I'm over 15k nails into my dcn930, and I can't even describe how much better it is than my 692. NEVER tap the driver back into the gun, you're just making the jam worse. If it jams, and I've only had it happen with garbage grip-rites, loosen the 2 top screws by the tip. It drives 3" .131 ring shanks full depth into LVL. Amazing gun so far.
Damn, you ain't wasting no time putting that thing to work hard, huh!? I can't wait to give one of these a try either. It's amazing how they make them able to shoot nails so quickly and without charge\gas too. How does the battery last going through a days work? 4 or 5Ah last all day, or do ya need a 6Ah to get it through? It'll be interesting to see how well this does in the long run on job sites working every single day? 👍🏻👌🏻🛠️🔧🔩📐🔨📏✏️
I'm so glad I'm retired from fixing tools. There getting so cheap. Looks more tinny and cheap. Just more for your crews to drop and break.i like the change in driver tip. Maybe it will stop double fire. Have fun fixing tools. If they get any thinner metal or thinner plastic everything will be thrown away. Thanks for your great videos. Take care. Tim from across the pond. If you ever need old parts from us made let me know. Still know a lot of contacts.
The number one rule of commercial production is to make any product function to clear warranty and build it as cheaply as possible. Have tools that were made 50 years ago that were built so redundant they will probably never die but those days are gone and now planned obsolescence is the game of the day. Got to keep those stockholders investing and happy and every steel part you can make into plastic is more $.
Is it always cheaper to make things out of plastic than metal? Seems to me that plastic is also to keep weight down. And honestly, plastic on powertools is usually quite tough. I don't know if this tool can be compared to tools from 50 years ago as it's much more complex, with many wear-parts.
The single shot is definitely faster on this version than my older version. But to be fair, the only time I take my old dewalt nailer off bump fire is when I let someone else use it. My only real gripe with my old is, the nose is crap for toe nailing, and the rafter hook is an absolute joke! Great video, merry Christmas man
Well isn't that one hell of a Christmas present. Thank you so much! Happy Christmas. Also with the back of the pin holder it looks like a smile, so if it's upside down you have a frown and a frown is not good apparently. ^^
The new Makita nail gun is already in Australia. All reviews are good except for its weight. Apparently it’s the heaviest out there. And down here, we can’t get’em on bump mode. We still get treated as convicts.🤨
Rightly so you bunch of hooligans, lol. The whole thing about not allowing the guns to have bump mode makes zero sense. Anyways happy holidays, cheers.
Brilliant channel! Love the content Dean. I'm amazed at how you can strip various power tools down & easily put them back together. I'd like to know more about the price of these tools new compared to what you charge to have them fixed. Richard: Australia.
We have thoses nailers on site and i like them even thought i am not a dewalt fan they work way better than the old gen wich was rubbish, only complain after 2 days of use the rafter hook on one unit broke
Merry Christmas! And I know everything's a hammer but tradesmen especially use nail guns as hammers to beat boards into place so I wonder if the plastic end cap is going to last long.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.😢😢😢😢😅. Just a last word at least they never just copied Ryobi like Makita.................. Look foward to that one.😊😊😊😊 If I live that long.
All these small changes which don't appear to improve function are probably process improvements making manufacture slightly cheaper. (edit: now that I've finished watching, I learned you said the same thing already)
@ I don’t like supporting them either. But in the west it’s Milwaukee. Dewalt part are made China, Taiwan, and other Asian countries and assembled in the GOOD OLD USA. Most of Milwaukee hand tools are made in the USA. I hope to see the Made in USA more.
@@billboy7390Milwaukee only sells rebranded hand tools like Klein etc. in USA and German NWS-Witte in Europe.Things that Milwaukee makes (including that nail gun)are all Chinese, they’re made in China and Milwaukee is Chinese company (TTI).
