  • Best viewed at 1440p setting. Exploring an abandoned factory with DJI Avata 2, flown from outside near the street. With the random thin dangling cables it is slow flying but high consequence. I marvel somewhat at all the places folks will go to graffiti, hanging out of windows, and walking on crumbling rooftops.

    Right on. Look forward to seeing more with it. ✌️

    Oh yeah. Amazing film work with drone! Glad it didn’t fall down one those holes to rest with the ghosts trapped below. 😂

    Nice! So much more engaging than ripping through at top speed, as talented as that is. It was facinating to take it all in. Dusting up the rays of sun @4:20 was the highlight for me.

      Ya that moment was my favorite as well. I only made one flight, and was going slow because I didn't want to run into a cable at speed and end up falling into a bottomless pit somewhere. Really had no idea if anywhere in there was recoverable as they've blocked off more and more entrances over the years.

    Wow, I'm really impressed at being able to fly behind so many obstacles, many of which look like pretty solid steel. It seems like a lot of expensive equipment to abandon.

      Ya, the magic of DJI's Occusync digital video is that they can carry digital signals through reflections, and in an environment like this there are a *a lot* of thinks to bounce the signal off of. I was on the ground about 25 yards west of the main building (sun side) and the video was solid until I flew all the way down to the far end behind those monster tanks, but still usable. Of course upon review I see that's where someone had randomly strung up some rope between the concrete posts, so that was a nearly unseen hazard.

    Scary. Yes. What an homage to ghosts of the past, struggling to stay relevant in the detritus of the abandoned factory. How does it even continue to exist?

    I didnt read the description... Saw the drone stop before hitting that wire and thought "what is this wizardry" haha

      It didn't stop itself (Avata 2 only avoids the ground/floor), but the prop shrouds saved it here, and a couple other times not shown. The only issue is, sometimes when it bumps into stuff if it tilts and tries to level itself, it may climb up into stuff.

    Is this at the abandoned sugar factory on the south end of Longmont?! Amazing piloting, video skills. Fantastic editing. Well done!

    This was incredible! I've never flown a drone, but I imagine it's lots of fun. Do you ever have to worry about losing the connection in a place like this?

    • @daemn42
      @daemn42  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It is a concern yes, but DJI's latest products use a video and RC transmission system that can move data through Rf reflections, so I had clean video and solid control until I was all the way at the far end of the building (I'm flying from outside).. behind a lot of concrete and steel. A bigger concern is that this drone uses a combination of GPS and downward facing cameras for visual positioning. Right near the end you'll see the drone spin around weirdly. It was too dark for it to see downward, and it lost the GPS signal below the concrete/steel floor above. Only stopped moving when it could see the floor again. But generally I just wouldn't attempt this with any other type of drone.
