OMG...SIMON BACKSTAGE WITH THE GREATEST METAL BAND EVER....IRON MAIDEN AND THE CURE ..PERFECT TOGETHER. IF ANYONE' SLAGS MAIDEN, THEY DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT MUSIC
I can see how Robert could be skeptical about all the praise Songs off a Lost World is receiving, but I have to say - there's a legion of fans that have loved The Cure, many for most of their lives (myself, among them). We're very excited there's a new album. And it is that good! (I'm fangirling over it at present, but I don't think that makes me totally daft. 😏) I really enjoyed this interview! 🖤
Since hearing Robert first mention that "Warsong" is partly about a relationship that has been on/off and soured over the years, I can't help but wonder if it might be about Pearl. Considering they were in-laws for quite a time and Pearl's 2011 exit seemed rather tense. I realize that Robert is very private and I respect that immensely; it's just something that has been in the back of my mind recently.
I think it's Pearl too, but who knows? But he did mention that he wasn't sure why they were fighting, and there were rumors about Pearl swirling around that makes it clear why they might fall out.
I guess "Alone" is one of the top 5 The Cure top songs ever. This album has a lot of new things on Cure's way to play... The melody and progressions turns, makes me feel like Cure is knew and fresh form me even after 38 years being a huge fan... The use of keyboards also is different... Robert's voice seems more emotionally connected with songs meaning than ever. I could write a book here, but it took sometime to come back and listen the full album after "Alone"... a song for all generations living on this world... "Alone" is a beautiful masterpiece, that I humbly put beside songs like "The figure Head", "The Top", "Where The Bird Always Sing", "Plainsong", "Faith", "A Forest" and other of many greatest The Cure songs.
His self awareness is brilliant. Great interview, Tim knows how to let the guest speak maybe it's because they are both musicians. But it's a great interview.
Ahhh I cant believe he said he was going to get a string quartet for 'Nothing lasts forever'! Since I heard it I've been wishing they'd used real strings for it. Instead, it sounds like a cheap Casio keyboard strings preset. So frustrating. Real strings would've totally elevated the song.

I had exactly the same thought
It think it could be about Steven Severin..
I thought it was either about Pearl or Lol. Although I think after reading this; you may be right!

This chan el Is doing god's work. Thank you
Sexy tech, I haven't heard him complain about that in years. It's always endearing.
*NEED* to hear the disturbing song he was talking about asap
IRON MAIDEN AND THE CURE ;= PERFECT TOGETHER.....BUT KISS ARMY FIRST AND FOREMOST!! Simon Rules❤
Kiss is possibly one of The worst classic bands ever. I can't stand them and neither can my husband. They're cringy AF.
@razzirae5536 Like I care
😍
Is there no video interview? 😕
the background music is driving me nuts! aaaaaaaaaagh
I seriously didn't even notice it. I was too happy and immersed in listening to Robert talk.
Me too!!
Next Cure show I go to ...a Cure baseball jersey with a Maiden shirt underneath

Nah. It's gorgeous as is. Real strings in rock songs sound ridiculous for the most part. IMO
Real strings are distracting
@@ClockwiseCat I do think it can easily be done very badly, but I really think in this case it could've hugely improved the song if done correctly.
@@MrMurph73 I love it as is. To each their own.
@@ClockwiseCat I agree. I just wish they had let the song fade out without Robert coming back in at the end.
Beetlejuice, beetlejuice, beetlejuice..
Pearl is missed by many fans, but
times change. The album doesn’t need Metallica sounding crunch and palm mutes…
Missed opportunity.
