This issue keeps hurting collecting like the Gi Joe reveals were great then the closed packaging sucked the excitement out for almost every collector. I will follow up with many issues like closed packaging and the haslab damaged ace figure
Another issue that I suppose falls under "QC" is this: some of the Hanks have the tunic's shoulder flap glued in the front and back. Some back only, and some....not at all. Paint bleeds are an issue around his boots. They aren't deal breakers, but how are we supposed to know what the norm is on them? The paper only packaging is not being universally loved. It actually prevents some collectors from buying two sets. One to open, one to leave MIB. No window to see what's inside. Not very good money sense.

This is an insanely stupid choice by Hasbro. As a collector of both loose and MOC/MIB... if I keep one unopened on my shelf the thought that the figure inside may not be the one on the box is very bothersome. And if I keep it unopened, I would never know. What if I sell it later to someone who opens it... and it's not the figure they expect. I don't think Hasbro thought this through, especially not with their primary market in mind, adult collectors.
True that down the road surprise especially when somebody buys a Hank off Ebay sealed in 2035 for $100 and opens it to see Diana. Ebay will side with the seller on this because it was opened by the buyer
What are the odds of a Diana in a Hank package? Hasbro needs to go back to the normal packaging immediately. Also they need to reduce prices back to pre-2020 levels. They need to improve distribution. That brand manager for GI Joe and D&D needs to be fired NOW!
Windowless packed figures are worthless. Imagine trying to sell one years from now and the buyer asks you to prove what is inside. You can't. I wouldn't buy one from a collector, that is for sure. It's like buying a grab bag.
I’m out on this. I was so excited for the D&D figures but when I saw them at target in those boxes I totally put them right back down. Major disappointment
I get what you're saying and to some extent I agree. Personally I think it would be a nice middle ground if all figures come boxed, attached to the cardboard without any plastic but with a plastic window. I don't think carded plastic bubble packaging is as displayable as boxed figures anyways. That thing with the Diana in Hank's box is a major fuck-up offcourse.
I agree that the windowless packaging will kill impulse buys! It’s now as exciting as buying vacuum cleaners…😞. Can’t believe the poor QC during the live opening!
They are doing it to cut back on peg warmers cause like you stated people will inspect the same fig to find the one with the least mistakes and let's face QC is outta control with hasbro
So far every plastic free packaging that I’ve opened has had the right figure inside. It’s a bummer because i like the windowed theme, but if it’s the only way I can get some of the figures from shows like dungeons and dragons, I don’t mind so much.
Problems is see: 1. The boxes with the open window generally have pieces stolen or missing. 2. The new classified packaging has that extra flap and isn’t the same size as the prior classified packaging. Really should have kept it uniform 3. New classified packaging is using way more paper than needed. I always wondered why Hasbro inserted that fine print sheet in their products which seems missing from the sgt slaughter packaging. 4. I think most people want slim packaging. I would totally love for the classified packaging to be half the size they are and with the accessories in a paper or plastic bag inserted.
Mike, I appreciate the video and you make some valid points on quality control at Hasbro that I agree with. Clearly they're not running a tight ship these days, and I have my own gripes. I also understand your frustration with getting the wrong figure in the box. What I have to disagree with, though, is the way you gloss over the reason they moved to plastic-free packaging, and down-playing the environmental impacts. We're not making the world a better place for our kids with this attitude, in my opinion. And even though "everyone" seems to hate the new packaging, based on TH-cam content creator's and commenter's opinions, doesn't mean the majority of collectors feel that way. Dissenters of different/new ideas are often more vocal. The issues you describe with figure swapping and scratched paint, etc., are not new. Apologies for the long post, I'm just really getting tired of collectors complaining about plastic-free packaging, it shows a lack of understanding and responsibility for the world outside their action figure bubble. Nothing personal. I agree the plastic windows are minimal, considering the entire figure is plastic, but every little bit helps in the long run. Maybe there is another packaging solution that we'd like, that doesn't use plastic? That would be an interesting topic.
