Rick could have picked up a call, but he isn't under obligation to do so. And if it was wrong of Rick to try and force contact after they broke up, it was certainly wrong of her to possess an entire state to force a talk. Unity wasn't wrong to break up with Rick, he was dragging them both down. Even Morty, who was used to Rick by that point, thought he was overdoing the drugs IIRC.
I really hated how they made Rick out to be the bad guy over what happened in Virginia. Unity is the one who broke things off with him (rightfully so), so she can't expect that he's going to be waiting for her call or that he won't have moved on.
Folks missing the point of the story I see. The thing is both of them have right and wrong in their motivations, it's not a black and white binary here. Rick went from encouraging healthy relaxation (which is basically the extent of Rick's "being right" in this scenario) to unhealthy indulgence, you see this shift when he stops caring about Summer and Morty and tries to send them home so they're "out of the way." Unity recognizes this eventually, which is why she leaves, she realizes that Rick's still volatile and dangerous for both of them. She handled it in a poor way that did a lot of damage, but the end result was for their mutual benefit. It was Rick's continued self destructive tendencies soloing in on Rick Prime that not only got Unity's attention, but caused him to ignore her messages. She did the right thing by reaching out an olive branch. Maybe she was a bit out of line assimilating Virginia, but that was basically her way of showing up at Rick's door to do a wellness check. You even see it on Rick's face at the end when she says she's "stopping by Virginia," because yeah, all he had to do was check his messages, and all of that trouble with Curtis and the pain he caused Unity by making her release hundreds of millions (something he clearly seems to lament when trying to help her up) could have been avoided. You see that realization and regret in an instant, and it's been very clear that Rick has been VERY bad with relationships of any kind through all 7 seasons, but he is getting better and able to realize his mistakes a lot easier than before.
Finally someone who actually gets the point of this entire relationship everyone else in the comments thinks the writing is poor because it shows unity as perfect and rick as the one who is wrong when it clearly doesn't both are shown as flawed individuals it is NOT black and white
Unity mind controlled Arizona That was Rick's territory Your ex doesn't have any right to set one of your rooms on fire to get your attention, no matter how important the "talk" May be The moment you become an arsonist and start setting things ablaze you lose any ounce of sympathy, credibility and care from your only single minded partner.
@@GibbDibb 1. Virginia, not Arizona, so I'm probably wasting my breath if you forgot such a basic level of information. 2. She announced she was coming several times, well in advance that Rick ignored, and mind control is the only way Unity "exists." Comparing her existing to arson is a hell of a stretch since Unity had the full intent to release Virginia after talking to Rick. It would have been no harm no foul had things gone according to plan. 3. Rick doesn't own Virginia. He calls it his "turf" but realistically it's the equivalent of her being on his yard, not breaking into his house. The same goes for basically anywhere else on Earth, tbh. 4. What this video didn't show is that Rick was fully prepared to commit suicide after Unity left. Rick didn't even push back after Beth told him off about the secret basement and space monster, he just conceded, went to the garage, powered up a death ray, and passed out seconds before the death ray fired.
Everyone talkinh about its rare Rick gets hurt blah blah blah. Lets not forget exactly why he's after Rick Prime in the first place. Hes a Rick with an actual heart, who cares, loves and wants his family. The booze, drugs etc aren't just for him to escape the pain but to sheild him from his true self or try to. In the beginning he may have came to Rick Primes reality to wait him out and kill him but i really think its bc he wanted family and eventually he felt that through that shield.
Nawh, Unity was in the wrong for coming back after ghosting and dumping Rick, while trying to act like the good guy. You lost the right to ask if someone's okay, while expecting a reply, when you dumped them. Even if you were totally in the right for dumping them. YOU chose to cut off contact, that's on you.
TECHNICALLY this is the fourth universe which brings up a interesting question is this the same unity and the hive mind expands infinitely or is this a different unity. Also for people who are saying they only jumped once. (Chronenburg world, dead rick and morty world, squirrels...... and parmesian)
Each time they travel, they find a perfectly identical new universe. Rick abandoned Unity, but he doesn't care. The one we see in the most reason season is identical, so he still gets the same thrill. What's the difference? Also, my conspiracy theory is that the writers don't consider the Squirrel clip canon, because of problems like this.
Rick, Forgive for doing this in notes. I'm not strong enough to do it in persons... I realize now that I'm attracted to you for the same reasons I can't be with you... You can't change. And I have no problem with that... But it clearly means I have a problem with myself... I'm sure there's no perfect version of me. I'm sure I'll just unify species after species and never fully be complete... But I know how it goes with us.. I lose who I am and become a part of you... Because in a strange way you're better at what I do without even trying... Yours and nobody else's... Unity PS. I don't know where those coal-minors were before they was assimilated. You might want get checked.
Honestly? Rick's totally in the right, he tried to talk to her. She sent him away with weapons, she told him she cannot be with him in any shape or form...so he set his boundries. Next thing you know he "doesn't answer her calls" OFC he doesn't! She's a part of his past, past as in non present non future past, she's his ex, and one that doesn't get a hint apperently and decides its better to force herself into his home...when he clearly isn’t interested in talking to her.
I get why they made Unity a bit less put together to give Rick the chance to show us that he’s actually trying to change for real, but I wish they used another character to get this to happen. It makes sense that only someone who can reach him on an emotional level could act as a catalyst for his development (his family, Diane, Unity), but part of what made Unity’s character so interesting and cool is that she had her priorities and goals straight to where she felt Rick’s less mature self from earlier seasons was toxic for her.
Hard disagree. She never looked down on Rick's immaturity, she just ran from it for her own sake. Like you said, she has her priorities in order, and she wants to keep it that way. And when she reached out to him, that's a big deal because it made her vulnerable to getting back with him. She cared enough to risk restarting the terrible cycle he puts her into. That's what you do when an ex is dangerous to themself. I think they definitely ignored the parts of her you (rightfully) described as interesting, but they don't feel tarnished or retconned. To me anyway, I can understand why you disagree.
She started enslaving the planet to force a man she cut off into a conversation and its the man's fault 😂. This was almost as silly as Beth trying to call Jerry a baby for ignoring after she cheated until he decided what he wanted to do. The writers gotta get more subtle with their lecturing or just stop trying to lecture and let the viewers think for themselves cuz that shi ain't working ngl
I find myself not agreeing or understanding the end conclusion of this relationship. It looked like Rick genuinely loved Unity that he had to make a fool of himself to try and get her back when she ghosted him. Yeah Rick was a bad influence, but being broken up with and ignored sucks and hurts, why would he answer her calls? I don't understand this concept of reconnecting with your ex, especially when that ex was the one that left you. I feel Rick was justified in ignoring Unity's calls.
The writers are getting kind of bluepilled and have been for a while. Rick did nothing wrong with ignoring Unity. The fact they'd let the character with some type of "authority," the therapist, say he was wrong was really womanly and wrong. Oxymoron I know.
The writers tried to convey that women will sacrifice for anyone willing to give them the consideration in the first place. But the thing is, the high divorce and promiscuity rates already disprove that.
Considering Rick knew Unity for a long while before, and that she recognizes that he's going into a self-destructive spiral and tries to stop him from doing it is not Rick being 'right'
@@AMabud-lv7hy'high divorce rate nowadays' is because it was only legalized federally [for women] in the late 60s/early 70s, and people raised as children in the 70s onwards know that divorce is a thing they are legally and socially allowed to do

