I'm convinced they also manipulate the scale on the maps, they want you to just glance quickly and hit accept but I know my area really well and they make it look closer on the map vs actual miles.
I’ve noticed that too. Long mile orders look short and short look long.

It's always a mixed bag with the gps miles.
For the Albertsons / Safeway I hate the miles but the deciding factor for me would probably be what was being shopped for. If those were 20 and 15 unique items that would take awhile I’d probably pass too. If it was for 8 limes and 8 cans of dog food etc I’d have to consider it, especially to end the day.
And pretty much every fast food restaurant is only concerned with the drive through. People in the restaurant are an afterthought. Also DD orders are the last thing they are concerned about, only get around to them when the store is cleared out.
Yes, there are lots of discrepancies, especially with the new version of maps in-app navigation. I always try to look at the map to see if the order is near highways or 7 miles down a gravel road. Im in a quasi rural market thats being developed quickly. Maps has trouble keeping up with all the new street names and locations. Lately they've been creating connecting roads into developments that do not exist. A lot of times there are shorter routes but doordash likes to show you the FASTEST route even if its miles further & only saves 30 seconds.
I look at the map very closely and then decide to accept. most times I can cut the milage down by not following the suggested route.
One thing I do like about doordash, at least on my end is that they don’t lie about the miles. Sometimes it’s less than what it said

I emailed this video to both Dashing Trader and Sergio (from the Rideshare Guy). It would be cool if more Dashers joined you in fact checking the distance DoorDash quotes us on the acceptance screen.
For me it's because I have toll roads turned off. But the app shows you tolls for the least amount of miles
I might have unassign one of the stores.
I had one the other day that said 2.9 miles and after I picked it up it said over 5 miles. Total BS. Happens all the time in my area but not usually that bad. Maybe a half mile or so

Just an FYI for those who are voting this year. For those that use Uber Eats, if you find the platform doesn't pay well, just know that the brother-in-law to Kamala Harris is on the board there. A lot of Uber drivers found discrepancies in pay on offers even being in the same room when offers where coming in. Well got to go to bed soon and try to do Shipt tomorrow.
This is why I focus my dashes in my local zone. It is the only zone that covers my zip code exclusively and is lined up to its city limits. So at most if it stays within my zone, it is no more than 12 miles if going to both extremes of the zone which most stay localized in the center. I think that doordash does the same as uber eats with the displayed miles on the offer screen. It is the total miles from where you are at acceptance to the customer. But the pay is based upon the restaurant to the customer. I think a couple years ago, uber paid based upon where you were which was nice.
olive garden signed a deal with uber eats today. some locations now should be all by spring.
You should talk about how Uber Eats sometimes gives you the wrong address (on purpose) if you change the map to Apple Maps through the Uber app.
I did not know that you can park in the mobile pickup spots and call mcdonald's. I've always went in.

Whether they do or not what can we do, no one you can call to help. I know I have to cross a bridge to get to certain areas and DD does not recognize the bridge on hot spots. It will tell me I’m 2 minutes away and not the case. I have had orders were they thought the Taco Bell or McDonalds that is closer than the one a mile away. Again who can you call, I have called them on these instances numerous times and they just don’t understand or care. DD could really improve their Dasher and Customer experience by having customer service people who speak English and have dashing experience. Every one I have dealt with has neither.
Sometimes it’s just making up the difference in miles on the next order. I had an order today that routed me down a road that was someone else’s driveway to the customers house on a street behind.
@@TheBrashDasher I hear you, deliver to a house in a private drive with ritzy houses, the gps takes me to the house before and has me walking through the woods instead of just staying on the road. Have driven on a lot of the back roads for years and gps does not recognize them. You would think with today’s technology they would, but maybe they don’t want to.
I definitely need to pay more attention to the map. Accepted an order right before ending my shift that should have taken me 20 minutes but took me 40 because of where it was going. I'm hoping I don't get a bad review
You have to know your market so you know if you're being manipulated
I definitely look at the map. I want to see the specific address as well. We have a lot of orders going to the other side of town they assume you're going to go down the interstate which makes the miles double at times. 11 mi turns into 5.
just the opposite in my market, I think they lower the Miles to make you feel better about the trip, then we are screaming on our way back, FU DOORDASH 🖕.....👀
Doordash the miles for the quickest drive time, hence why they seem higher. I do my best to drive the shortest distance possible.
In my area the highway is quickest but also more miles.

I have notice miles being off. More so for me it seems like doordash maps the longest way around. I will short cut alot knocking miles down. Unless EBT then l will rock the longer route they pick lol. I would have probably took the stacked. Depends on how busy the short orders where.
I've caught Uber on miles a few times, it appears they show offer from point A to point B on offer screen with miles calculated on a straight line as if I'm flying from A to B. Then when I start route the miles are a bit more.

I have had more miles than the app says
They always been lying about miles. They also give you the same order again by reducing the miles if you declined it in a first place. AND DoorDash keeps one of the base pays for double orders. And acceptance rate doesn’t make sense at all

Hi Charlie, here's a cooking lesson for you. Baking Soda is a Sodium Bicarbonate which needs an acid & a liquid to be activated. On the other hand Baking Powder already has a Sodium Bicarbonate & an acid in it, and only needs a liquid to be activated. Also the difference can be seen in cookies. Baking Powder makes them more dense & cake like textures. Whereas Baking Soda makes a more thin, crispy type of cookie.
(I trained in Culinary Arts in HS, and almost became a Pastry Chef.)
I'm not a big fan of dd shopping orders so when I lost my card I never applied for another. Definitely helps with my AR

They do not but from experience on filing taxes my first year doing Uber I drove some 30,000 miles and was told that was within the normal range so my likelihood of being audited on miles was low. I’ve used TurboTax for 12 years and it’s always been a smooth process.
