I like series 6 apart from one thing:
“WHEN I WAS A LITTLE GIRL I HAD AN IMAGINARY FRIEND. WHEN I GREW UP HE CAME BACK. HE’S CALLED THE DOCT...”
That was also in series 5 lol
Wait why is that bad?
YES YES I FUCKING HATE IT EVERY TIME I WATCH THE GOD DAM EPISODES IT PLAYS THAT CRINGY ASS INTRO WHICH MAKES ME WANT TO JUMP OFF A BRIDGE
Agreed. Very unnecessary!
God I hate that.
I can't stop watching Series 4 because....
1. Donna
2. The new theme
3. Rose's returning storyline
4. The all round brilliant episodes
numpteez ik what you mean about the finale being cluttered
If you like that Series, then you're a fan of the show. Jk
All of the little hints of Rose returning are so creepy
Doctor Who FA'S the finale is quite cluttered if you think about it because you got:
A Dalek invasion
Davrous
Donna leaving as a companian
Rose leaving again
All the companions coming back
Doctor clone
Mickey and Jackie coming from the other dimension
One note on your nr 4, one word... Midnight.
Why does everyone hate on The Unicorn And The Wasp!!! I love it sooo much and just adds to how great series 4 is! 🐝
I don't hate it as much as it comes across, I actually really like the actors and the setting. I just don't like the story very much.
Peter Davison would have Stormed that story?
It has the same vibe as Black Orchid, Tea on the lawn, Cricket !
Roan Hollinger I loved The Unicorn and the Wasp. I gave it 9.5/10. The half deduction was because well...I did think the alien being a giant wasp was a wee bit too goofy perhaps.
Hehe Boi My first ever episode. So obviously I’ve always had a soft spot for it.
100% agreed and I think it is one of the best one time storey
My favorite episodes are the doctor dances and the doctor falls
I hope someone gets this joke
Cheesy Ghost the doctor is uncoordinated
Disappointed Optimist Considering they were using dancing as a metaphor for sexuality wouldn't that be an impotence joke?
Tinkerer if you want to take it that way yes
BAHAHA 😂🤦🏼♀️
The Oncoming Druken Giraffe.
"I loooooove Wilf"
Same.
Nope
Who doesn’t
RIP to his actor 😢
I just finished season 5 the other day and a thought dawned on me: this would have been the perfect way to end the show. I'm not saying there were no good seasons after; not at all. But the episode would have been the perfect ending to the show: the Doctor stepping into the crack and being erased from history, but not completely. His memory would live on as a fairy tale of a space man who protects children from monsters, while also connecting to the theme of fairy tales. As a bonus, it would create a feeling of ambiguity, as to whether the Doctor had ever existed in the first place.
I agree! Only Matts first season had GREAT stories, 11th hour and Vincent and the Pandoricum but even here there were some terrible episodes while almost everything before was mostly far better, I just quit watching afterwards as did everyone I know inc my own son Who still hungrily rewatches the RTD series. HE made Nu Who GREAT Moffatt killed the show by putting it into a steep decline and Chibnall just buried the corpse. Dr Who is dead again, BBC interference.
...oh my god. that would have been so depressing i love it.
@@vladdrakul7851 Moffat bad 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡.
Just stop. Doctor Who is alive and well. Doctor Who can literally never die
@@caleb7551 No it went from the best TV series in the world to being the the utter crap it is today. No one I know who all loved the show 2005 to 2009 still watches. Most of them don't even know it is still running. The fact you refuse to see this si your problem not mine. The MSM don't even talk about it anymore. It is so shamefully awful now.
@@vladdrakul7851 You do realize that this is exactly what happened back in 1989, correct? And did Doctor Who die?
The viewing ratings may have fallen under Moffat, but he is most definitely not the one who "killed" Doctor Who. Series 8 and Series 10 were great series and who was the head writer at the time? The viewing figures dropped significantly around series 9, and they stayed down for series 10. But then, Doctor Who "came back" in 2018, getting, I don't know, 9 million viewers or something like that? And now it's the dumpster fire that it is now? Moffat was not the one who caused this if it was under Chibnall that the viewing ratings dropped from around 9 million to 5 million.
I still love the show, I watch series 1-10 quite regularly. Don't say Doctor Who is "dead" when it is blatantly false.
"Odds are stacked against Martha"
[Batman and Superman will remember this]
I don't understand why people hate daleks in Manhatten... It was decent...
Look I know Doctor Who is supposed to be weird and it has had weird ass monsters, but that Dalek thing at the end was just stupid, terrifying, disgusting and eww
I loved those episodes. Maybe it's because I'm a sucker for dalek stories, but it really did something for me
Exactly. I was always a fan. I think it was one of my first episodes.
Dildos. Dildos on it's head.
Just because the design was a bit dodgy doesn’t mean it’s not a great story. Everyone hates but but it’s actually really good
thank you so much for not crapping on series 6! people hate on that series for being terrible, however, there are many great episodes in it, objectively speaking. from the opening two parter, doctors wife, good man goes to war, night terrors, girl who waited, god complex, I find all those to be excellent. and then there are rebel flesh, almost people, closing time which aren't perfect, but they still are overall very good. let's kill hitler is not perfect, but it has some great ideas to it. series 6 is not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. as for series 3, I admit that I like many of the episodes that are rendered as bad in it: smith and jones, Shakespeare code, gridlock, 42... however, thank you so much for not bashing the character of Martha, but rather how the show seemed to be doing it's best to not have us like her/comparing her to rose when she deserved better. over time, I have grown to really appreciate and adore Martha, but the show did us no favors... she's someone we've had to arrive at adoring on our own. and thanks for saying right off the bat that u find good in every season. I can't make a listing yet, bc I still haven't seen all of series 8. tbh, unlike 90% of the fanbase, there are episodes from series 7 that I like a lot too: Snowmen, Bells of Saint John, Rings of Akhaten, Hide, Name of the Doctor, and Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS (I know that people hate those episodes, but each to his own) still, great video!