I'm a loose collector myself and I can tell you that paint apps and small imperfections can mean a lot. I passed on 5 Robotos a week ago because none of them seemed solid to me. The best one had a blotch on his visor that ran the blue down his face slightly. He had the best body paint of all of them. I decided to wait and try again. I always compare 3 or 4. I even have my wife do so along with me due to the fact that I'm Red Green Deficient Color Blind. Closed box does worry me alot. On a side not there are new closed box Power Ranger toys as well and I see some are small Megazords. I kind of want them but I need to see them to pull the trigger. Because of this I pass on them every single time I see them.
I've quit all my lines because of plastic free packaging. Only ones I'm still getting are retro figures if they change those also I'll be done with them all .
All these mistakes need to be recorded on camera by Reviewers and Buyers so these big corporations can fix it or have documentation why their companies failed and died because of bad packaging and QC issues!!! Everyone, open your Windowless boxes on camera and post the unboxings on TH-cam and Social Media to make these companies fix this issue and warn buyers of possible issues with purchasing Windowless boxes.
Plastic free are really easy to swap if you take some glue and glue down all the corners. The return counter just gives up after a minute and you get an easy swap. It’s super easy now, you can just take something that weighs the same and stick it in the box 🤘
The 3.75 inch marvel figures suck, the old ones are way better. Yes i agree, impulse buying is dead, get excited when you can see what your buying. Every time I can't see the figure, I get a defect, i need to see it or not buy
You're 100 percent spot on, thankfully I am 99 percent a loose collector and 90 percent online pre orders. I'm glad most of my collections are almost complete.
Good point most collectors already have nearly complete collections and do not need most of these releases. Plastic free loses many of those on the fence
I like to see the figure so I can compare Hasblows sloppy & inconsistent paint jobs - if I can't see the figure, I aint buying! Plus a lot of the windowless packaging box art sucks!
I got mine today. all the parts that were supposed to be included were. So you maybe just got unlucky there... However, the quality of these figures is completely awful. 1. Hank, i broke off the hand just trying to articulate the wrist to hold the bow. Glue is going to have to do here... 2. Bobby i can't bend his right elbow joint. it's just bending the plastic and if I keep going I'm pretty sure it will just snap. 3. Uni, one of the legs is way short so it stands at an angle - Uni also only has a head turn. the legs are just a molded sculpt. 4. Diana, no major issues, just general joint badness The articulation on these things is so poor, they are almost worthless outside of the package anyway. The sculpts are nice but the build quality is probably the worst I've handled. The Marvel Legends I've gotten are also not very good so this might be a Hasbro problem overall.
The 2 figures I have purchased in the new packaging have had paint app issues. I display both in box and out of box and this will greatly limit/ reduce my purchases . I want to see the actual figure before I buy…Time to move on from hasbro -
This is about what I was expecting when they announced closed boxes. I have also seen quite a few empty transformer boxes, or at the least, missing parts.
It's not secure so when target and walmart ship them out in those bubble wrapped sleeves get crushed it damages the plastic free box and the figure inside that's not protected by anything like it use to be
Now I am going to have to open and check all of my second set of Gijoe classified figures from BBTS. Just to make sure it is the right figure. The only line I will still buy a second figure In plastic free packaging . Been Done with Black series, and Marvel legends since they made the switch. Just collect carded figures, and open in anything in a box at the store in front of customer service . So they cannot say I swap shit . Plus it gives me a chance to educate the employee .
I have to agree with your statement about being able to see the actual figure in the clear packaging. Knowing what I know about the issues of finding a different product in a closed box, I’d buy my figures from a reputable online retailer.
Thanks for pointing this out. Once Hasbro have ticked the box on not using plastic in packaging, they'll probably move onto cardboard in the name of supposedly saving the environment. This is how absurd all this crap is. 🙄
I understand the problem with paint apps & figure swaps but saying that kids don't get excited & parents won't buy if they can't see the figure/things in a closed box. Back in the 80s I got very excited getting m.a.s.k figures & vehicles, star wars vehicles & playsets, G.I Joe vehicles, Dino Riders vehicles/dinosaurs, masters of the universe playsets & these were all in closed boxes. My PERSONAL OPINION is as collectors we hate change & when changes happen we aren't happy. Unfortunately times change & there isn't much we can do about it apart from either stop collecting or adopt with the changes. We need to remember that collectors make up a very small percentage of sales for toy companies & what we buy doesn't come close to the volume of other items that toy companies sell that brings in silly amounts of money. For example Monopoly, Barbie, Hot Wheels ECT
I haven’t bought windowless yet and don’t plan to. Their quality control is not good enough for that. I compare paint applications and look for mold defects before I buy, and choose the best from among what is in stock.
