That's one good looking can am, not like I'm crossing over, but I appreciate a good build when I see one. Also watching how those system 3 tires are working.
This build list just earned a new subscriber! Good job fellas , I just bought a 2021 maverick sport xmr and there’s not very many videos on these machines
Wanted to say thank you for this video it was my main source of how to chop the cage of the X RC, I just did my new 2022 X RC and it turned out awesome, love the look of the chop makes it a bit more sportier. I ended up using Chevy engine block orange to match the roll cage color of Can AM's Magma Red, matches really good. Again thank you for the video yours was the most detailed and helpful of the others out there.
I had the same issue with my toy hauler and I just put the factory tires back on and swap them out when I get to my destination. But that cage chop looks good.
Man that looks good. If you would’ve cleaned those welds up better you literally never would know. I don’t have I can’t Can-am yet but I’m working on it LOL. Again that was a nice job.
@@MainvilleATV If I had not seen that video I would have never known to tell you the truth. Either way it does look damn good. I hope you didn’t take that the wrong way.
For all the Maverick owners out there I've been running System 3 35" tires on there single bead lock wheels with 1 1/2 wheel spacers with no clutch or belt mods for over 200 hours with no problems of any kind.
i don't see why it would not just did my cage and it doesn't do anything to the front but tilts it back a little definitely would affect rear window and/or cab enclosures like door windows.
Looks good!! What’s the height of the opening of your trailer door if you know by chance? I’m picking up a maverick XMR on Tuesday and my trailer opening is 78” sure hoping it will fit in
Much better looking, stock is way too tall. I wanted to do it to mine but it’s going up for sale in a couple weeks. That was my biggest reason fo getting 90” clearance in my trailer.
@@MainvilleATV gonna try an X3 this time around. New place has had a bunch of hold ups, but all clear now so digging should commence in a couple weeks 👍
Merci! On n'est toujours pas fini ak le look, surtout ak la cage. Ça va changer encore plus. Vraiment excité de vous montrer les prochaines étapes du projet.
Hard core folks in the SxS community know what they’re getting in to when they chop the roof …. It’s not looking for a lawsuit ! That’s like trying to sue the manufacturer because you rolled your SxS down a hill ….
Great idea. But come on guys the roll cage is their to possibly save your life. If you roll the first thing to go are those diy welds. Lol. Anyone else out their that wants to do the same have a pro weld your cage for you just because you have a welder does not make you a welder. Good luck lmfao

Dude that looks sooo good!!!
Thanks man, I've always found the maverick cages oddly tall. This is the solution until I do some better next month

Welcome to the channel! We have some big boy parts on the way as we speak so you'll love that! Thanks for watching
@@MainvilleATV sweet 🤙🏻where did you purchase your side mirrors ? And I’ve definitely got plans for a “ stockish “ roof chop …Thanks for the content

Glad it helped! Make sure to share it to others :)
Really need to do this to mine. Makes it look so much better!
Really doesn't take long! Took us about 1.5 hours.
Gotta say, darn straight cuts with a reciprocating saw! NOT easy ...turned out great!!!
Not going to lie, was hoping someone would notice haha you're the mvp Don
@@MainvilleATV YES!!
Those that know, know…seriously turned out 👌 real nice! I’m intrigued to see the custom plans you mentioned.
Looks good but did you try letting the air out of the tires and then seeing if it would fit?
It wouldn't have made nearly enough difference unless I completely flattened them.
I had the same issue with my toy hauler and I just put the factory tires back on and swap them out when I get to my destination. But that cage chop looks good.
Thought of that too, but I also love the chopped look. Two birds one stone.

I'm proud of my ugly welds bahaha

Ahah oh no. Not at all.
Looks so much better!
How did the original clutching work with those tires?
It was not good at all. Definitely need clutch work for this.

Can you share with me the wheels/tires you have? I like them. Thanks
Any idea if the factory can am windsheild would fit? Thinking about doing this to mine but don’t want to sacrifice windsheild
i don't see why it would not just did my cage and it doesn't do anything to the front but tilts it back a little definitely would affect rear window and/or cab enclosures like door windows.

Mine is the same I believe but I also have a beaver trail entrance
Did you measure the height ? What was the clearance for your trailer?
Had any problems with it since. Safety wise ? Still holding up ? Strong as stock ?
Zero issues. No cracks, paint held the whole bit. As long as you get a good weld you won't run into any issues.
Do you know if you can use the can am powerflip windshield with this customization?
I'd be guessing but I suspect you could.
@@MainvilleATV cool, how tall are you? Do you still have good clearance sitting on it. I'm about 6'1 (185)
@@KevinSpecialK I'm 5 foot 9 185, but there's tons of room for you
@@MainvilleATV thank you! Quick questions, for hight, do you use the metric system?
Do you not do anything with the front of the cage? It just pulls down and lines up?
Yepp good to go
What size and kind of rims and tires are you running
MSA 18 inch tall. Dirtylife.ca would know the actual model of them if you're looking at them.
@@MainvilleATV thanks man im looking for a set to run around the house so im not wearing my ol 2s out on highway

Glad you're enjoying it!
Where did you get your roof? I want something similar
Can Am.
Looks good I like it
Funny you put this out today , I was practicing my Stevie Wonder mig welding today ….. and well Stevie probably could do better lol
Bahaha. I make things stick. Way out of practise lol
@@MainvilleATV I trying to get brave enough to tack some of my exhaust on the cobra 😬
@@SCOTIAN_ if you tac it and pull it off, it'll be a lot easier to weld top down.
@@MainvilleATV oh I agree , but I have to pull the rear diff off to do it lol , just a couple of tacks to keep it from turning .
Brave man cutting an in warranty machine.
Not a fan of SXS roofs, they tend to make the machines look unsporty. Looks great now.
I never have warranty. Just the nature of what I do. My dealer knows it too and they're still super awesome 👌
Going to do the same to my Sport XC........
I still need to fix my cage after my flip over 😄
Chain and a tree homie haha
tres belle job j'aime le lock que sa donne!!!!!!!

finally getting around to watching this, makes me wanna do mine anyways and deal with my helmet hitting lol
You'd have to be like 6 foot 5 for it to maybe be an issue
@@MainvilleATV I'm 6 foot 1 and usually hit it off the side bar at times getting in and out I figured my head is fairly close but I could be wrong
@@beardedatvers drake is over six foot and still has a good amount of room with a helmet on

PistNbroke approved paint and welding, you want a job ? Lol
Oh god, keep me the hell away from a body shop.
Cast roll cage?
Yes Can Ams cages, like most other brands are made by casted materials.
That’s a great idea for lowering the cage if y’ have the head room to spare.
If your not a professional welder, your a professional grinder!
I sure can't tell if it's a different color
Did u lift it ?
No, stock height.
Chopping a sport cage and documentation of the hack, puts one liable for injuries to the riders in court.
