    Kelli you are my imaginary friend =) I just resonate deeply with your words and your personality!! Keep inspiring us ... Personally the best shadow work that I do is triggered by collective shadow (my projections in these dynamics outline the core aspects that I need to integrate)

      Oooh, I love being an imaginary friend - how cool. :) Yes, the collective shadows teach us so much about ourselves if we care to look..

    I'm glad you're telling us that shadow work isn't pretty and that it won't be easy/fun- it's a mess! Despite spring coming right now, it's time for me to embrace the shadow work that I've been procrastinating

    it may sound weird, but i get this "fresh stationery feeling" everytime i watch your videos. it feels like a hidden world waiting for me to discover it, old secrets ready to be revealed or the smell of antiquarian books and im like, yeah, now i am so fucking ready and inspired! so, thanks for that!

    It has been raining here today as well, typical England ;)
    It is strange timing, I have felt a pull to shoot the sh!t, I have been trying to find the roots of anxiety and why I toxically compare myself to others. I gave the cards a shuffle tonight, and as always, many thoughts provoked.
    Here is to an enlightening winter of shadow work =) x x

    I'm obsessed with your fashion fleek, your current understanding of culture, your vulnerable journey through this crazy life, your spiritual practice and your specific and comprehensible use of the tool of the Tarot. I am so #cultmaddox

      +najeerene Nawww, thank you muchly, dollface! I don't think I would make much of a cult leader though.. I'd be like, 'Errr. Yeah, everyone just basically do what you feel - don't follow me, just do your own thing..' Hhahaha!

    The words you use are so empowering, I love your truth and inspiration. My shadow has been screaming at me from the background but I've been ignoring it. Fearful of it. Earlier today I had a breakdown. Letting the shadow come in and working through some emotions. I know that I have got to be committed and to overcome and work with what lurks inside of me. The process.. Oh the process. But you've inspired me to use that "fear as fuel" to do the work that is necessary. I also love the quote you mentioned by Dorothy Parker -- "I don't like to write but I love the feeling of haven written" -- wow that really hit a chord within me. You have so much wisdom and knowledge and I thank you for sharing your insight. It truly helps and gives hope in many aspects. Blessings.

    I have come to personify shadow work as that really annoying person who gets in your personal space and won't leave until you have dealt with it.
    For me anything that I have had to deal with has hit me hard. Most of it was very intense but it made a huge difference in me and I am grateful for it. So I've never really sat down and decided to do shadow work but more like asked that anything that needs to be seen and felt come to me at the appropriate time and then go from there.

    Seriously? This is the smartest content, the deepest, the most IN-spiring that I see. I'm a shadow-work toddler, but just spending these twenty minutes listening to you discuss the process (The Jung Channel--LOLOLOLOL!) helps me understand a bit of the broader territory in which my toddling is occurring.

  • @terristrange

    Yeah its time for me to do some shadow work. I've been too grumpy and annoyed with certain people and my usual positive spin isn't cutting it. I moved to the desert recently so my internal clock around the time to retreat is so off kilter. It's hot and sunny every freaking day. My heart was sooo sad looking at all the beautiful autumn colors you were getting to experience.

  • @imdivyamenon

    hi Kelly-ann! The way you've put your thoughts into words is effing brilliant. The sacrifice of another human being - in mind or in blood... I mean, isn't that what people would condemn witch healers for and sacrifice them. It's projection on a large scale.

    • @kelly-annmaddox
      @kelly-annmaddox  10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Indeed, the collective shadow is really SO much about projection. But because it is collective, it turns into a group mania/psychosis which feels so much more powerful because there is so much energy being pumped into it.. It's actually pretty terrifying. I see it happening right now in the UK with far-right sentiments on the rise and seeking emotional refuge under the umbrella of fascism and hatred towards other cultures. It's creepy. I want to no part of it, and I think that committed shadow work enables us to see it for what it is..