Philadelphia Whovian I love Journey, A Town Called Mercy, Angels, and The Crimson Horror. No the biggest fan of Name of the Doctor because there was too much stand still moments. Most of the episode was walked rather than run
Matts my fave
I'm always surprised that people don't rate Father's Day from Season One higher. For me it has the most emotional punch of any episode in season one. Dalek marks a great return for Doctor Who's big-bad and all (albeit with clunky moments), and The Empty Child has bags of atmosphere, but I find myself thinking about Father's Day off-and-on more than any other episode. Maybe it being filmed round the corner from me helps, I don't know.
probably becuase the episode 'Father's Day' feels so cheap despite being written adequately.
I love that one, my father was killed before I was born so it was a special episode for me to watch as a kid
I'm surprised how much people seem to hate series 2. That was by far my favorite series. It had some bad episodes, but between the impossible planet/Satan pit, school Reunion, girl in the fireplace, Rise of the Cybermen/ Age of steel and Doomsday, it was easily the best series. Plus, it had my second favorite companion and favorite doctor
Totally agree!! Donna was always my favourite, but Rose was a close second. and this series made me fall in love with 10 omggg
There are only three things I dislike about Series 2:
A) Rose (sorry, she was good in Series 1 though)
B) Fer Her (just mentioning this episode feels like invoking Satan)
C) New Earth (absolutely terrible episode imo)
Other than that, I really like it. Every other episode is good, Idiot's Lantern is not really good but at least I can watch it and Love&Monsters is surprisingly enjoyable.
I would put 2 higher, but I don't know where. It does have some campy episodes, but even in those, David Tennant is still at his most charming and fun. Later he was even more brilliant, when he got to play more dark and complex emotions, but charming Ten is always watchable.
Damb straight. should have at least made the top 5.
Series 1 & 2 were my favorites.
"I like the Silence more than I like the weeping angels."
Dalek: DO NOT BLASPHEME! DO NOT BLASPHEME! DO NOT BLASPHEME!
Just making a joke btw, not hating.
Explain. EXPLAIN. EXPLAAAAIIIINNNN!!!!!
It's all good.
The most annoying character for me was Danny Pink
Rotjunk Festergut yeah....cant argue with that
For sure.
Rotjunk Festergut I hated him at first but grew to love him after seeing he gave his speech to the Doctor about not being a soldier. The most annoying companion for me was Clara.
I don't think he was annoying, he was "just" uninteresting.
Annoying would be Jackie Tyler.
Rotjunk Festergut isn’t your name it’s Jeffy
I loved Capaldi's guitar playing and sunglasses. EPIC!!!
Wow, somebody else is prefering Silence to Angels! Yeah!
Count me in that number too, overall anyway. If they had stayed in just Blink I might disagree.
Yvonne Van What who
The boneless are the most terrifying to me.
The angels got a bit ruined tbf, quite sad
I like the design of the Silents, but what they actually do to you is incredibly underwhelming. I mean, they literally "make ooo faces, shoot lighting and explode people" (to paraphrase Stubagful).
I frickin' LOOOVED Heaven Sent! Even the episode title shows how great it its!
My favorite series is series 1 which is really weird but I personally loved every single episode of it cause the characters underwent a journey that felt real. Series 6 is the worst for me because I had to drag my ass through it.
Series 1 was truly fantastic!
Series 2 is my favourite just because of the amount of amazing episodes in it
Favourite main companions: (Sarah Jane not included bc I consider a classic companion more)
10. Rory
9. River Song
8. Martha
7. Nardole
6. Amy
5. Clara
4. Bill
3. Rose
2. Captain Jack
1. Donna
Adam Mitchell and Mickey Smith don't like this comment xD
@Kaathe and Frampt
Mickey Smith I can understand, but who in the world cares about Adam Mitchell?
Kaathe and Frampt I don't really consider Mickey a MAIN companion.
Adam Mitchell's mom cares about him... probably xD
Alright, this answer I'll accept xD
When I switched to the video I thought it was an old one, but it just came out lol. Awesome list, I basically agree with everything said.
River Song is so ridiculously fun and awesome and I adore her in every episode she's in I literally can't stop watching...BUT she was SO underused, like, CRIMINALLY underused!
Agreed. Series 10 is Capaldi at his absolute best! I loved Bill (she replaced Donna as my favorite New series companion). Great episodes-- The Pilot was good, I liked Smile (those robots were creepy), World Enough and Time was phenomenal, and personally The Doctor Falls was one of my favorites
SirJedi Sentinel agreed
Almost a coincidence, considering that we both had the same favourite companion until she got replaced by another one, in your case Bill, in my case Clara.
Jim Fish do not fear scorn. While she isn't my favorite, I do like Clara.
