This news hit me differently because it reopened old wounds. My friend David Halperin was the same age as Grayson when he committed suicide. Like Grayson, from the outside, it seemed like he had everything going for him. David was attractive, made good money, highly educated (UCLA undergrad, MBA from Duke), many friends....and a bright future seemingly ahead of him. My wife and I were with him the night before he took his own life and had no clue that he was struggling and would do such a thing. Only later did we find out he had tried 2x before and struggled with depression his entire life. Afterwards, I realized all the clues I missed and definitely felt some guilt. Like many others who struggle with mental health, apparently David saw things in a different light...focusing on the negative aspects of his life instead of all the positives (e.g. while he made good money, he had trouble getting the position at the type of firm he wanted). I feel for Grayson's family and friends but hope they take solace in Grayson no longer being in pain and at peace.

Whew! That's something. I appreciate this piece. Sorry about your experience and what you endured. I never knew of Grayson, till I saw the news on Saturday. It hurts awfully. He was tormented and harassed on the court so he withdrew not knowing that was it. .

Well, when you are a American golf stud-mufffin, you CANNOT have any mental health issues and your certainly cannot get a therapist and work out your problems. Just think of what people will say if they find out you are not a stone faced, hyper competitive robot cash/trophy machine who keeps it all bottled up inside!! The PGA Tour and the golf establishment are doing what idiots do after a mass murder by a insane person with a assault rifle....' Oh well, they were wonderful people....thoughts and prayers and rest in peace! '. As NOTHING is done to actually solve the problem. Mental health is a serious issue in our country, no doubt about it. For example, just look at all the people Trump has brainwashed with his lies and hatred! RIP Murray, we all wish you got the help you needed.

Do you not understand how serious mental health is, literally a battle with your brain every single day trying to keep yourself alive and you're not helping by saying that oh this person this famous person who took their own life oh he was being selfish. Rest in peace Bryson and my condolences go out to his colleagues, friends and family.
If you ain't going to be nice and send condolences to someone who just lost their son daughter, friend or child to mental illness then don't speak at all and I mean to literally almost everyone who keeps saying that su3c3de is selfish because I'm literally effing done with it.

Well said. People who suffer from depression are in pain and suffering and mental torture that others can’t even comprehend. It’s not a selfish decision to end one’s life when they’re suffering this much, but it’s selfish to expect another person to continue to live in pain and suffering for others
