      It is a good way with its on classes and mine, inline with The Front Line and JSF. But still 1985, I'm impressed with how quality it was made.

    It is a shame that we do not see more of the Russian films,..they have such talent in telling a story, such great writers...and film directors and cinematography.. what do we have in Hollywood...Horrible Bosses 2, Bridget Jones 3,,.. The Avengers...just..recycled crappy films.. This movie this man created is Art. It left me speechless..

    This film is amazing. A one off. Once you have seen it's almost like you have a form of mild PTSD the images are so powerful. It's one of the few films that really show hatred and violence in a realistic way. Everything else seems like a Disney movie.

    I wish the soundtrack for this film was readily available somewhere. I need to look up who did the synth work for when the aircraft are flying over.
    Edit: The composer of the film's soundtrack was Oleg Yanchenko. Unfortunately, none of the releases by him that are documented on the Discogs database extend beyond Baroque Classical music. Very sad, I would love to hear more of his synth minimal / experimental work.

    Does anybody know where I can watch this movie with English subtitles, or better yet, with English overdub?

    • @5anjuro
      @5anjuro 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Overdubs will kill the movie. Don't do it. There's no way a Hollywood voice actor can convey this level of authenticity.
      Secondly, there is a lot of linguistic context and environment that will be lost - the film is famously prized for the sound design that will be thrown out the window by overdubs. Much of the local folks dialogue is in Belarussian. Born in the Soviet Union, I speak Russian - the two are mutually intelligible but not always, so as kids watching it for the first time, it took us an additional effort to understand what was going on, the brain was working insanely, and I believe it contributed to the immersion.

    @fraskita: I wouldn’t put my trust in that assumption when it comes to the Marxists, as they are usually so cross that none of their erratic action makes sense, so this flick maybe propaganda still, in spite that the Marxist propagandist didn’t allow it to be shown; and furthermore I would not call these so-called historians to be Germans at all and never forget: In Germany today it is still an offence if one doesn’t agree with this kind of propaganda stuff and that should give a hint.
