Idk how I have dodged the Circe hype for so long, but I really need to read it already! And I had never heard of that Mermaid book but consider me intrigued. Also, HECK YES for Starless Sea and Anna Smith Spark.
I also think Sarah Chorn writes some great literary fantasy, especially The Necessity of Rain!
I love Circe because it got me into feminist villain mythology retellings which is one of my favourite niches!! The Mermaid & Mrs Hancock is an odd one because it’s only barely fantasy so I never know where or who to recommend it to!
I love Erin Morgenstern and Anna Smith Spark so damn much!!!
I need to read Sarah Chorn, I’ve only read an anthology she edited and did the preface for, not much exposure to her actual writing 😂
@@bookschocaholic I need to get more into that niche as well!
And ugh yes I am dying for my next Morgenstern pls come soon hahah
The Necessity of Rain is a good standalone to try out her style, but A Sorrow Named Joy is also great because it's a novella!
@@esmayrosalyne I keep getting recommended mythology retellings but I’m in it for the bad girlies Ngl!
I understand why Morgenstern takes so long between books, but it’s also cruel 😂
I’ll see what I can grab on Kindle of Sarah’s 👀
Your use of prosaic(al) is throwing me off, since when I look it up, I get this: "having the style or diction of prose; lacking poetic beauty." Is that a mismatch? I have Starless Sea to read on my shelf!
