    Your WT CJ4 and the CRJ videos are now my "go to" tutorials. Wouldn't be upset if you decided to do the same for
    the flybywire A320 if you had some spare time in the future - LOL.

      Amen to that.

    • @Aleksandar6ix
      @Aleksandar6ix 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      A320 content too saturated with real world pilots already.... That's why CRJ and CJ4 is good because these stand out so well for products that really need them.

    • @lakids1439
      @lakids1439 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@Aleksandar6ix True, many A320 sources available. However, the format followed by the CRJ and CJ4 tutorials uses a single video to cover the most cogent aspects of the two planes. This same format applied to the A320 would be very beneficial to me and hopefully other sim pilots. Additional in-depth aspects of the A320 can always be searched as needed by accessing the wealth of information you referenced.

    I’ve simmed on Xbox for a while but now but this is one of the planes I wanted the most. Moved to pc a couple weeks ago and this plane was the first plane I bought. Just now learned how to fly it and I’m having such a blast with it. The biggest reason I wanted this plane was so I could do operations out of my home town of south bend as crj’s is mainly what we get. This tutorial was so amazing

    Excellent video. Again the detail is good. Especially the FMS setup. Important for us simmers to get an understanding of the flight plan. It’s not just a list of letters and numbers that we take for granted and let MS FS 2020 deal with it. It’s good to be able to understand everything about the route and interpret the small details. After all MS FS is meant to be a Simulator !. And the CRJ from Aerosoft is an excellent addition to this Simulator. Many thanks. I have now subscribed to your channel.

The 200 had one FMS on the captain's side and the plane was completely manual compared to the 700-900. The -200 was also under powered at altitude compared to the -700-900. I'm happy the throttle doesn't misbehave anymore, this was a very annoying bug. I ended up moving the throttles up and down by a miniscule amount constantly, that seemed to alleviate the mismatch. It's much more comfortable to fly now.

    Fellow CRJ FO here, based in the southeast, just not the ATL based one :-) IAS does switch to Mach automatically going through FL316 at the same time as 1/2 bank. Typically above 10,000ft we climb in VS mode (or even PITCH mode) to avoid the porpoising that we get in CLB mode. Just a technique to consider as even this sim seemed to porpoise a bit. This can be felt in the real airplane and is better for passenger comfort. The performance issues in cruise may be used to exceeding the maximum cruising altitude for the given weight you were at. In the real airplane we would use ACARS or our speed cards. Not sure about this sim… This was fun to watch! Keep it up!

    • @FilbertFlies
      @FilbertFlies  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting, thanks for the info! I've just used lower cruising levels lately, but there are some charts included in the manual which I'll take a look at and see if that was the issue.

    • @FoxVictorBravo
      @FoxVictorBravo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FilbertFlies One more thought ;-) in real life in the US, the minimum vertical speed that we must be able to maintain for ATC purposes is 500 ft/min. So while during a climb, if we were unable to maintain at least a 500 ft/min climb rate, we would have to advise ATC and request to level off and amend our cruising altitude. During this flight, seems like stopping at 330 or 350 would have been pretty realistic. In real life, going past 360 is quite rare in both the 700 and 900.

    • @FilbertFlies
      @FilbertFlies  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FoxVictorBravo I didn't know that either! This is what I love about flight simming, and about doing it online on TH-cam and Twitch - always more to learn, always someone willing to share their knowledge. Thanks! 🙂

    I know this is an older video, but I'll throw my two cents in. Simbrief is awesome, I use it every flight. Having said that, don't let Simbrief pick your cruise altitude. A quick work around, is to go to flightaware, find a corresponding flight that was flown as close to your flight time as possible and steal that cruise altitude.

    • @FilbertFlies
      @FilbertFlies  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You're right. I trust SimBrief a lot less than I used to and do exactly this.

    • @srmj71
      @srmj71 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FilbertFlies Yeah, I suspect I have a lot more to learn about weather, to really start intelligently choosing a cruise altitude. Us simmers probably have access to the information needed, just not the software to wrap it up into a usable method. Awesome series of videos btw ;-)

    Huge video. Thank you very much, both of you. I was just wondering and didn't quite get it, where the checklist is, that Michael is going through. It seems a lot deeper than the ones on the efb?

      @FilbertFlies  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's in Volume 4 of the manuals you get with the CRJ. The safety checklist is in there but is missing from the EFB. I believe the others are identical.

    Great video. I am a retired (in 2014) CRJ captain. I would like to have seen info on Flex thrust for reduced power takeoffs. And also the fuel check valve test on the first flight checks. If I remember the ILS profile I used we selected gear down when the glide slope came alive and flaps 45 at glide slope intercept

      Hello! Thanks, glad you liked it. There is unfortunately no way of calculating an accurate flex temp in this plane, or anywhere else I've found on the web, which is why I always tend to use TOGA rather than randomly guessing a figure. However, if you have any tables, links or other resources that I could use for this I'd be very pleased to see them!

      @@FilbertFlies That's true since you need takeoff distance charts for the aircraft. What I do is just add 5 degrees Celsius to the current temperature if it is not a short runway or any of the conditions that require max power. I really liked the video as it reminded me of what it was like flying the actual CRJ. You guys did a great job with it.

      @@FlatOutMatt We rotated at Vr and accelerated through V2 and V2+10. Flaps were retracted after reaching two speeds. I'll have to do some research since it has been a few years since I flew it. But at the first speed we retracted to flaps one and at the second speed flaps up and called for the climb check. At my airline the F/O did the entire climb check silently and verbalized "Climb check complete" when he finished it.

      @Raptor05121 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FlatOutMatt if it helps- at 1000 AGL, spin the speed bug up to 200kts, as you or the autopilot lowers the nose to match the FD and speed up, you would retract from flaps 20 to flaps 8 at V2 + 12. At Vt - 10, retract from flaps 8 to flaps up. Reduce thrust to climb detent, disengage reversers. At 3,000AGL, speed bug 250kts
      Flaps 8 is by far the most common. Flaps 20 is used on shorter runways, etc.

    The throttle instability is a known issue with a patch incoming. Makes it hard to control cruise and descent speed because response is not what we expect. I've had this issue always. X55 throttle.

    would have been nice to learn how to check fuel burn mid flight to make sure we are on track for where we should be. also how do we know the airport we are landing at has a long enough runway for our current weight and the runway conditions? arent we supposed to calculate that out during decent?

    • @FilbertFlies
      @FilbertFlies  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should probably check your arrival runway's long enough before setting off to be honest. And there's not much to say on fuel burn - compare what you have in the plane with what the flightplan says you should have at each waypoint, same as you would in any other aircraft.

      I think I'd put it at 90%. Other than failures and a very few FMS features, I can't think of much that's missing. And I'm hopeful that, with the next patch, it'll be even closer to the real thing.
