      I tried it with CDJs and with Traktor. It was terrible and would not stay in phase with the audio. I honestly think MIDI 1.0 is better than this garbage.

      I tried the demo with multiple devices and multiple pieces of software. Resolume, Traktor, Serato, Ableton, VDJ, Koala Sampler. CDJs and a mixer etc etc.
      It just doesn't pick up a beatgrid like Ableton Link does. It's just a fancy algo that listens to an audio signal.@@SeanBowes

    Perfect timing! I got a show on Saturday and I find the External FFT function in Resolume not very reliable to get automatic audio sync, but this will come to the rescue. Thanks!

    looks sweet. i do stuff w a live band/drummer (using mic or webcam input) exclusively. do u think this plugin will be more tailored to traditional dj sets and setups incorporating ableton/link or is there still a case for using with rock bands that are improvising and not always locked perfectly? i saw the plugin has a "try" option so i suppose i can just try during our next jam before i buy, but just curious in the meantime. thanks!

    • @SeanBowes
      @SeanBowes  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Havent tried with a live band. I'd expect it to not be as tight as with a DJ obviously, but i think its worth a try to see if it follows along. It is audio based, and only uses link to send its bpm calculation data to resolume so ableton or dj decks are not a requirement. As long as the beat is audible in the audio and relatively stable it should do a decent job. Give it a shot and report back!

    I've just tried it but there is no way to resync when Ableton Link is activated. If you have animations that starts on the first beat but the counter is on beat 3, you can't resync it. Or do i oversee something?

    • @SeanBowes

      Alt Tap to resync. Check the manual, theres a couple little tips like that in there

    Does it have a delay offset to sync on a LED wall? Because it has +-4 frames delay from laptop to physical led screen.

      seanbowes.com/vj-content-guide or www.jasonfletcher.info/vjloops/vj-content-creators.html has lots of links to vj loops. If you just are making a video for youtube, you can use any video editor to edit them to the music. premiere, final cut, resolve, iMovie, whatever

    • @SeanBowes
      @SeanBowes  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I use a Focusrite, I’ve heard great things about iConnectivity. Most interfaces should work fine, it doesn’t need pristine audio to work

    How does it get the bpm data? Does it use your laptop mic?

    • @SeanBowes
      @SeanBowes  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes it analyzes the audio to calculate the bpm. It works pretty well with the internal mic sometimes, or you can get an audio line from the soundboard and run it into your laptop via an audio interface for a clearer signal.

    • @byroncos
      @byroncos 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @SeanBowes thanks. I already tried it, and yes, it is awesome. I say, for the best result, use a udio feed from the mixer to your computer. It didn't work very well with my laptop mic

    How can I set the input in Pulse to analyse spotify's output? I have tried Voicemeeter but I cannot get it to work...

    • @SeanBowes
      @SeanBowes  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you are on the right track with voicemeeter but I have heard it’s not super user friendly. I have not tried it personally, but it should be able to do this. I am away from my computer this week but I will check it out when I return and see if I can get it working. Let us know if you figure it out in the meantime!

    • @SeanBowes
      @SeanBowes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey @malteschmidt614 ! So I just tried this out and was able to get it to work with Voicemeeter Banana. Make sure you restarted your system after installation. Then I just set my system audio to my speakers like normal. Started up spotify and got a song playing. Then opened voicemeeter, saw audio in the monitors of the Virtual Input and Output. Opened Pulse, and set that to the Voicemeeter Virtual Output. All set! Any success on your end yet?

    super duper cool, BUT: i work alot with x2 - /2 functions in resolume. and i fear that because of how resolume works, instead of keeping the beat and multiplying or dividing it, it just overrides it. sooo i guess i can't use it?

    Will this work without any connection to CDJ's? How does it analyze the incoming music?

    • @SeanBowes
      @SeanBowes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you could use your onboard microphone for decent results. Preferably you can get an audio line from the front of house audio mixer and run that into an audio interface connected to your resolume machine. just need to get the music in like you were going to do some audio reactive stuff, but pulse will analyze it and turn it into accurate bpm values

    • @BrendanFitzGerald309
      @BrendanFitzGerald309 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh awesome! And I am assuming this works even when using HID mode (Serato) on the CDJ's?@@SeanBowes

    • @SeanBowes
      @SeanBowes  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah man it’s really simple. Music can come from anywhere, it doesn’t matter if it’s CDJs or ableton or your little sisters iPod. It just listens to the music, no other data needed.