For me Series 9 was when Capaldi was at his best. (It's tied at top for series 4 in my opinion)
I did love bill ( even though she is not my favorite ) but I was not the biggest fan of the writer my favorite series is 2 because I love the story's/writing and I love rose and the doctor and then series 3 would be my second favorite.
Super fun in the Corona times, thx YT for bringing this across my timeline today. In retrospect they’re all darn good. Thx Nathaniel! Time for a cozy rewatch, again.

The tone of the series is amazing
1: series 4
PERFECT 👌
One of your doctor who videos randomly showed up in my recommendations and I've been bingeing them and you made me decide to rewatch the show. I lost interest and gave up on the show during season 7 but I'm really enjoying the show this time around and I'm excited to see seasons 8, 9, and 10
Im currently playing catchup as I hadn't watched Who since Sylvester McCoy. I'm currently half way through season four and its great. I love catherine tate, i still feel myself waiting for her tell us that she 'ain't bovvered' 😂
There's also a lot of personal bias when ranking the series. With every TV show there is a time when we most enjoy it, and for most DW fans that is when we first discovered it. Its a lot easier to enjoy a show about time travel and evil talking pepper pots when you are much younger, so that probably explains why the newer series don't get as much universal recognition from the majority of the fan base who first started watching during the Davies era.
Ikr, re-watching RTD right now and oh boy it was better in my memories. Can't wait to see what I'll think of Moffat.
My first series was series 6 and it is not my favourite.
Nope, nope, nope
I started watching with William Hartnell, and it's hard to remember that far back.
Series 1 is absolutely brilliant, bringing in a new light for the Doctor and also taking away the few flaws of the classic era, such as Gallifrey with the amazing plot of the Time War. It brought back the Daleks perfectly and gave us gems like 'Dalek', 'The empty child' and 'Bad Wolf', even when parts didn't age well they still hold up. Fucking phenomenal. This is upon rewatch, actually a fairly amazing series.
Series 2 definetly has flaws, Rose's character became more annoying and left me feeling really bad for Micky, Tennant ..works.. in these season? It's not that impressive but what is impressive is the Christmas invasion, School Reunion and the great finale. This series was decent at best, worse upon rewatch.
Series 3 was fucking brilliant in my eyes, Tennant was much better with performances like in 'Smith and Jones' speaking of Jones, Martha was brilliant in these series, especially in Gridlock, SAJ, 42 and so on. At best the episodes are artwork (Gridlock) at worst they are decent (42). Great series.
Series 4, WHY NO FACE OF BOE? Fucking great, amazing, good series, no face of boe though which is alright:) Donna is the best companion ever and Wilfred is the be- WHY NO BOEHEAD?
1) Series 4 (Not much to say here: the best of the show. Not perfect, but still packed with amazing episodes and really the season were we got the best Tennant we could ever hope for.)
2) Series 10 (Technically we must wait for Twice Upon a Time before expressing our thoughts, but still.. this not only had some of the best episodes and even fewer problems than the ninth season; but it even had better story arc and an incredible ending)
3) Series 9 (Easily one of the best of the show for me, with some of the best episodes and very very few duds. Heaven Sent is still in my Top 5 episodes of the entire show and even Hell Bent I thought it was a good ending)
4) Series 2 (there are probably 3 or 4 of my favourite episodes of the entire series here and plus, it's the season in which I really started to fall in love with this show)
5) Series 3 (Probably the weakest of Tennant, but thankfully it's got some of the best episodes in the series and a pretty great story arc with The Master, which I loved in both of his incarnations)
6) Tennant's Specials (I was surprised that these did not make the Top 5 of my list, but still I found them to be some of the best episodes ever, expecially Waters of Mars)
7) Series 5 ( the best of Smith, with one of the best story arcs in the series and some of the best episodes... the only reason it's still a bit low is because I simply like the other entries better)
8) Series 1 (I learned to love this series with time, and even if it is in the bottom half of my list I think overall has some of the best episodes; plus, I love Nine)
9) Series 6 (there are some great episodes here, but I'd say the problem of this season is the story arc that got way to complex and in the end really amounted to nothing; also it's got a terrible season finale)
10) Series 7 (overall I'd say pretty mediocre and with not many episodes that stand up, with the exception of the first and the last)
11) Series 8 (Danny Pink and a whole lot of bad episodes ruined it for me, plus Capaldi was still not that much fun here)
EmmeKira twice upon a time isnt included in season 10
Wow I agree with everything except that I didn't like S2 that much apart from The Impossible Planet, Satans Pit and the Cybermen eps
EmmeKira You didn’t think “A Town Called Mercy” and “Angels take Manhatten” stood up well? Those are my two favorites from the season. Also I’m weird and like “The Crimson Horror.”
Just been rewatching old videos. On the off chance you see this, have a beautiful day!
1. Series 10 (favorite Doctor, favorite companion, amazing finale)
2. Series 4
3. Series 9
4. Series 8
5. Series 5
6. Series 3
7. Series 7
8. Series 1
9. Series 2
10. Series 6
But I actually love all of them
Capaldi is my fave doc as well haha :D
I love watching your Doctor Who videos. Every time you say something/point something out I'm just like "YES!! SAME HERE!! I THINK SO TOO!" or I'm like "I hadn't thought about that before, but I can totally see it now!!!". And I just feel so happy watching your videos. You bring up a lot of really good points and it's just a lot of fun to watch your videos. Because of your videos I've started listening more to Big Finish and watching Classic Who, so in a way, thank you, I think? Anyway, I think your videos are great!