I opened one of the newer Plastic Free Packaging figure and they were missing some accessories. It's a hit or miss when it comes to these type of packaging
Welcome to the same level of expectations of any other product manufactured!!!! It comes in packaging, I'd look into produce for this further level of checking your stock!!!!
I really want the studio series Dotm Bumblebee and Sideways but I lost confidence buying them if they are exposed to damage and parts stealing in the first place at your nearby store.
They could just do a slim plastic window within tjr card stock vs a full plastic blister. That alone will cut back on plastic which is better for the environment. Hasbro didn't do the best job. They can also use alternative organic plastics
It's a just a big PR move, you can tell as other toy manufacturers haven't jumped on this bandwagon. Saves hasbro a ton of cash as well because they don't need to pay to mold the bubble that holds the figure as well.
I know all about the impulse buys. I nabbed the Marvel Legends deluxe Ulik from Walmart on an impulsive moment. I hate the plastic free packaging too. I'm betting it doesn't last long.
This seems like a good time for loose collectors to stop buying new items for the most part and just go after older figures that may have been missed people are looking to sell. There may be some heart ach with aftermarket printing but might find good deals
I don’t plan to buy any of these plastic free packages. I prefer to display my figures on card/in box. Hasbro’s decision is saving me money since I am not buying them for my collection.
Are these some kind of surprise boxes when the figure of the brown-clothed girl came out from the green-clothed boy's box? Or was there a wrong figure in the box?
I got that Target Creatures Collide set and the extra head for Ransack was missing. I could tell it fell out through one of those honeycomb holes because of a tear in that ridiculous paper that they are wrapping all the accessories in. They can't even tape it down inside the box to keep it from floating around.
They should go with the TF legends design with the window but put a piece of clear recycled or bio degradable plastic. And market as plastic reduced packaging which works just as well. Plus parents and collectors aren’t really gonna stop buying if you’re plastic free or reduced cuz your kids want it, they’ll buy regardless.
I would like to see a poll of current kids and what appeals more to them plastic or cardboard. It would be an interesting study but Hasbro does not care about kids anyway
Twin sisters. Hank went on vacation. ;) Sorry to see what happened. That is awful there is no Quality control due to the blind box issue. Definitely punishing the buyer with a risk. I avoid the closed box packaging of figures as a sealed figure collector. D&D the Animated series is the only exception for a favorite classic animated show. Thanks for the heads up.
I’m not gonna pretend to know shit about GI Joe so maybe the comics look like that now but the art on that windowless packaging just screams “See kids, we’re Fortnite too” to me. No thank you. I’ve been out toy shopping/hunting with both kids and adults and there is a marked difference in both parties when they find the fig they’re looking for with a window. Comparing paint apps and generally just studying the product. All that goes out the window with windowless packaging. You just kinda grab a picture of the character and hope it comes out of the box as presented. Wack.
I agree w everything here. No windows, the economy and price hikes makes me think hasbrah is clueless atm. They are expecting 25% increase in revenue over the next 3 years and I think at best it will be single digits %, if not negative.
@@tydiriumhanger1320 yup hasbro doing this go green crap & yet charging us more is crap! Hasbro will go woke & go broke esp now it’s we’ll know 25-35% of toys are bought are from adults!! & we know when to say enough is enough for over paying for this! Esp moc &MIB ! Then to see you get the wrong fig from online is nuts!!
I thought this might be a new perspective, I was wrong. Dude I get it it sucks, but hearing collectors complain like this is getting so old!!! We are all annoyed, buy more expensive figures or just deal with it, it's the annoying future!!!
I open as I display. & I have doc oc 2 pack spider man 2 pack, Japanese spider man, 60 anniversary spider man & black & white spidey. All boxed & bought new from amazon but Amazon is basically an eBay. So if people can scam a $1 outta you they will. I wasn’t nervous before but now after seeing this… I am. Especially considering my figures are past months of purchase. Companies like eBay & amazon have cash back guarantees but within weeks of purchase
I wonder if the DND figures are somewhat of a test for doing the retro card backs boxed? That they are a box on a card kind of hints at that. Also looks awful. These figures are new enough that I can't imagine people are swapping already, plus why swap an Hank for Diana if you could find both in the store? someone like the art on Diana and and not Hank. Probably a QC issue that was missed because no one could see it. Another reason to not have these closed boxes for figures. Better open mine to check.
