    I remember those bubbles from my childhood. They were advertised like crazy! When I finally got my mom to get me some, I ended up being pretty disappointed because they fall straight to the ground like they’re depressed and that polymer skin was like a dead bubble.

    *Did You Know*
    A soap bubble is an extremely thin film of soapy water enclosing air that forms a hollow sphere with an iridescent surface. Soap bubbles usually last for only a few seconds before bursting, either on their own or on contact with another object. They are often used for children's enjoyment, but they are also used in artistic performances. Assembling several bubbles results in foam.
    When light shines onto a bubble it appears to change colour. Unlike those seen in a rainbow, which arise from differential refraction, the colours seen in a soap bubble arise from interference of light reflecting off the front and back surfaces of the thin soap film. Depending on the thickness of the film, different colours interfere constructively and destructively.
    A bubble can exist because the surface layer of a liquid (usually water) has a certain surface tension, which causes the layer to behave somewhat like an elastic sheet. However, abubble made with a pure liquid alone is not stable and a dissolved surfactant such as soap is needed to stabilize abubble.

    • @bertisacutepumpkinboy8517
      @bertisacutepumpkinboy8517 5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Cause bubbles are constantly coming up and down so the surface is irregular. For an object to reflect you, it must be smooth like the surface of stagnant water is calm and no disturbances. That's why it reflects light. That doesn't mean boiling water doesn't reflect light. Of course it does. Otherwise you can't see it. It just shows irregular reflection and doesn't follow the laws of reflection. This is my theory. Hopefully it makes sense 😊

    • @ChickenDeranged

Just a small piece of advice, don't force your enthusiasm over whatever odd thing you've shown or created. Just be yourself. It comes through as forced and disingenuous. Your tone and inflection sound phony a lot of the time when you say something is "awesome!" or "amazing!" We don't need you to be anything but yourself and the science you tend to explain will get us excited. Your topics and physical experiments are usually extremely interesting and that will get us enthused on it own merit. Just a piece of advice..it could also just be me... Anyway, your channel is awesome and amazing! ;-) Thank you for all the effort you go to just to entertain and educate us. My 14 year-old son LOVES your experiments/demonstrations and science is slowly becoming his favorite subject. I genuinely feel that your channel is directly responsible for his growing passion. Cool black bubbles! When I was a kid, my aunt once gave me a small toothpaste-like tube that contained a sticky clear red paste. When a blob of it was placed over the end of a straw and inflated, the red paste would quickly set hard into a delicate glass-like bubble. I've never found this cool stuff again and would love to know if anyone has heard of it, or if it's still made.

    I remember walking along a beach close to Los Angeles, I saw a few black bubbles, like yours, fell in the ocean from the sky. They look like alien space ship to me at the time. I took picture of them with my phone and showed them to my friends. Most my friends thought they might be space ships.
    After seeing your clip, I come to the conclusion that they might be produced by exhaust of a small airplane with bad engine, which was making bubble from used dark engine oil.

      Star War Lover 101 it’s not a bubble like this one that’s a cavitation “bubble “ . Not really a bubble but more a vacuum or void in the water that looks like a bubble . When these cavitation bubbles collapse they do it in a certain way . The collapsing bubble creates a re entrant jet that approaches the speed of light . This jet can strike something within 2 bubble diameters and cause temps hotter than the sun , give off gamma rays photons and cause transmutations of elements . This is very similar to the Big Bang .

    It's not your typical polymer it's actually corn syrup which Is a glucose polymer. I have a great history with the bubbles and it all started with me catching one and it tasted slightly sweet, so I read the bottle and it said "non toxic". Then I read the ingredients and the 2nd one down was corn syrup. The first ingredient was water and the 3rd was a detergent. That was it. After this bottle ran out, we decided to make our own by testing a few formulas out. Some worked really well and some didn't. Now that I have kids of my own, I make the "forever bubbles" made from water, corn syrup and Palmolive all the time. The trick is to use Palmolive and not Dawn because Dawn breaks down the polymer like chains of the corn syrup and you end up with regular bubbles. Palmolive is less destructive in the polymer chains and had less of a reaction therefore your bubbles will harden it become tacky feeling and last "forever". My greatest achievement in life was bringing these to a Diamondbacks baseball game and blowing them onto the field during a live game and having hundreds of forever bubbles land on the field and watching the players try to pop them. Even the TV broadcaster was enjoying the moment and it even made the news, ESPN plays of the day and the videos went viral.