(I know I'm kinda late to the party, but I was rewatching this because I didn't remember how you'd ranked them.)
11. Series 7
Part 1 is ok but Part 2 is bad
10. Series 10
Sick finale but lots of meh eps
9. Series 6
A mixed bag of great and bad
8. Series 3
Some amazing episodes
7. Series 2
I love nearly all of S2
6. 2009 specials
THE WATERS OF MARS 😍
5. Series 8
I love Clara and 12
4. Series 1
Near perfect series
3. Series 9
Would've been #1 but hell bent
2. Series 5
Love the story arch, 11 is great
1. Series 4
Everything is perfect 👌
Quite a good list ! Better than the video's list !
Mostly agree with the list just would have Series 9 and Series 4 in one of the top 2. Idk which one to put number 1 tho. XD
Series 6 is my favorite
Series 9 in number 2
numpteez hell bent physically hurt me tbh
Tbh, I love how chavvy and how gay the RTD era was. I grew up on a council estate in England and watching mickey the garage worker and rose from the chip shop save the universe made me cry. I felt like I could save the universe
Donna is great! My fav companion for sure! I also love Eccleston and wish to see more of him as DrW too.
I like your list tbh I'm about to rewatch series 6 soon, for me my favourite series is series 1
ChrisPHD12 agreed I think series 1 is the best and it really helps that Christopher eccelston is my favorite doctor
I think series 6 started of strongly and had a great end but the middle was a patchy (episode 3-6) then 7&8&9 were good but then 10 wasn't great then 11 was alright then 12 was okay but then it ended strongly
Matt is the best dr
I think one of my favourite long running storyline was the whole River Song thing! So for me season 6 was one of the best if not *the* best season. But then the way they tied it all up in The Husbands of River Song was just gorgeous, I wish she'd got more time with Capaldi.
Completely agree. I loved River's story!
1 - Series 6 - Best opening to a series ever, maybe my favourite ever. The Silence (before they were ruined) was my all-time favourite DW enemy.
2 - Series 5 - Silence story arc, several superb episodes (part 1 with Weeping Angels) throughout the series, great characters like the Dream Doctor.
3 - Series 10 - Just as I started to like Peter, they took him away. The supporting cast was insanely good too. Bill, Missy, Nardole & the Master at the end.
4 - Series 7 - Pretty much liked (not loved) every episode in this series.
5 - Tenth Doctor Specials - Waters of Mars is one of my all-time favourite episodes ever, The End of Time parts were immense.
6 - Series 4 - Overall decent series, spoilt with a very poor series finale, didn't care for the Sontaran 2-parter or Unicorn & the Wasp, or Turn Left. Up & down series for me.
7 - Series 2 - Just for the fact it had several episodes I really liked; The Girl in the Fireplace, The Idiot's Lantern, The Impossible Planet & The Satan Pit.
8 - Series 1 - Dalek, The Empty Child & The Doctor Dances; could honestly not miss the rest.
9 - Series 8 - Yep, only Orient Express was a superb episode for me, I did like Robot of Sherwood & Time Heist though.
10 - Series 9 - Heaven Sent... Literally only interesting episode.
11 - Series 3 - For similar reasons, Martha didn't work for me.
So I guess Matt Smith was my favourite Doctor, or rather the stories told and the enemies he fought.
RGBSF Series four finale and turn left are my favorite episodes
I completly agree, matt is the best and your list is great
I liked daleks in manhattan...
Daniel 89 we should form a club
I'm in
I'm down to start a club
I'm in!
THE COUNCIL HAS VOTED
Discussion Table for Season/Series 9: So how should we start off the new season?
Capaldi: I want to ride in on a tank playing an electric guitar while wearing sunglasses.
i agree, season ten and four were amazing
Idk about my full ranking. But, my personal favorite would have to be S9, I just loved Capaldi and Clara'a dynamic soooooo much. It felt like that's what DW should be, 2 best friends wizzing around space, having fun and saving the world. Although I do agree, Sleep no more and Hell Bent where really badz
I have yet to rewatch some of these series more recently, but the top of my own list would probably include series 1, 4, 5, 6, and 9, with series 2 and 10 somewhere in the middle. Like you, there isn't a single series I completely dislike, but some came out a little more weakly through either the start of the series ( as may have been the case with series 3) or towards the latter half ( as was the case with series 2 and series 6, despite how much I still love that one).
Also, when will we get a classic series video? I think we've been waiting a little too long for one now.
Well, the question around "when will you do Classic Who" is affected by what you expect out of me. If you're wanting me to start doing rankings for Classic the same way I do for New, that's a LONG ways off because I'll want to be fairly certain I can give the whole breadth of the thing of a fair shake. If you're talking about doing reviews of classic stories as I catch up on them, that's a bit more viable.
Council of Geeks If that's the case, then I guess we'll have to go with episode reviews. I know there was already one for Power of the Deleks, but perhaps a good plan would be to review of the most highly regarded episodes for each Doctor, like Inferno, Genesis of the Deleks, and Earthshock.
I really like your channel because you’re one of the few channels that make videos on Doctor Who that are actually positive!
Well it’s my favorite show. I try to be positive on it without doing so blindly.