Unity mind controlled Arizona
That was Rick's territory
Your ex doesn't have any right to set one of your rooms on fire to get your attention, no matter how important the "talk" May be
The moment you become an arsonist and start setting things ablaze you lose any ounce of sympathy, credibility and care from your only single minded partner.
4. Unity's takeover of Virginia was non-hostile and non-destructive, a far cry from the arson analogy you're using. At worst she just parked her car in your driveway.
@@JBoehmGames least pretentious pseudo intellectual Rick and morty fan 😦
@@JBoehmGamesthe thing is though she left him a note then didn't allow him to see it talk to her now that's her right but rick also has a right to not take her messages she can't really just walk in or out of his life as she pleases and rick wasnt wrong for that and the episode framing rick as the bad person for not answering her messages was distasteful Imo

I feel like rick drinking from the cans instead of the bottles he used to drink from in the beginning of the series is him making progress with his alcoholism too, going from hard liquor to cans of beer

Ah yes because being panicked upon seeing multiple people and his possibly his grandkids getting nuked means you're not relationship material
You know..... I feel like the series will end with Rick acknowledging that the Ricks across the entire multiverse are to dangerous to keep around so he'll jump into the Omega Device that Evil Morty will end up making to cause himself and every Rick across infinity to cease to exist to save the entire multiverse from every Rick that's inside it.

