of making me want to boot up plugy and hero edit a barb with a full set of low level uniques, just to see how easy a p8 act 1 would be lol. Biggins and dual rixots must SLAAAAY
Iv played d2 on and off for over a decade, over the time I’ve seen everything
holy shit i didn't know biggin's bonet was that rare, i've gotten two of those, both of which i vendor to charsi.
Keep up the great work Phil! Been playing since .08 you do a great job covering D2! Respect!
theres no way biggins bonnet is a 1 in something million drop chance, i usually find that in act1 pretty fast, like off the zombie in the den if i remember correctly, i usually find 1 per season but that being said i usually farm that zombie untill something good drops, same with bishbosh
i found them all before :D im always excited to find higgis cap or hand of broc, because its boosting your normal playthrough..also i like to play my character till hell act 5,getting carried is kinda boring :D if you play like that even low level uniques can be awesome as hell :)
Am I the only one who noticed him calling Tyreals "immortal kings"??? Phil you big troll 😅🤣
Huh, some of these items looks pretty good for lvl 9 PvP. I haven't gotten most of them, but at least some I have seen drop like Pelta Lunata or Torch of Iro.
Still remember finding Rixot's Keen in the Den of Evil (from Corpsefire) when I was a kid. First unique I'd ever had. Brings back good memories.
pluckeye is in D3, never knew it was an original d2 item!
it is a shame how much runewords just obliterates uniques like these
i've found 2 hand of broc gloves in terror zones the last few days lol
Found an eth rixots keen and used it on new characters until it broke, was fun would do again/10
Totally forgot about the Knell Striker!
i remember finding a biggins bonnet off corpsfire running the den on a ladder reset. that was the only drop in norm den i have ever found that i thought was worth keeping.
FoH/Hammer Build does this too. Maybe even better.
Heh, I've found multiple of those items because I'm playing through offline on players 8 so slowly 😂. For low levels they are nice.
Gotta toss a Ber in one of those CB early on weapons to pump it up!!
Pelta Lunata was the first unique I ever found while playing D2 (yes, not even LoD) and it was mind blowing because the art was so great and different from the standard buckler.
I had found a Felloak while playing Offline in classic Diablo 2 with a necromancer, and I must admit that the +20 Fire rez AND the +60 lightning rez were NOT to scoff at
I have all those now but never saw them before
Found my one and only torch of iro from hell meph, chance must be almost as rare as tyrael 😂
Pretty sure i could name at least 2 stats of each of those uniques off the top
Found: gnasher, lenymo, pluckeye, and pelta!
Back in the day when I farmed Mephisto on Hell in 1.09 I had Pelta Lunata drop constantly. Many of the others I basically never saw, but that one was a consistent drop back then.
Playing 20+ years never seen that bow either
Felloak club was interesting weapon to me and have used it for the resistances mainly when doing a Larzuk Sorceress.
So I checked my grail...
The Gnasher (missing)
Lenymo (missing)
Pluckeye (missing)
The Hand of Broc (missing)
Pelta Lunata (missing)
I guess i better start farming Act 1 Normal....
Don't forget Gull dagger
ive never seen greyform before!
Once upon a time I had both that level 2 buckler and level 2 sword on a level 2 character. Life was fucking good.
Gnasher is good for LLD builds
Indeed, I haven't found any of those in a very long time, but I swear they were easier to find in the early days of LOD. I might have missed it, but Hotspurs should be on this list. I remember back in the early days of LOD, I had a couple of those kept as starter kits and would transfer them from a new character to a new character. You will indeed outgrow those items fairly fast but they help nevertheless to speedup your progression.
I've seen everyone of those drops except the Felloak...
I found Pluckeye a couple weeks ago and I lold at the name
I found knell striker off of a weapon rack in lower kurast
I've found multiple gnashers, notably as a barbarian I had 2 eqipped for a bit and I just pass em down on new toons
Phil lmao that shirt is CRAZY.
I literally just found my first gull dagger since the original d2 20 some years ago
How can you leave out Hotspur?
