Just stumbled on this video. I’m old school as well (80s Nupe). The presenters did a fantastic job of providing basic information and a glimpse of the lifelong bond. If you are interested in a particular organization, the rest is on you.

The other BGLOs refer to one another as frat and soror as well. i.e. AKAs and the Alphas. They consider each other sorors and frats to one another. So what does it means to be constitutionally bound? And why aren't the other BGLOs not constitutionally bound?

Zetas and Sigmas are constitutionally bound meaning we were created under the same / similar principles. We share the same colors and symbols. We are really the only sorority and fraternity that can truly call each other frat and Sorors.

there can certainly be others, they simply won't be a part of "the Divine Nine." The Divine Nine refers to the first 9 Black fraternal organizations who are historically important in the role they served to meet the needs of Black college youth prior to the civil rights movement. They had members who helped facilitate the civil rights movement , including Dr. Martin Luther King. They'll always have a unique place in history. The Divine Nine also defined and inspired much of the culture and traditions of multicultural fraternal organizations that developed over the years all across the country. Just know that it is a LOT of work building an new organization from scratch, it may also be worth confirming if there is already an organization that fits the values and aims that you are looking for in a fraternity. There may already exist a smaller Black fraternity that will serve your needs. For example, I recall back when I was in college (2004) several men established a brand new Black fraternity on my school campus in East Texas. Because they're not part of the Divine Nine, on most college campuses you'll find that these other fraterinites will usually function and organize under an umbrella of a Multicultural Greek Council. MGC's are a space for multicultural fraternal organizations (for all people of color) to council and support one another.
