Hi! I also have Grey Matter E! in my DX7IIFD. Looking for help to load the E! sounds into the memory. Tried many things. Do you have some advice or help for me? Would so much appreciate all your efforts! Thank you in advance!
After installation: VERY IMPORTANT!!! To properly initialize the E!quipped DX7II: First load a ROM Voice Cartridge into E!’s four memory banks (see pages 5 & 6 of the User’s manual.) Be sure to load WITH System. [On a DX7IIFD, you can also load an ERAM disk after you have loaded at least on bank with a cartridge. If there is already SE!quencer data stored in the ERAM, there will be no need to continue with the next paragraph - but don’t skip the final paragraph.] Next, press button 14 until the screen says “Load Program?” Move the cursor over to select SE!quencer and press YES (twice.) Once you are at the SE!quencer main menu, press button 4 to enter the Utilities mode. You want to press button 4 again to enter Global Utilities. Press button 1 to erase all SE!quencer memory and then press YES (this initializes all SE!quencer memory banks; if this is not done, SE!quencer’s RAM will be corrupt!) Press NO repeatedly to Exit and return to the DX7II Edit mode (when the LCD says “Are you sure?”, answer YES.) Finally, select any PERFORMANCE from Internal RAM to clear the Edit buffers. And that’s it And always make the WRITE PROTECTION OFF
@@retrosound72 thank you very much for your valuable time and efforts to support me. Perhaps my question was not clear. I have done all the steps you mentioned. But how do I make a E! disk on my PC. I think I shied away from the DX7 when it came out (besides me being an analog junky) because so many of the factory presets sounded alike and then I'd heard SO MANY new songs w/ the same 2 or 3 DX7 plucked bass sounds. Years later, I picked up a used DX27 and played with it. While I kinda felt it was limited to certain sounds (more so than the DX7 since it was 4-operator instead of 7), I did program one sound I really liked that I called DIGIORGAN and sometimes wish I still had it to play around with again. Thus the need for synth geeks to want to own one of everything! ;-)
I never hated the DX7 and I really love analog sounds. The biggest problem is the most user use only presets. the soundengine is so versatile and powerful. for me is the DX7 one of the big synths ever.

First Digital Synthesiser DX7 I try DX7 in School Music Conservatory. in 1995/96 but i know this digital DX7 since 1986 and DX11 and tx81z and DX1 and Yamaha cx5m ( special ADSR multi-ton the best idea Yamaha but hard to sound custom because use special programme ) etc... DX7 the best but hard to create sound design. :-)
Rad!
What a fucknmen.... Mine came next month, sound best that i have heard! :O
have fun!
@@retrosound72 thanks!! I will!! XDD
That first chord sounds like The intro to Day Of The Dead
Real-time sound manipulation!🎹🎧💫😵👍 now.. If only I could get That mod done to my "volca FM"?😅😎👌
арпеджиатор красивый был тогда уже.
:)))
Wow, an ARPEGIATTOR! lol
Sehr schöne Sounds! Ich hätte meinen DX-7 II nicht verkaufen sollen :-(
zum Glück kan man den noch kaufen.
Was a good looking synth and the Roland Jupiter 8 was too. Synth look horrible today I think.
And the most sounds horrible :D
RetroSound yeah have to agree I don’t think new synths are as good as the old ones. Just think people back then used them to there full Capability but now they just use them like a standard piano.