I've started seeing some of those transformer toys with missing pieces. People are stealing parts out of them. So, it this keeps happening, I can see them just closing up the packaging for them.
With a recession right around the corner we might see more cost cuts with Hasbro. Just terrible how they do their customers. What's next selling action figures in tight boxes to save on cardboard. Maybe exclusives at double or triple the price of what they offer their exclusives now.
I can tell you, that the packaging changeover, has me saying bye bye to many of the lines. Not interested. I do like to take them out of the box. I also like to display some of them in the box. HASBRO NOT interested in pictures. Imagine if you went to a Car Dealership and they showed you cardboard cutouts, and pictures only. No demos.
Hasbro stop giving us extras with Leader class Transformers, we don't need them and they would probably stay in the box or end up in a junk drawer ex. Blitzwing, or use the paper ties to hiold the figures in the box. Maybe you can save on plastic.
I'm a MOC collector and I was really looking forward to the Indiana Jones 6" line but now seeing they're giving all the lines this "plastic free" bullshit, I'm out. It used to be amazing walking by a toy aisle and seeing all the figures in their plastic bubbles. Now with Hasbro's ugly packaging it looks like a bunch of mini cereal boxes in line.
I don’t think hasbro really cares at this point. This is their last hurrah, as I think they know they are on borrowed time. As we gradually age out, action figures will be extinct at some point.
I was at Target not to long ago looking at Marvel Legends when behind me I heard a couple teenagers looking at Fortnite figures say, and I quote "Hahaha, this is stupid. What are you even supposed to do? Move their arms up and down? Hahahaha!" 😖
@@TheGeekViper There's the problem. I was a geeky teenager and collected action figures. The teenagers today, at least most of them, don't collect figures anymore. That article that was published recently saying adults, or as the article says, "kidults" are buying action figures and not kids is true.
Hasbro has done wrong in taking out the marvel legends windowless, they don't realize that most of us who buy are collectors, it's like Funko, collectors don't buy them to get them out of the boxes, really, because of this stupid decision Hasbro is going to go bankrupt and they deserve it for stupid if they don't want to work with plastic they shouldn't make toys how stupid Hasbro
It's going to be interesting to see how MIB collectors will go crazy wondering if the figure they bought is actually in the box. It's going to sit there on their display for a couple years and it's going to drive them nuts not knowing 😂. I swear a collector is going to invent an actual portable x- ray machine so that it can scan the unopened boxes.
Hasbro: "Look, Blackrock! Just look at how super green we're being! We want to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem! We're making a difference in the global community! (Is our ESG score high enough for you to like us now?)"
What are sealed collectors worrying about? You're never opening the box so as far as you know the correct figure is in there. It's Shrödingers cat. It's the loose collectors that end up going : "Oh this is not what's supposed to be inside." Edit: I collect figures in the box, but sealed collecting makes zero sense to me. You're basically paying extra for bits of tape to be in mint condition.
first off, if you don't like spider-man or anything to do with spider-man, don't spend money on it. leave it for someone who actually likes the character. Second, call amazon and inform them about not getting the correct figure, then call hasbro and inform them of what happened and maybe you can get the right figure.
Spiderman is my least favorite character but I love the villains so if I boy all the villains I have to get a Spidy to go with them. Plus this spidy may be the best yet and I passed on all those closed box versions of spiderman without any second thoughts
I'm a loose collector, becuase I like to display them. I wasent gonna open my D&D until the collection was completed. Gonna check inmideatly when they arrive.
Lol...knew it. This was just a pencil pusher's suggestion for the company to save a few bucks...absolutely NOTHING to do w/ saving the environment 😆. Not only did they want to save cash on using less plastic but also to cut down on QC as well. I really hope hasblo does a crash and burn in the next 4 quarters so the shareholders will demand blood for things to get back to normal. Ive already cancelled all my orders that have that crappy windowless packaging.
Whenever I open action figures wrapped with paper. I feel like I just bought a pre owned item from eBay.
Yes it did feel like that. The whole experience opening these feels cheap and not enjoyable.

