    Hello I'm a D1 dental student right now and I was curious if you had any advice for job opportunities for dental students when they graduate? Currently I want to work for someone else for a few years then purchase my own practice.

    Great video! I am currently shadowing an orthodontist and think it is super interesting! I recently read that the 2019 average for private practice orthodontists is around 400k. Do you think this is an accurate average for a private practice orthodontist or do you think there are too many factors to say? Thanks!

      Sounds about right but yes tons of variables to consider

    Hey Dr. Coughlin, did you have to give up on getting gp referrals when you decided to open a combo gp/ortho practice?

    • @ThriveDentist
      @ThriveDentist  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Waseem. I've actually never practiced in an office that relied on GP referrals so I don't know what that's like!

      Nathan Coughlin awesome! Thanks for sharing, you’re an inspiration to an aspiring ortho (starting d school in less than 2 weeks(!), kinda nervous haha)

      @@ThriveDentist question, do you find it more worth it to do dental and ortho in same building rather then just a ortho office. Seems like a lot of extra work. Your input would be nice to hear. Great video!

    Do you have to be board certified in your specialty in order to practice and own a practice?

    Hi, I am considering going into to the field of orthodontics as I am a senior in high school. However I am slightly concerned due to the costs and length of dental school and residency. I was wondering if you would consider the time and loans spent in college worth it on the other side? I just do not want to be repaying debt my entire life.

      Hey Ethan. Absolutely worth every penny and every second. Love Orthodontics and everything that comes with it.

    What are some benefits of opening several dental offices?

    • @ThriveDentist
      @ThriveDentist  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well you get more stress so that's something😉 But in all seriousness as an Orthodontist you likely cannot be at just one office because there are not enough patients and plus I love opening offices so I do it mainly for the love of opening and working with such a diverse group of people.

    One question, for all the planning that you do during the lease negotiation, like making sure you have the funding, have the builders in place ready to go, etc. Do you organize all that yourself or do you go to someone who has experience with that the same way you would go to a dental broker to find the perfect spot?

    • @ThriveDentist
      @ThriveDentist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely use professionals like a lawyer to review the lease especially for your first office.

    Sir is your net worth greater than $5 million as an orthodontist? Nice video.

    Is being an orthodontist hard? It seems so easy but pays very well. Why is that? Is it cause of the schooling😂

    • @ThriveDentist
      @ThriveDentist  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup it's pretty easy but going through school was a pain!