Well, that doesn't seem to be so good. You have to bash the end of the gun to release the jamned striker, so much for the plastic release lever, which I would probably break trying to release the strike pin. Me thinks if there is any chance of me ever having to use a nail gun at 66 years old, it will not be this one. What always gets me is when it's not broken, why release a new one, as you said its heavier, bigger, sticks out more at the back so it's not well balanced, why release this new one at all???? Is this just to keep up with the other brands?. I have to ask, if these work so well, what is the advantage of using a much heavier, bigger gas gun? Or do the gas guns pack more of a punch and can drive a nail further or into harder wood? Love the channel, love watching you work, always a pleasure to see you confidently taking apart a power tool and putting it back together. Thank you Dean for sharing a small part of your day with us.
Thanks for the teardown. Not all that impressed especially with jamming they should have done a better job on tha release handle. At the moment we are already getting these from Dewalt with some of the repairs of the old guns we sent them. Due to parts shortage of the old guns they send this new gun for the price of the repair of the old gun. I guess time will tell how reliable these new guns will be. Happy holidays!
What hammer is that blue and orange? Perhaps write the serial number inside somewhere is best option? Or just go with a metabo hikoki whatever they are called in your area lol
I can see that micro switch that fires the gun getting destroyed when people are forcing the probe down into the wood it will be like a hammer coming down on it.
Looks easy enough to repair the usual suspects, but an extra £100 in this gun and the older one i would still 100% pick the older one. Let's hope the Makita is a better winner all round. Merry Christmas Dean hope you have a good break.

What's funny, those "cheap throwaway" nail guns you did recently, looked way better made, just such a shame you can't get spare parts for them. This new DeWalt gun was designed more to make the company more money rather than improve the machine.
Hello Dean and a happy Christmas. I'm an electrician and i need a good sds battery, between dewalt dch 273 and 263? I usually drill 6-8-12mm holes in ceilings. Or do you have any other recommendations?
I bought this gun and have shot maybe 3000 nails. It doesnt do so well in hard materials, but does well in soft wood - and will slam in the nail fully at inside angles. I think it's an improvement. I've wondered if grinding around the tip of the piston will help it jam less by sliding back easier. But i havent tried yet.
I’d argue that the serial number wearing off and not being anywhere else on the gun is deliberate. Seems like an effort to reduce the ability of customers to get repairs under warranty.
Yes, kind of genius really. Have a ‘no serial number, no warranty repair’ policy, embed the serial number in a QR code that won’t work if it’s damaged and then put it in a position where it will get damaged in normal use.
Isn’t “ yellow “ the colour of caution? 🤔 Not sure lve seen any DeWalt tools here that ld buy with confidence,.. I’m a builder and over many years lve accumulated a blend of, to me, the best needed power tools from each brand. Makita , Hitachi, Aeg, Bosch, Metabo. I even have my original Elu drop saw! It’s 35 years young! I’ve found the “ old “ designed tools are far superior to the new models. Simple and strong.
My Dear Brother Dean, the motor running for a little bit after you let off the trigger it's probably also to give it a little more cooling since a lot of these tools seem to overheat with heavier use and the repairs are costly when parts melt. Plastic and foam in a nail gun...I would pass on that alone.
Iv been a huge dewalt fan for donkey's years, but I'd never buy that crap it really annoys me that dewalt are quickly following milwaukee down the toilet of cheap crap with high price tags smh
A thief could wipe that serial number off then how are you going to get the police to recognize its yours unless you put something on it yourself that can be recognized and you can prove it. Maybe it's time to engrave the serial number using one of those vibrating engravers.
I cannot STAND the gyroscope effect the fan creates with these nail guns, feels like the most bizarre tool to use. Paslode all the way for me, even if the rest of my 18v tools are DeWalt.
i started watching with very low expectations but holy god that gun is a total piece of crap. all they did is make the bad bits of the previous guns worse not better and somehow made the good bits bad to match. only good thing is the magazine but there was nothing wrong with it anyway,. 2 major jambs in 3 strips of nails would have me bringing the gun back .this gun will be a failure from the start. they wont sell many. far to many people hate the old guns for good reason and there is nothing here to show any improvement
With enough content like that I believe this series will get very popular.
Content like that was the reason I've used to watch AvE.