    This is what i needed to hear i think.
    That its going to be ok. This is one of the first times I'm taking onboard information about the collective shadow. I do love the idea of a 'sexy journal' though and so long as that wasn't the roundabout in the middle of the M4 i love that you are out walking in the woods trifficly early.
    Shadow work aways leaves me feeling numb and overwhelmed. I follow Teal Swan and use her techniques but these huge emotions from childhood trauma overpower me to such a degree that shadow work often becomes an exercise in damage control. I can't let one tiger out at a time, the moment that door opens thats it! there are bloody tigers everywhere ripping the place up. Until… until i remember that they are just me, a poor frightened and lonely toddler desperate for attention and love and wanting to be reintegrated.
    Its a process for sure. I just wanted to say thank you for bringing common sense, a smile and pretty face to it.

    You r scary smart, right now in US is re: (7:58 onward) there are people who embody the shadow. They are being "fed" by the feelings esp. anger and fear of some in the populace. So true

      You are so right - the collective shadow is operating so overtly over there right now. :/ I often put Americans in my prayer beads in the morning.

    • @The4books
      @The4books 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for posting this and how timely of you to post this on the eve of the Collective Shadow coming to the surface in the U.S. and Britain (as well as elsewhere).
      I’m spending my final days calling it’s American manifestation out for what it is. Regret to report that, based on the course of events in recent weeks, it’s likely to get worse in the immediate future.
      I’d like to call attention to an important ... “characteristic” in your commentary videos (several of which I’ve watched) and in your style of thinking which those videos reflect:
      There are a lot of people on the internet who discuss tarot, witchcraft, etc on a superficial basis, and who only bring to the subject the positivity, the energy and enthusiasm and the urgent endorsement of “self-care” and “self-love” that you also display in this video and in the others I’ve watched.
      The present video - especially when viewed in the context of America (and, for that matter, much of the world) in 2018 - demonstrates an additional mental/spiritual “quality” or “aptitude” that you have, that 99% of the other esoteric TH-cam presenters lack.
      Because the commentary of those other vloggers are completely useless in situations like the present one. Most magickal practitioners have no helpful guidance whatsoever to offer in response to Trumpism, apart from the usual network of New Age platitudes or invocations of the Rule of Threes, neither of which are of any use in the face of a Trumpist lynch mob or an ICE raid. A minority of magickal practitioners here recognize the great energy behind Trump (dark though it is) and have simply surrendered to it in the name of “going with the flow.” Both groups are equally useless.
      By contrast, the state of mind, or line of thought, that you set forth in this video points out a genuinely constructive magickal response to the present situation. Because, for the time being, all human social existence in the places where the Collective Shadow has taken over, are tainted by it. And tainted in long-lasting, significant and irreversible ways.
      For example, while it may yet be possible to remove Trump, and the Congressmen who support him, from power (though even this is uncertain), he has already done serious damage to the machinery of the government that will permanently outlast his presidency. And in the end, attempts to remove him may yet end in failure, leaving him in power more or less permanently. As far as I’m concerned, it’s all very well and good if someone wants to use magick to hex or bind Trump, and the American Collective Shadow. But so far no one seems to have done this successfully.
      HOWEVER, what you describe in this video is something that (1) people can do; (2) is likely to be effective and (3) would, if effective, produce positive results.
      There’s a great need at the moment for people to understand how to live under the Collective Shadow without either (1) surrendering to it; (2) being snuffed out by it; (3) being driven insane by the stress of fighting it or (4) being unintentionally taken over by it (as, for example, through the gradual acclimatization of Germans to Nazism during the 1930s). What you present in this video points towards a magickal path (reminiscent of the eight of swords in the Ryder-Waite deck) for achieving all four of those goals.
      And that’s highly important until the exoteric world heals itself and regains balance. And if (as might well happen) the exoteric world never really does heal, then the above will remain highly important on a permanent basis. Because, in the present situation, where society itself has been corrupted and conscious heroism is not enough to fix things, the actions of people who have done the kind of work you describe here will in many cases be the only hope the world (or the practitioner’s little corner of the world) has left. So, it’s reasonable to say that, by leading people to the kind of Shadow work that you describe here, you are saving both lives and psyches.
      So thanks again.