...I loved Unicorn and the Wasp
BobnosaurusSteve SAME
It’s a good episode, nothing groundbreaking for me but still really enjoyable. Yet, I say the same for “Dinosaurs on a Spaceship” and “The Crimson Horror”
For me, I really loved series 8&9 because I thought the individual plots were deep and interesting (Heaven Sent, Mummy on the Orient, Time Heist, Listen, and Last Christmas). I also love how, in The Girl Who Died, they referred back to season 4. It was a creative move to utilize Calpadi's previous role as a plot device, and it reminded us what makes The Doctor special: that he is kind and will always try to save people.
My opinion is that after Day of the Doctor, Dr Who as a show died. But when I watch all the shows again and look at what other people say I suppose that I realise it has been dead for sometime. The meaning of Doctor Who running away from the oldest question and the Gallifrey saga was final. I think when writers are afraid to change a show or let go of old enemies like the Daleks and the Cybermen etc and be bold and go for change. Season 11 was an opportunity to completely change the show and the story like it should have drastically changed with Capaldi. Who took the long way home in one episode (heaven sent) to complete the entire Gallifrey/Timelord arc. 12th doctor was a failure because of DotD the destiny trap that forced the TimeLords to send regeneration energy on Trensalore because they mentioned 13 doctors and therefore were realised as architects of supplying the cycle of regeneration in order for the doctor to save Gallifrey.
The problem with the civilisation around the TimeLords is the conceit that they would have restricted themselves only to base themselves exclusively on Gallifrey and have so many Tardis's that old museum Tardis's would be used as the only source of their protection from the Dalek war and the very simple realisation of a bland civilisation that did not have their own internal politics and diversity and civil disorders and sects etc.
The problem with how things have developed in Doctor Who is that is has died because of the fear of change and failure that kills creativity and imagination. Doctor Who is no longer radical when it is looking to serve the fans. Doctor Who dies because it has not been too brazen or bold and a female doctor is simply too measured. The main problem is with the editing styles and the presentation of "ideal" doctors. The edits that wind up on the cutting room floor of awkward and difficult experiences and the stream of response and action and the personal and intimate expression of the personality and its foibles have been removed from the performance when they are the most powerful aspects of the story telling. This is why I think that shooting episodes of Doctor Who should change as well. They could do this with shooting an entire episode in one continuous shot and to have the return of live episodes where mistakes and the pure tension of performance can be captured and expressed in the tension of the spontaneous and insecure.
I would have preferred to have had the Doctor stranded in another universe (an inverted John Pertwee era) and face a whole new set of races and there not to be any more Daleks or Cybermen. It would have even been interesting if that stranding in space in a Tardis that didn't work anymore because of a new universe was a test for the Doctor, a challenge to overcome. I think the series has been too dependent and fearful of losing the contract for the Daleks and this has held the show back. They should just let the legacy go and allow the show to go somewhere else and reset the series but simply allow the mythos to be the backdrop, the backstory. The alternative universes had not been explored very much and the Doctor's own civilisation would not be restricted in the way the Doctor appears to be confined to only one version of reality and only one history.
The doctor has too much baggage with companions and restrictions from the fear to be ambitious, creative and imaginative. Monster of the week and the lack of credible sense of threat or danger holds the progression back so the intergenerational fan service takes too much priority over the pursuit of gripping story telling. There is a fear of moving forward which is strange considering it is a show about multiverse, time and the adventure headlong into the unknown. Maybe this universe has been exhausted too much. Why would the doctor be afraid of all the other universes there can be, I'm sure the Timelords were not afraid of the parallel worlds or the other universes and the Doctor is all about exploration - so why just stick with the one universe? This is where the doctor needs to relinquish the 50 years of baggage and start afresh. Why does there have to be restriction to one universe and preference to the universe where the Daleks exist rather than the universe where they don't exist. It is stories like that that we realise that compared to the other universes the Doctor actually loves the Daleks so much that the doctor choose this universe as the one that is most canon or preferable to exist within, which is really strange and it doesn't properly or truly express the true nature of the doctor and the advancement of the Gallifrey/Timelord civilisation that the doctor comes from.
I think some of the changes to Doctor Who would represent an important step change in the revival of the show which has been dying for sometime and it is misplaced nostalgia is not enough to sustain the show for very long which is why it has been dependent on gimmicks which are already fast exhausted and making it seem that the creative potential has been long extinct. Which is a sad conclusion to reach because Doctor Who does provide joy and happiness to people, it does provide an escape and guilty pleasure but it is heavily reliant on the character emotional experience of Sci-Fi themed DramaSoap rather than servicing the essence of the Dramatic Science Fiction that is essentially lacking despite the hollow signalling and the relentless evacuation to flee from last weeks inconsistencies and glaring plot holes.
It is just my opinion. Although people like Doctor Who for different reasons and they want to role play and experience new adventures with their designated favourite doctor and play the permutations that can be had with the long mythos of Doctor Who that is held on to too tightly imho.
Nice list man, I'd say mine would be pretty much the same but for me series 10 & 4 would switch as 10 is my favorite series so far. Another awesome video, great job!
Series 10 is amazing, but I hated the monk trilogy. Weakest point in my opinion.
Austinitsua yes!! Lie of the land was bland!!
Extremis was amaze-balls in my opinion but the other two parts weren't up to scratch.
I thought Extremis and Pyramid were the high point of the whole season. Lie of the Land was a massive letdown though.