I always wondered how Rick dating with Une help him temporarily put him at ease from his wife’s death.
I can't speak from experience, but that definitely sounds like something that would be common.
I cant beleive you skipped rick's attempten suicide in the story. By far one of the saddest moments in the show.
It's absolutely that sad, and that's why it was excluded. Too much for a clip compilation.
Ah, I get ya.
I wonder how it feels to get absolutely mogged by some newgrounds animators
What this video didn't show is that Rick was fully prepared to commit suicide after Unity left. Rick didn't even push back after Beth told him off about the secret basement and space monster, he just conceded, went to the garage, powered up a death ray, and passed out seconds before the death ray fired.
My absolute favorite R&M episode. The song at the end always makes me emotional.
Of all the species R&M interact with Unity has always been my favorite the concept of her is so cool
"The stapler you stole" was an Office Space reference, right?!😂
I think so
I would really hope their story continues

one of the best scenes from Rick and Morty.
6:10 I love that president can throw hands
Nawh, Unity was in the wrong for coming back after ghosting and dumping Rick, while trying to act like the good guy. You lost the right to ask if someone's okay, while expecting a reply, when you dumped them. Even if you were totally in the right for dumping them. YOU chose to cut off contact, that's on you.
At 10:24 the way Unity walked up to the The President

It’s takes a lot to make Rick freak out. Odd.
Even he has a limit

Rick,
Forgive for doing this in notes.
Unity
PS.
Unity Stacked
After rick prime, i hope Unity and Rick get together in the new season
Bring back unity
This Paris 😊I love them all

Awesome Rick & Unity's Love Story Rick and Morty Video.
Considering Rick knew Unity for a long while before, and that she recognizes that he's going into a self-destructive spiral and tries to stop him from doing it is not Rick being 'right'
@@AMabud-lv7hy'high divorce rate nowadays' is because it was only legalized federally [for women] in the late 60s/early 70s, and people raised as children in the 70s onwards know that divorce is a thing they are legally and socially allowed to do
@@TwisterTornado Ironic that you use the plain textbook redditspeak and still have the lack of self-awareness and the audacity to say someone else has got the 'tism.
Go touch some grass, buddy.
Unity is toxic.
Rick do his best and even after that the only thing he got from her was rejection... Again.
Unity is just toxic and, well, being a living hive mind who takes hostage of millions of innocent people (despite that a few of them are crazy like the blue people) it's not exactly a model of Sanity.
And even if you put aside that, they could make their relationship work, but she was, is and will be selfish (Maybe because this is her nature).
I'm pissed that the show tried to portray Unity as "the Mature one" and Rick as the "selfish one" because they are not, Unity is hypocrite and she feels entitled of Rick's affection (even after abandon him) and make Rick try to understand her feelings but she doesn't make an effort to understand his back.
And don't get me wrong, Rick was quite immature, and god knows his ego is as big as the central finite curve. He has a lot of problems to deal with, that's not negociable, but he just did the healthiest: moved on. And if he doesn't wanted to talk in that moment with Unity, it was his right to do it because not only she dumped him and ghost him (clearly ignore him) for longer time (because some how she found out what was happening witt Rick) but also allowed her new "Partner" threatened him (obviously the partner is not even counter for Rick but if you portray this in real life, that's basically what she did).
I'm with Rick this time, not only because he tried to make things work (or at least calm the waters) and also helped the Virginian people to release them from the control of the needy attention who_re the president is, but also because she could (or have) ruined the work that Dr. Wong made to help Rick open his heart and express his feelings better.
And this is more personal but i even feel bad for Rick, he did his best, he opened his heart and what he got was cold-heart rejection, she didn't even look at him, not even a glance, and the last one of Rick, his face full of disappointment and abandonment got me for a moment, she ignore him (again) and if this wasn't an animated Sci-fi comedy or maybe with real people there would be a lot more people who stay with Rick in this case, because is not exaggerated, it's not fake, you can comprehend Rick and even understand why he behaves like that., why can't he open his heart.
And i know that the psychological process has his lows and flows and that you're not gonna get rewarded for the progress you made all the time because that's not how life works, but I'd prefer to get through with my process in calm with my loved ones that help me and care about me and make feel better rather with the ones who say "care about me" but only make me feel worse with thier actions.
Sorry for the Bible, this topics are interesting to me though.