They used to sell salami wrapped like this in Soviet Union, when we didn't have plastic bags.
It'll definitely be the down fall of fig collecting for sure..
My girl just made a point that the product is plastic………so you can put a widow in your plastic???????free???????? Angle….lol. @@tydiriumhanger1320

I agree that the windowless packaging will kill impulse buys! It’s now as exciting as buying vacuum cleaners…😞. Can’t believe the poor QC during the live opening!
Bought a Classified Cover Girl who's right arm was off upon opening the package. It fits on loosely and must be adjusted, then reattached when posing.
They are doing it to cut back on peg warmers cause like you stated people will inspect the same fig to find the one with the least mistakes and let's face QC is outta control with hasbro
Blind package means no more mib 😢 cant trust warehouse workers quality control. They probably think its funny to do things like this.
I'm glad these companies are going green good job!
So far every plastic free packaging that I’ve opened has had the right figure inside. It’s a bummer because i like the windowed theme, but if it’s the only way I can get some of the figures from shows like dungeons and dragons, I don’t mind so much.
Problems is see:
1. The boxes with the open window generally have pieces stolen or missing.
2. The new classified packaging has that extra flap and isn’t the same size as the prior classified packaging. Really should have kept it uniform
Guess the size change is so the can have a cardboard hanging tab
Good point! I was excited for these but held off opening til I could unbox them for this vid and glad I did!
Plastic free are really easy to swap if you take some glue and glue down all the corners. The return counter just gives up after a minute and you get an easy swap. It’s super easy now, you can just take something that weighs the same and stick it in the box 🤘
It’s great for sure. Saves a lot of trouble on having to locate cheap parts
The 3.75 inch marvel figures suck, the old ones are way better. Yes i agree, impulse buying is dead, get excited when you can see what your buying. Every time I can't see the figure, I get a defect, i need to see it or not buy
30$ for figures you can't see, what if the toys are broken
You're 100 percent spot on, thankfully I am 99 percent a loose collector and 90 percent online pre orders. I'm glad most of my collections are almost complete.
Good point most collectors already have nearly complete collections and do not need most of these releases. Plastic free loses many of those on the fence
I like to see the figure so I can compare Hasblows sloppy & inconsistent paint jobs - if I can't see the figure, I aint buying! Plus a lot of the windowless packaging box art sucks!
Emma frost looks decent out of a new wave....But Not doing it. Closed box is not selling it to me.
4. Diana, no major issues, just general joint badness
The articulation on these things is so poor, they are almost worthless outside of the package anyway. The sculpts are nice but the build quality is probably the worst I've handled. The Marvel Legends I've gotten are also not very good so this might be a Hasbro problem overall.
I don’t purchase the window less boxes. If I do I open them before I leave the store or just try to find the figures loose
Yep it is so easy to just grab those parts out of there
Soon it will be plastic free without the figure too, because now it will actually be plastic free.
And that’ll cost $30 USD
Yep Another reason to stop the Star Wars Black series when they go full on plastic free
Yep this is absolutely absurd!
Plastic free packaging means they can do whatever they want. ...bait and switch just became way easier for them to get away with
What I want to know is why aren't they doing plastic free packaging for dolls?
Im done with hasblo. No more window boxes no more collecting.
That is exactly how you have to do it inspect for quality! This does not allow for that
I opened one of the newer Plastic Free Packaging figure and they were missing some accessories. It's a hit or miss when it comes to these type of packaging
Welcome to the same level of expectations of any other product manufactured!!!! It comes in packaging, I'd look into produce for this further level of checking your stock!!!!
hasbro is about the money they don’t care for quality
Hasbro's New Box Sucks How I Am Suppose To Check If The Figure's Face Is Fine Or Not
I really want the studio series Dotm Bumblebee and Sideways but I lost confidence buying them if they are exposed to damage and parts stealing in the first place at your nearby store.
IF you can inspect them in hand you will know you get what you paid for at least
Thanks to PFP i’ve stopped buying Transformers (after 30 years), Marvel Legends, G.I.Joe Classifieds, and SW Black Series. I’ve kept MOTU: Origins, NECA TMNT, NECA Predator, Ghostbusters, Hot Wheels & Matchbox, McFarlane and vintage stuff like Kenner SW, Robotech, Smurfs and some die-cast.