Yeh agreed. Too anti-climatic
Austinitsua tpateotw is amazing tho
11. Series 2 (Patchiest series they've done I mean love and monsters come on... )
10. Series 9 (flipping hell bent but heaven sent is good)
9. Series 8 (Bit bland and a dinosaur running round London I mean come on)
8. Series 3 (I think blink brings it up because if not they underused Martha she could have been amazing)
7. Series 1
6. Series 7 (Some great episodes like Angels take Manhattan, time of the Doctor, The rings of Akhaten but some sh*t stuff)
5. Specials (I think they're great)
4. Series 6 (I think started great then Middle was good but ending wasn't as good)
3. Series 4 (I think it was good but not my favourite)
2. Series 10 (That ending OMFG it was AMAZING)
1. Series 5 (wasn't expecting it too no.1 but looking back yeah I love it, started strong then next 2 were bit weak but then pretty much every other episode pretty much I really enjoyed and the dream lord , time of angels omg, Vincent and the doctor was amazing, I enjoyed the lodger and the pandorica opens speech for me was good) just an all around great series
Series 7 had "A Town Called Mercy" though.
Darien White Underrated episode!
Even if I don't always agree with your choices, you make your points for each placement well and that's all any fan really needs.
‘I’ve never had a series that I hated’
Series 11- Just wait
Series 12 is good.
I knew I would find a comment bashing this season which really sucks, cuz it’s not horrible. It just doesn’t have any overarching theme. You can watch the episodes out of order, and that is not a good thing
I'm torn between series 4 and 2 because I grew up watching series 2 but then I also like watching 4
Please debate which series is better.
Can you do a ranking of the sonic devices
I'll just spoil it right now, #1 is going to be the Sonic Lipstick.
Nah number one is the Sonic Sunglasses
Council of Geeks is that even a thing?😂
I think missy had it in season 10
TheNextGenToiletPaperRoll Thats the Name no Sarah Jane smith has it
10. S7 (hated 11 and Clara)
9. S5 (I don't find any of the episodes special enough)
8. S3 (Terrific finale, but the rest of the series isn't as gripping as it could have been, and I don't like Martha that much)
7. S9 (hated Clara and Me, but i like most of the episodes)
6. S6 (I genuinely enjoyed the arc, despite how convoluted it is, and this is when i like Matt Smith the most)
5. S2 (Although I dislike 10 and Rose, for similar reasons as 11 and Clara, i love nearly every episode in this season)
4. S10 (Extremely solid through out, with some of the best episodes ever, but sadly let down by a few duds)
3. S4 (10 and Donna are my favourite pairing, but the episodes themselves aren't that amazing)
2. S8 (12 is my favourite Doctor, in this season especially, and I love nearly every episode in this season)
1. S1 (I think every episode in this season is superb, and 9, being my first, will always be the Doctor closest to my heart)
Here’s my list:
12: season 6
11: season 7
10: season 2
9: season 11
8: season 9
7: season 8
6: season 3

I have this weird tendency to leave a comment at the precise video when I've finally made the leap and subscribed to a channel, and needless to say this was the one here lol. Donna's been my favorite companion so far as well, though I've loved the general way the show has progressed from Series 1 till now. I am of course curious how Series 11 will fare once we've reached that point, but this is a great look back at the show so far! Thanks for doing these videos.
My ranking would be 9>4>5>1>10>Specials>3>6>8>2>7
9 is highest because I love Hell Bent. I understand why people hates it, but for me it works perfectly.
6 is that low because I really don't like that arc. I mean, yeah, the reveal was done awesomely, but there was almost zero emotional impact on amy and rory. So, when amy actually kills madame kovarian it really isn't believable for me.

Series 1 is my number 1, and the reason for that is because how well constructed it is as a series, even though every episode is one story, none of them feels disposable. Every new story you watch, the series progresses and you understand a little more about the characters, and about that world it's presenting and it does it so so well. All of the arcs in that series are so well done, the characters are so fleshed out, everything fits in the grand scheme of things. And honestly, it's just so charming. So yeah, series 1 is just perfect for me, and I don't even love every episode, but it all fits so well together.
And just for the record, I watched it first in 2015, so it's not like a childhood nostalgia thing that I have for the series, I just really find it that good
Which NuWho screwdriver is your favorite? Personally I like 12's
I loved Season 10. I hated Capaldi when he first came on, I didn't enjoy how he didn't care for human life, and how dismissive he was about people's concerns. Hell Bent almost made me stop watching until he left, because I remember how big of a deal it was that Tennant grabbed the gun and then Capaldi... well, spoilers. But Season 10 I loved him. He got better by that point, and he and Bill worked together really well. I liked how Earth-centric the series was, and I liked how we had both Bill and Nardole to work with. I feel like once Capaldi lost Clara, he got, so much better. And Season 4 is undoubtedly the best.
Wow I just got chills at the mere MENTION of TEC/TDD
Are you my mummy?
*shivers*
I only like time heist and Orient express from s8. Season 1 is the best!
Gui Logarithm You weren’t a fan of “Flatline?” Also I enjoyed season 1, but I love season 4 the best. Just my opinion

I really like series 3 and would swap it on ur list with series 2 (each to his own) , but overall I very much agree with your list! good job :)
Psyche M I feel that series 2 was amazing. New Earth. I loved it. And then there's all the cyber episodes! Fabulous. There's only a few episodes I dislike (Tooth and Claw, School Reunion, Love and monsters) But overall it's my favorite series with the tenth doctor!
Psyche M But I feel you have a point. There are some great episodes like Blink, Human Nature and The Family Of Blood. But apart from that I think the episodes were a bit plain so the ratio for me is a bit uneven.
