I would understand if the resources were limited so trade is required but in the stone world they appear to be so abundant that it almost feels like bringing the required materials would cover any cost for the garment. Even if it was to say "to cover the commission for the garment." I don't think the price should be so steep. But that's just me.
The reason for this is because ryushi made it so that there is a functioning economy and he wants to rule the world as a extreme capitalist since he was a billionaire before the collapse of the world. So he wanted to be in that sort of power again, as well as he would only work if he had control over the new world and senku accepted for the time being so they had a captain what can explore the world. thats the reasoning for it, they want to use the money they get to buy things like oil and other items he has a monopoly on so they don't have to worry about it. Thats the best explanation of it i can give to you.
