- Violin sensation and TH-cam star Lindsey Stirling dishes on her new line of custom violins, and her nonprofit The Upside Fund, which helps families pay hospital bills. Lindsey also surprises 13-year-old Ukrainian-born violin prodigy Karolina Protsenko, who credits Lindsey for inspiring her to begin dance training and performing violin on the street. Lindsey gifts Karolina one of her signature violins, and offers to perform alongside her on The Kelly Clarkson Show!

It is to Lindsey's credit that she allowed Karolina to shine without trying to compete with her. I have known for a long time that Lindsey is a class act. Anyone who saw Pierce Morgan criticize her, saw that she was not discouraged by that dufus. Obviously, Lindsey has a heart of gold. Well done, ladies.
"An optimist is someone who takes the cold water thrown on their idea, heats it to boiling with their enthusiasm, and uses the steam to push on ahead." Lindsey is a perfect example. She took the judges' comments as constructive criticism and improved herself to get to this point. It's great that she is not letting pride take over.
@Composer Sometimes, the best motivator is strong, or even harsh, criticism. Some people, like Lindsey, will take that criticism and use it to get better and push forward just to prove people wrong.
I saw Karolina's video first, where I saw the performance, and noticed that Lindsey "held back" to let Karolina shine, and Lindsey did the "supporting violin" and filled in where it was suitable (pretty easy for her to know since its her own music)
Lindsey HAS a heart of gold, and knows how to inspire others and show proper support, instread of stealing the show, which many celebraties would in that situation
but tbh, that performance wasnt one of her best tho but regardless she took what he said as a challange and in the end she had him eat his own words =)
They can be a great duet, without a doubt!
This is the sort of real, pure, genuine innocence and sweetness and talent that kids should look up to. God bless her sweet spirit!

This, people, is a defining moment in the history of pop music. This is not the first time that Lindsey admits to having seen Karolina's videos, and she even praised her when the little girl was only 10 years old. And by the way, Karolina said that she does not use sheet music, but only meant performances of popular music. Karolina is classically trained and, believe me, she can play (amazingly) classical music, being a student of one of the best classical violin teachers nowadays. Congratulations to everyone who had the privilege of seeing this live. Cheers.

I was smiling so hard that my smile literally began to hurt. Karolina is so adorable and innocent and cute and talented! ☺️ It's her Ukrainian traditional values and great family. I hope she doesn't get corrupted by living in California, the state of decadence. Anyway she has great parents to guide her through life that's for sure! 😊

It's always the adorable and innocent and cute performer (especially if they are female), and the one who radiates "traditional values" (wearing dresses or girly pink outfits and keeping long hair) who gets the views on TH-cam that translate into invitations to appear on television. Even Lindsey Stirling -- who I think deserves a lot of respect -- has capitalized significantly on those biases, but in the entertainment industry, that's totally normal. It's still depressing to me -- and I am not alone -- that advancement in a career like violin performance is so biased in favor of these misguided "traditions" that require a young woman to be thin and pretty with expensive clothes and even jewelry (in another video Karolina shows off her new pearl choker). Even without these prejudices, learning the violin to a level that Karolina displays (which is impressive) is very expensive -- thousands of dollars per year for lessons, even more for instruments (purchase $$$ and maintenance), books of music, pricey summer camps, travel to competitions and auditions, etc. I don't fault Karolina for "playing the game" with the cards she was dealt (which are pocket aces in terms of her looks and her wealthy upbringing), but I think we should recognize that she benefited from critical advantages beyond her own considerable talent and motivation.

At 73 I was not really a violin fan. One day a very young lady popped up on my TH-cam page. Karolina put the violin into my heart. So gifted and beautiful yet she has something even greater in her presentations. She brings life to each performance. I always feel like i took a happy pill or an energy booster. It all comes from Karolina, her gift, her power.

A lot of people don't know she also sings and she's VERY GOOD at it. My favorite band is the Finnish Symphonic Metal band Nightwish. They have the best singer in that genre but they don't have a violinist. I would love for the band to invite Karolina to play a concert with them the next time they tour the US.

I've been at Lindsey Stirling fan for many many years, I just discovered Karolina about a year and a half ago and I watch them both constantly. What a treat to see the two of them together for the first time. I wish they would have included their performance on the show in this video.

I've been watching Karolina for a few years now and have always been amazed by her performances. The fact that she plays by ear is phenomenal. And my goodness how tall is she getting?? She is definitely going to have a great and fulfilling career!
My daughter showed me videos of Karolina and I commented that she performs similar to Lindsey. Now we enjoy watching videos from both.

Karina is going places. I love her bubbly personality and her voice I can see doing an animated movie. She learns by ear and plays like a professional that's been trained. A true gift from God.

I was Karolina's age when I first heard of Lindsey and fell in love with her and the violin. I finally started playing when I was 14 and it's been one of my biggest passions for the past 6 years. She has inspired me so much as a musician and as a person. I never would have started if it wasn't for her, and I'm glad the world has a great role model like her

That is so lovely she's started a fund to help play people's medical bills. We just have it so good here in New Zealand, there are no hospital bills because it's all run by the govt.

Really great that Lindsey setup that charitable foundation. Especially, given her backstory. When she first wanted to learn to play, her parents could not afford the cost of a 30-minute lesson. They asked several violin teachers if they would provide a 15-minute lesson, whcih they could afford. A dozen or so said, No. Finally, they found a teacher who was willing. The rest, as they say, is history. I've followed Lindsey on YT for about 10 years. She has come a long way.
I went to one of her shows more than 15 yrs ago probably pushing 20 in a little old theatre in my home city.
Watching a violinist's face while they perform always moves me, to watch them truly feel the music...

You heart is true, my uncle brought me down my first fiddle when I was 5 or6 it was about 12 inches long, deep red in color, I never slept for about a week. The passion began. My parents didn't want me to play, associated the fiddle with trouble, parties, drinking, it wasn't the fiddle it was just an adolescent growing up, don't make the same mistake I did, keep you're violin close, it's you're best friend , it will carry you through good times and bad, I never seen anyone so young with so much talent.

One of my friends who actually worked on violins said there is a physical difference between fiddles and violins, such as a flatter bridge to make double stops easier for fiddle music ;) and some other things haha
