I like the no text back or not being able to answer the calls. Fitbit is about working out. Not about getting interrupt. It’s not a stay connected to ur friends watch it’s about staying connected with ur physical life.

Somebody else should have done this review. This is a great looking watch. I get tons of compliment on mine. Like someone said why would l take someone's advice who sits in the middle of a couch.

You can’t compare a fitness watch to a smart watch- ionic is for fitness strictly, I love mine

    • @Rexian123

that's true I agree with you, and the Apple Watch is a lot more expensive.

    • @BassWhoopinFishingTeam

Exactly... at the end of the day it tracks fitness. Not loaded with apps... its a watch... not a phone

      I agree with this!

    • @coolsquad7428
      @coolsquad7428 5 ปีที่แล้ว

But it is more accurit and better fitness tracking and as well its can stream music and i can store over 500 songs so to me the apple watch series 4 is a little pricey but I would still get the series 3 lte witch I have and it works really great

    • @joemann7971
      @joemann7971 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@coolsquad7428 the ionic is quite accurate. I do notice it lags behind other HR monitors when HR ramps up and down but when HR is consistent, it reads the same as other HR monitors.
I think the difference is that the ionic is meant for 24/7 use. So, to conserve power, it updates slower, which causes for HR to lag behind. It doesn't necessarily mean inaccurate though.
The series 3 doesn't have the same water resistance as the series 4. The ionic easily has the same water resistance as the series 4, but for a lower price.
Also, the ionic lasts 10 hrs streaming audio, with gps on. How long does the apple watch series 4 last? 5 hrs? And you're paying twice as much. Hardly worth it.

Not everyone wants an "elegant" smartwatch. I like the design of it because it looks a bit retrofuturistic; a typical sci-fi watch. That's the reason I'm watching this review. I think it looks more masculine than the apple watch.

My dream Pebble replacement is a watch with an e-ink screen, because I really, REALLY love the Pebble, but having to derp my arm around to catch the right light and read the screen is annoying.
That, and I didn't much care for the animations. I'd prefer battery life and readability over an animated sun when I brought up the timeline.

ok , i got my first ionic as a gift from my wife 18 months ago and loved it ...at first . i got it and was annoyed at how difficult it was to just connect it up to my phone but i eventually got it connected and had no further problems and grew to love it . it was a great accessory to my walks and rides and really did encourage me to push myself . i put my trouble in hooking it up to my phone to me not knowing how to connect it and forgave the fitbit. fast forward 18 months and my ionics screen went black , it was still syncing with my phone and sending all details but i could not see a thing and could not even tell the time . i tried everything to see what the issue was and had no luck and i dont give up easily and had read on the internet about numerous issues with the fitbit . reluctantly i took it to the store of purchase and received a refund .
my wife knowing that my fitbit had died had already bought me another ionic and decided to give me an early xmas present so i tried to sync my ionic to my phone FOR 4 DAYS ,over and over i tried, every single method ,installing and uninstalling you name it , wifi ,bluetooth, re-installing absolutely everything . I GIVE UP . its not often that anything electrical beats me but i paid good money for the fitbit and expected a smooth polished product , what i got was a tempermental beast that was difficult / impossible to set up and only lasted me 18 months . if it were not for the australian govt forcing fitbit to extend their warranty to 2 years i would have lost my money too as fitbit only wanted to offer a 1 year warranty. that being said when it works it works very well and i loved it
today i will be taking my brand new fitbit present back to the shop and buying another smart watch reluctantly , this fitbit was exactly what i wanted but just let me down and now i have no idea what to replace it with . PLEASE FITBIT SORT THESE ISSUES OUT . you have a good product but could make it a great product if you can just make them connect easier and last longer.

You're right. I've compared the Fitbit measurements against other HR monitors, like the ones at the machines at the gym and it's pretty spot on.
I had a charge 3 but returned it and got the ionic when I saw the price of $222.57 on amazon. I went to best buy and just had them price match it. It does everything I need a smartwatch to do. I get that it's a fitness tracker first but it's a pretty decent smartwatch as well.

Why does she assume the straight edges of ionic are a minus/disadvantage? Esthetics as a factor is a personal subjective assessment, because preferences for looks vary from one person to the next (beauty is in the eye of the beholder).
Personally, I absolutely prefer sharp-edged rectangular shapes that look more futuristic than the classic/retro looking rounded objects.
For me the shape/look is what I LOVE ABOUT THE LOOK of the ionic. The Apple smart watch on the other hand looks completely lame by comparison.
I am planning on buying an ionic in the future, and if by any chance the company listens to her personal preference and make it more rounded, I will look elsewhere.

Will all these get tracked ? Please let me know if there is anything in the IONIC which can track all of these without manual intervention. Appreciate your response. Many thanks.

