I joined the NHS in 1991 and left in 2007 and I am currently 62. I did not realise I could claim my pension two years ago as I didn't know I had to claim it myself (I assumed it would be paid at retirement age which for me is 66 I think) So does this mean I have lost value as presumably my pension would have increased over this time? Is there any benefit to not claiming until I am 66?

Hi, I’m 38 and have just been awarded tier 2. I’ve not yet received my award so don’t know my figures, but have received my notification about exceeding my annual allowance which came as a shock! It’s a foreign language to me. Are you able to explain how scheme pays works? Would my payments be reduced for the lifetime of my pension and why do they charge interest if the money is coming from my pot? Also, what happens when I reach retirement age? Will my pension continue at the ill health rate or does it stop? I can’t find this info anywhere. Thanks

Hi, if your disability qualifies you for ill health retirement. I would encourage you to reach out to your Pension/HR office to kick start the process.
Otherwise, leaving the UK, you will still have to wait for you to reach your Pension Age and organise a transfer to your foreign account. Fees are likely to be included