Cool beans, and u definitely have a point! we just have different tastes, so we are both right. I actually really like smith and jones, Shakespeare code, gridlock, utopia, sound of the drums and 42 as well as blink. however, with series 2, I liked it at first, (except for rise of the cybermen/age of steel, which I never was crazy over at all), however, when I went back and rewatched the series again, it's didn't hold up for me at all. I began to see many things that I didn't like with Christmas invasion, New Earth, Tooth and Claw, Love and Monsters, Rise of the cybermen/age of steel. they just aren't my thing. but of course, each to his own :) thanks for disagreeing peacefully
My top 3 favorites:
1. Series 5 - I love everything about this series and it has some of my favorite episodes like The Eleventh Hour, VIncent and the Doctor, Time of Angels, Amy's choice, and many many more.
2. Series 4 - Love most of the episodes but The unicorn bees and the wasps really ticked me off. But in general the whole series was done splendidly. I love the relationship between Doctor and Donna. Loved how River Song was introduced in the show.
3. Series 1- Although Christopher Eccleston only appeared in one season but he was able to portray the doctor phenomenally. I loved him since the very first episode. It has a few episodes that I don't really enjoy but nothing too bad.
I liked series 7
Noah Crafted me too
But you've got a minecraft pic and probably you're 7
Noah Crafted good for you, I personally thought it was ok.
Noah Crafted the only thing I did not like about it was it felt a little jumbled I kinda wish Clara was with the 11th doctor a little more
Thought it was way better than 6, 8 and 9. 10, I don't know yet since I haven't seen it yet. But I'm guessing even better than 10.
I’d say it’s rlly hard cuz there so different

The thing is I love certain episodes usually
BEST TO WORSE: 1,4,specials,3,5,2,6,10,7,8,9,
Series 6 is my personal favourite; it has some very decisive monsters, and the storyline for the impossible planet, day of the moon and the wedding of river song is GENIUS. TWORS is literally my favourite episode. Not too big on the curse of the black spot or the doctors wife, but the rest are very good (and the rebel flesh story is probably the scariest episode I'd ever seen).

I absolutely love series 5 and Matt Smith 🙌
Is it just me that really disliked series 9? I agree that heaven sent was brilliant, but apart from that I felt it was fairly dull overall, the only series where I felt as though watching it was a chore
luke ingold I wasn't impressed by Series 9. Heaven Sent is fantastic. I also really like Before the Flood and I don't mind Sleep No More (yes. You read that right) and Face the Raven. But overall I thought the series was "ho-hum".
I really loved the opening Dalek two-parter
Series 9 is on the top of my list with series 4. I still respect your opinion though.
I agree. Most episodes were meh. And since this was a series full of 2 parters the stories would just drag out.
VeNate13 A series of two-parters wouldn't autumatically be bad. Some stories are complex and in-depth enough to warrant two episodes. It's just that not all of the Series 9 stories are like that.
Lol, season 7 was my first new series. - My first Classic was Season 12 with Tom Baker.
Ok I gotta be honest Clara was my favorite companion
Now wait for the triggered replies come in XD
H0WMDARE U EVER SAY CLARA WAS GOOD SHE WAS THE WORSAT EVER I HATE U I CAN BELIEVE IT SHE WAS SUPID AND AWFUL AND CAME BACK TO LIFE YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO THE DOCTOR WHO COMMUNITY THIS IS ASWFUL I CANT BELIEVE YOU. AHHHHH CLARA WAS STUPID POINTLESS AD HAD NO CHARACTER DEVLOPMENT AND ANNOYING AND MADE THE SEASON WORST
Crazy blue bird i agree
I hate s2 except for school reunioun
me toó XD!!
Crazy blue bird you druggo
i loooooved series 10 ending, with the puddle girl coming back. Great idea and superb end for Bill.
Series 9 and Series 4 have to be my favorite modern who series.
But I like Donna more than Clara :P
Series 9 is great
Series 3 and 4 are the best imo. Series 10 is the only one with more than 2 boring episodes imo.
@Liam Farrell Imo it's
10. Series 7
9. Series 8
8. Series 2
7. Series 9
6. Series 6
5. Series 10
4. Series 5
3. Series 3
2. Series 1
1. Series 4
There are so many episodes that I need to rewatch before making any solid judgements
I personally believe season 10 was the worst season in recent years. The only good part of the season was that one episode (forgot the name) that was simulation but that was made invalid because the next 2/3 of the three parter just had nothing to do with it and the season finale. Everything else had been seen before, too rushed or was just straight cartoonish
SpankMeSanta look good but it's a very generic plot
Season 10 had a lot of meh episodes but oxygen and world enough and time were great
For me it would be 6, I think that it had an overarching story that went beyond the mystery box really did it wonders, plus it had some very good episodes with only a few not so good ones. If there’s anything that brings it down slightly, it would have to be a) the fucking intro, so irritating and unnecessary, and b) the finale, which was ‘fine’, but not really finale material. That said, it’s where Amy and Rory are at their best, it’s when the bulk of River’s arc happens, and “The Impossible Astronaut”/“Day of the Moon” is possibly my all time favourite Doctor Who story, it’s between that and “The Frontier in Space”.
Can you do top 10 Christmas specials
I might rank them after the new one comes out.