Well, if Fitbit is late to the smartwatch game then man I’m hella late lol. I’m just starting to look into these and I’m more into the fitness tracking etc. So I’ve chosen to get a Fitbit Ionic. From what I’ve heard / read about it’s all pretty positive. It doesn’t look THAT bad and as for the no replying to text messages or phone calls if you’re working out and replying you aren’t really working out lol. Whenever I’m at my gym I leave my cellphone in the locker in the locker room and I’ll check it when I’m done. Especially if I can have music saved to the watch and the GPS tracks my runs then I’ll be leaving my phone at home and strictly using the watch. Hard to compare an Apple Watch to a Fitbit seeing as the primary functions are completely different. This Ionic watch is made more for people who want to workout and get all their stats while apple watches are more of an extension of the smartphone. Not to mention the Apple Watch is 2x the price lol. Good review though. Appreciated the insight

I'm a fitbit user. I don't like that fact that NONE of the fitbits last for more than a year (looking at mine now...unable to use it). Something always goes wrong...and the connection to charge the watch itself...breaks. For $299...it seems weird to me to have smart watch WITHOUT options considered "common" in that price range AND pay more than the "common" price. Instead, the logic is to "buy-in" to limitations. Then the looks...and then the customer service which will send you a refurbished device at the drop of a hat cause problems happen just THAT often. I am a fitbit user. I keep buying up the line...but they are making some baaaad decisions on the back end and i'm considering jumping ship for something more durable for the LONG haul.

Review appreciated, I think its an outstanding smartwatch. About the short coming, people should just use your phone for the calendar etc. There will always be some features that have to be left out of smartwatches. We cannot expect our phones to do everything. After all I like that you started the obvious at the end of the review, "Fit" is its whole purpose and forte.

I love Fitbit products but i hate their screens being too small all the time, Everytime a new Fitbit watch comes out i hope for the screen to be big but sadly screen size keeps small, hopefully they put a bigger screen on next watch

"Personally, I didn't really love the design. And this is one of the areas where this really differs from the Apple Watch. I think Apple has done a pretty nice job of designing a somewhat elegant looking smart watch and this doesn't feel that way." Clearly biased review and I don't see anything "elegant" about the Apple watch except for its price.

I hate Apple, but their watch does look more elegant... Meaning, it looks more in style. The Fitbit Ionic looks like a throwback to 80s scifi movies.

I disagree on design! Actually is the best design so far I've seen, the rounded LCD screens are so stupid, just imagine watching your TV on rounded screen! extremely comfortable very light. It's been with me for 4 days and I love it.

Ionic vs Vivoactive 3 Please! This is what I've learned so far, correct me if I'm wrong but VA3 can connect to ANT+ hr monitors and footpods, etc. and Ionic can not. VA3 gives cadence and recovery times and Ionic does not. VA3 has training programs designed for 5k, 10k etc and Ionic does not (without paying for each) I've got the Surge, had since it was first released, been glitchy whole time and their tech support was useless and after my screen cracked, they just offered a 20% discount on a new one. So I'm prob going VA3 myself though want to wait for a few more real world reviews and also like the extra analytics offered through Garmin that Fitbit doesn't have. Also some early reviews like DCRainmaker and few others showed Garmin to be more accurate HR and GPS (might just be a 'tester unit' that all the reviewes get thing). The Vivoactive 3 also supports standard 20mm quick-release bands so they can be replaced with bands of different colors and materials. Ionic has very few 3rd party bands making custimization tougher. DC Rainmaker just updated the product comparison chart - put VA3 beside Ionic and you'll see the only thing Ionic has the VA3 doesn't is onboard music and VA3 has 24 features Ionic does not! Back you on board music - do people not have an iPod or mp3 player anymore? Who wants to fork out more money on Bluetooth headphones? Personally I think hard core athletes will favor the extra stats and info of garmin as fitbit just hasnt caught up to them.

This is not the most expensive fitbit ever and this is not the successor of the Versa.
This is the replacement for the Fitbit SURGE; also having notifications; gps; hearth-rate, 12sensors, 7+days battery life. It's no longer for sale.

  • @Asti89

Notifications on the watch :D :D Never understood this thing.... if u get so many messages than it is inevitable to use ur phone soon - according to the seriousness of the topic. On the other hand if u got just a few things a day it is not so important or u can respond to another time, which means u can check it later on ur phone. The only good thing in this opportunity are the emergency messages and let's be honest.... real emergency messages happens not so often. So if it was a negative fact with this watch, u should not leave ur room where u got 3 or 4 monitors and u can check those really important infos that u get every 15 minutes.

I just got the garmin vivoactive 3 and it seems better than this thing in literally every aspect, especially when it comes to the sport aspects. It's also definitely a more smooth experience with even better battery life! I used to have a Pebble and it's sad to see what it got turned into now.. :(

I've been waiting several months for a replacement for my surge (I was one of the people with the band peeling issue, clearly a design flaw). The have been out of stock of the Lg black for 6 months now....funny because they are plenty on store shelves. Does anyone know if there is a class-action lawsuit underway in Canada, against Samsung for not honoring its replacement warranties yet?

All of these reviews comparing the FitBit to the Apple Watch continue to leave out the fact that that the GPS in the FitBit is it’s own GPS and you do not need to carry your cell phone with you because it has its own GPS whereas the Apple Watch does not and need your cell phone GPS to track and report and the apps work in conjunction with the tracking.