Great Hasbro promotion liked the frustration video. The customer always get screwed. I hate paying box price.
Omg I would be so pissed. I refuse to buy those windowless packages
i don’t trust Amazon
And that’s why I do Mezco and Mcfarlane or a custom from both
Twin sisters.
I was planning on keeping a second set sealed once my Target order arrives but now I gotta open them all
Can you tell me the name of the music from the very beginning? It sounds so familiar.
Glad they gave us an out. Shame they have awesome Andor figs but now, gonna have to dip. 🙏🏽 Wokism always destroys everything.
You are right they are lucky to sell normal figures during these economic times but add plastic free package and they will see negative
Mint on card is basically dead with sub standard cardboard quality.
Anyone with a brain saw this coming!! Hasbro is going to start losing money soon due to the MIB MOC ppl will stop buying them!
Yep but still in shock it came from the factory like this
@@tydiriumhanger1320 yup hasbro doing this go green crap & yet charging us more is crap! Hasbro will go woke & go broke esp now it’s we’ll know 25-35% of toys are bought are from adults!! & we know when to say enough is enough for over paying for this! Esp moc &MIB ! Then to see you get the wrong fig from online is nuts!!
When I open Hasbro closed figure packaging, I feel like a kid tearing open a firework to see how it works. 🎆 💥 🧨
I thought this might be a new perspective, I was wrong. Dude I get it it sucks, but hearing collectors complain like this is getting so old!!! We are all annoyed, buy more expensive figures or just deal with it, it's the annoying future!!!
Hasbro: don't worry about figure swapping....we'll do it for you
Well I like windowless . Everyone package is like a mystery box 📦
It's a lucky draw
WOW! You took it well, I’ll say that.
Still in shock over this and really makes me doubt any figure ever packed like this.
The problem is when the retailers take the hit and Hasbro does not here about it. I need to contact Hasbro once Amazon gets back to me
With a recession right around the corner we might see more cost cuts with Hasbro. Just terrible how they do their customers. What's next selling action figures in tight boxes to save on cardboard. Maybe exclusives at double or triple the price of what they offer their exclusives now.
I predict in the future there gonna have no choice but to go back to plastic due to all the issues there gonna face with window less packages
No demos.
So true Who wants to look at pictures of their figures instead of their figures
Hasbro stop giving us extras with Leader class Transformers, we don't need them and they would probably stay in the box or end up in a junk drawer ex. Blitzwing, or use the paper ties to hiold the figures in the box. Maybe you can save on plastic.
Good luck getting that replacement, don’t think Hasbro is going to give 2 turds.
Ha I bought a MISB vintage vehicle and wanted to go to the airports when it is slow and ask them to xray it for me LOL
Hasbro: "Look, Blackrock! Just look at how super green we're being! We want to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem! We're making a difference in the global community! (Is our ESG score high enough for you to like us now?)"
Why does America’s number one patriot come with a Russian firearm?!
That's what I wonder when I first saw it. Why they didn't give him M16 with a detachable grenade launcher?
@@Atlas-hu9wk he should come with a big ass, dirty Harry 357
Not really sure what they were thinking
What are sealed collectors worrying about? You're never opening the box so as far as you know the correct figure is in there. It's Shrödingers cat. It's the loose collectors that end up going :
"Oh this is not what's supposed to be inside." Edit: I collect figures in the box, but sealed collecting makes zero sense to me. You're basically paying extra for bits of tape to be in mint condition.
You don’t get a Hank until you agree to OGL 1.1!
I got an Arctic bat from Amazon and when I opened it I received a shirtless wrestling figure???????!!! Got a refund
first off, if you don't like spider-man or anything to do with spider-man, don't spend money on it. leave it for someone who actually likes the character.
Love to know how they turn out and if you go the die with Bobby & UNI
Lol...knew it. This was just a pencil pusher's suggestion for the company to save a few bucks...absolutely NOTHING to do w/ saving the environment 😆. Not only did they want to save cash on using less plastic but also to cut down on QC as well. I really hope hasblo does a crash and burn in the next 4 quarters so the shareholders will demand blood for things to get back to normal. Ive already cancelled all my orders that have that crappy windowless packaging.
Using cardboard is using natural resources too, Trees 🌳, this packaging is what the scammers dream about to make back.