Council of Geeks okay
Council of Geeks cool
You and I really enjoy different things in Doctor Who (A lot of the tie anyway, my second favourite series is the same as yours, though because of different episodes) The way I made my list of series rankings was by scoring the individual episodes and averaging them out. This meant a good series could really be let down by a bad episode. From worst to best I rank them 8; 2; 9; 7; 6; 3; 5; 4; 10; 1.
My favourite Series:
1. Series 7
2. Series 9
3. Series 10
4. Series 4
5. Series 6
6. Series 5
7. Series 8
8. Series 3
9. Series 1
10. Series 2
Come at me! Clara is my favourite companion! I know my opinion is unpopular, but just remember. It's mine. I'm not speaking for anyone else. Anywhere. I respect everyone's opinions.
Chibi Who Yes! I agree
I AGREE TOO finally some one who shares my opinion. thumbs up!
Chibi Who my favourite series
1) Series 7
2) Series 5
3) Series 6
4) Series 1
5) Series 9

I think you can guess who my favourite doctor is
i liked clara but all the seasons he joined i don't liked and i thinks itas because of the doctor in series 7 i thinks Matt Smith was too serious i thinks its because of Amy and Rory and series 8 and 9 Capaldi most times was scary (most on 8) not looking like the doctor
I love Clara too but I would rank em like this:
1) Series 4 (+2009/10 specials)
2) Series 3
3) Series 1
4) Series 9
5) Series 6
6) Series 7 (+2013 specials)
7) Series 5
8) Series 2
9) Series 8
10) Series 10
I am very aware that I have a very different opinion than most people, partly because think that Steven Moffat is way better than Russell T. Davies.
11. Series 2
10. Series 1 (sorry, I didn't like Christopher Eccleston as the doctor at all.)
9. Series 11 (I know that the video was released earlier, but I thought that I'd add it anyway. Jodie Whittaker was okay, but boring assistants and full of cringy moments.)
8. Series 3 (Some good episodes, but on an average, not as good as later series.)
7. Series 5 (Matt Smith was my favourite doctor, but a high percentage of episodes were weak.)
6. Series 7 (I actually liked series 7. Yes, it had a few bad episodes, but I liked the story of Clara being at different points in time. Overall most disappointing series, because I was expecting so much after epic series 6.)
5. Series 8 (Peter Capaldi and Clara had good chemistry, and many standout episodes.)
4. Series 10 (Many amazing episodes, including the best finale ever in doctor who. However, most episodes are pretty average, and although I loved Bill's storyline, she was okay but not as good as Amy or Clara. Nardole was funny, but comedy was his only role.
3. Series 4 (Tennant at his best. Some phenomenal episodes, like silence in the library, midnight and the last one with the daleks (that sounds lame, but I forgot what it's called) David Tennant carried his charisma around with him better than ever, but I hated Donna.)
2. Series 9 (One of the most hated series, but I thought that it was one of the best. Capaldi and Clara at their best. The darkest and most poignant series. 11 out of 12 episodes were good, 8 of which were amazing: Magician's apprentice, witch's familiar, before the flood, under the lake, Zygon invasion/inversion, face the raven, HEAVEN SENT! The girl who died, the woman who lived and hell bent were all good (yes, I like hell bent) but not amazing. Sleep no more was boring, but the only bad episode.)
1. Series 6 (Probably not a popular #1 choice, but hear me out: Matt Smith at his best. Amy and Rory my favourite assistants, and the audience feels empathetic for them. Compelling storyline. My favourite doctor who alien: the silence. The impossible astronaut, day of the moon, the rebel flesh, the almost people, A GOOD MAN GOES TO WAR (my second favourite episode after series 10 finale), Let's kill Hitler, Closing time, Wedding of River Song. River is my second favourite character, after, of course, the doctor. The storyline of Amy and Rory being River's parents, and 'the woman who killed the doctor' storyline were genius. Overall epic and very character driven series mixed with Matt Smith's charisma. An example of professional storytelling.

“I’ve never had a whole series that I thought was a waste of my time!” ... Hmm, this was recorded before series 11 wasn’t it.
Yes it was. Are these two related? No. Stop finding reasons to sh*t on season 11
(Just for the récord, I DO think it is the weakest season, but stilll, there’s The Woman Who Fell to Her, Rosa, It Takes You Away)
@@landlighterfirestar5550 If Chibnall stopped giving me reasons to stop shitting on his era then I would 🤷♂️
Agree about Series 4. Donna is simply fantastic, and her and the Doctor's chemistry elevates even the weaker episodes. And then you tie that up with a massive reunion finale and it just hits all the right buttons for me.
My list (Worst to best):
Series 5
Series 7
Series 6
Series 8
Series 9
Series 3
Series 2

btw this is just my opinion (as you can tell I'm not that big a fan of Matt Smith...)
I generally agree with the bell curve here, but 6 being so high? That I can't understand xD
Season 6 is by far my least favourite season followed by Season 7
Dude what don't you like about it? It has some genius storylines with a beautiful cyclical story, amazing ideas in the form of the wedding of river song and one of my favourite who creatures ever, the silence.

As is pretty obvious, I vastly prefer the Moffat-Capaldi era (my favourite era of New Who) over the Moffat-Smith era and I sometimes find RTD to be rather inconsistent.
I love the master in series 3... just me?
Okay.
Surprisingly, our lists are practically identical. I totally agree with you on these.
I totally agree with your top and bottom halves, I'm just unsure how I'd precisely order them within those halves.
I liked season 9
Why do I always happen to watch you when I’m sick
Comfort food viewing?
