I dont think people talk about how skilled and muscular the late 80s and early 90s were. Yes todays guys are taller but dudes back than had more skill and were way more muscular and man tough.
Lewis is easily in the top 10, if not top 5, greatest heavyweight boxers of all time! Not just because of what he achieved in his boxing career, but because of his sportsmanship. He knew Briggs nearly knocked him out in the first round. He still gave him a congratulatory back slap when he survived!

I can't be the only once to notice that those right hands that sent Lewis stumbling in the first were all clearly to the back of that head? First one I thought might have been an accident but he threw like 2-3 more to the same place, if anything more to the back of the head than the first. I don't think Lennox was even that hurt, he just got clipped while off balance, then covered up while Briggs wailed away thinking he had him hurt.

In my opinion Lennox is the more skilled fighter , but the referee should not have called the fight over because Briggs slipped . I think he thought Briggs got punched when he slipped and fell down .
Any guy that’s around that 225lb-230lb weight range can literally make any guy look like somebody’s b**ch. Guys that are in that weight range are still big but they are not too big which gives them more athleticism compared to bigger guys and they are still big enough to be extremely strong and powerful. The guys that I’ve always seen that just downright destroy dudes are usually around 220-230lbs. I’ve seen guys 230lbs that have almost put guys 280lb-300lbs+ in the hospital several times. That athleticism mixed in with that power is no joke. I’ve been in sports fighting for almost 30 years now including boxing, MMA, and wrestling and I’ve done it all and seen it all. Trust me. 👍👍