    I love the fresh stationary feeling as well! It was good to hear that I am not the only one, and applying that to shadow work really made a lot of sense to me. I deal with that issue of getting really excited...and then...i'm like "this sucks". I have been giving myself a break on shadow work, but i think its time to pick it back up. Thanks Kelly-Ann! You are so inspiring.

    Thanks for this refresh, perfect timing as ever! Been keeping up with a Self Love journal pretty well, but when it comes to Shadow Work scribblings, my resistance is apparently quite high... 3 weeks after preparing to venture into the work, I suddenly have a very tidy, re-arranged flat, and 7 beautifully repainted interior doors; but NO Shadow Work, ha! I try to see it as clearing of physical baggage in prep for the mental delving(?!) Due to the definite resistance I now acknowledge to writing the stuff; this week I've been trying making voice-logs for my Shadow Work, using my mic and a simple program on my comp; setting myself at least 10 minutes and just going for it once a day, simply to get started on the habit of even considering the work I wish to embark upon. So far so good; with the added bonus that my Inner Child insisted I name them 'Captain's Log'.

    • @kelly-annmaddox
      @kelly-annmaddox  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for sharing some info about your personal journey. :) It's really weird because my inner child often insists on calling my journals 'captain's logs' too, hehe. :) I like to start them off by hearing a rich, super English captain's voice saying, 'Day 368 at sea..' ;)

    This was fanfuckingtastic! At the end, when you said that you hoped that it inspired...wow. This was like a rallying cry to me. I have done so much work over my lifetime trying to reach self actualization. I knew I was missing on something, and I hate that feeling of knowing that you are working really hard but something is just a bit off, not complete. I have been missing that self examining of me and my role in those situations that continue to come up and are perplexing to me. What an epiphany this video was for me. I feel like this will make a huge difference in how I deal with myself and also will put me in a position to teach my clients how to help themselves also. Thank you so much for your time. You rock! "Fear is a fuel. Put some reins on that fear and ride it!" Fucking Brilliant! (sorry for cursing, my kiddo would say "language mom!"

    In middle/high school, we learned the very basics of some of Jung's stuff, and I remember it really intrigued me. Even though I never delved any deeper, I've always held a particular fondness for him. After watching some of your videos, I'm thinking I should actually start reading more about him and his theories!

    • @kelly-annmaddox
      @kelly-annmaddox  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's so cool that you learned the basics in middle school. I have met one or two people who studied psychology at university who claimed to have not been taught the basics of Jungian thought. They said it was something they could opt to do at a later stage if they wanted to but that it wasn't compulsory. Frankly I think that's ridiculous! I was shocked! Jung's ideas have permeated SO much of our collective culture.. To conveniently ignore all that in the context of a degree means, at least in my mind, that the degree probably isn't worth the paper its written on.
      I'm so pleased that you feel called to check out his ideas. Awesomeness. :)

    I found out that the best shadow work for me is knowing that all people around me are mirrores to myself.the best and the wrost. anything annoying in others. is what you hate in your self.I think good work is once you realize you are the problem ,then forgiving your self is the most important part of the work.and I liked the part where you talk about self destruction.and how people use it to punish them selfs when they cant forgive themselfs.

    this one woke me up to some parts of my shadow work i didn't realize i was doing. thank you very much. i think i have been excusing myself by not taking responsibility due to the shadow work revelations. perhaps you could make a video on "how to proceed" after a revelation occurs that is a mind-blower? sometimes i find something out about myself, then, very simply put, i find it confusing to figure out how to move forward because i have previously only ever done whatever it was in that "negative" way. it's strange. shadow work sometimes is like, "okay, now i see this truth, now what?" it also screws with my sense of identity as well. i want to find out who i am, yet who that is constantly changes to deeper truths. it's like i (and perhaps everyone?) can never truly actually know themselves completely because we are infinite souls? do you think we are "formless infinity" in physical form? that's where i am currently, and although it's eye opening, it's difficult to navigate in a lady gaga world of assholes. mucho love : )

This is totally NOT a fun new little new agey hobby to unearth my inner bitch face... hahaha! I wish it was that simple. Eye on the prize! You're a sweet heart and I SO appreciate you sharing this stuff with us. Cheers to riding that fucking fear right into the sunset...hahaha..
