I seen my first Saleen when I was 14 years old and fell in love with it. I finally found one when I was 35 in 2005, a used 2002 SC281 convertible done in mineral metallic grey #48 and pounced on buying it. Little did I know that this car was featured in a 2004 edition of 5litre mustang magazine that when I called Saleen inc, they sent me a package with a copy of the magazine, a registration slip and the California licence plate. When I received the package and called Saleen inc, I was informed that this car was Steve’s daily driver. So cool to own a part of Steve’s heritage and to this day, I still own this beautiful car. Thanks Steve for your creativity. I will own this car until I pass it down to my son……
I remember drooling over the Saleen Mustangs in my late teens and early twenties! They were always out of my price range, but that never stopped me from wanting one. If I had to choose, I'd go for the S302 Black Label as my first choice with one from the late Eighties as a close second.
Joe. I love that car. I’ve once owned 2 mustangs, a 1991 and a 1993 convertibles. In 1964 I was 6 years of age. The 1964 1/2 mustang made me a muscle car nut for life and I like the chrome wheels.
Timeless! I’ll never forget driving my 99 mustang GT to Saleen in Orange County and seeing their factory. Super cool. This ole hits home. I was in my late teens now old man status 😂
It's a beautiful car I have myself a 2001 Saleen s281 # 01-892 convertible silver I'm the third owner it barely hit 100,000 miles on it today 3/29/2023 and I love it 🤍🐎🏆🏁
As an previous owner of one of those 2001 Saleen SCs, I have to agree with you for the most part. The Recaro seats were optional as where chrome wheels and you could get wider rear wheels with 295s on it. One of the best looking Saleens ever made. I had Saleen change out my rear wing and hood for the later Extreme cars. Those are the ones to get. I also owned a fox Saleen. Loved that car but it was stolen. Saleen put a lot of work into those cars, especiaaly the 89 SSC. Saleen was the first to CARB cert a modified engine in the SSC. I still own 2 Saleens, love the cars. Used them as my dailies until just recently. The price of gas has made that difficult. Who knows, may buy another one. Love the new Black Label. Great content as usual.
Always like the new edge mustangs, wish they kept 5.0 for them. Still blows my mind to this day that my dad called my buddies car (95’ GT with the 5.0) when he did a burn out in my parents driveway. I remember him running out of the bedroom shouting “damn push rod 5.0!” Great times. Lol
I have a 2001 Newedge Raiti that have the same wheels as this one only mine are staggered black chrome and look bad a$$! It's not a Saleen but man these wheels look good! Mines silver with a black c-stripe decal package lowered 1.5 on some good H&R springs and these five spoke Saleens really make it look good so i'm all in on these wheels and the car. Getting a new Stang in 2024 but keeping my Newedge. Not getting rid of it. Hava good one bro and thanks for the revue!
I own a 2000 speedster, thanks for this video, the wheels are 18" not 19, otherwise great job. These and the 96-98 saleens are my personal favorites. Always a great job!
Gotta love the new edge saleens. My dream new edge would have to be a Saleen Cobra/Terminator they’re super rare. I didn’t even know they existed up until a couple years ago when a local bought one. I didn’t believe it till I did my research, sweet cars😎
I went and watched Fast and Furious just to see this car all for about 30secs before it was demolished l😂 Saw one at a car show in 03' like this & had white wheels. That same year I had the 99' v6 35th anniversary edition. Owned it 8 years then a 00 GT for 4 years.

They had a factory defect in the intercooler design that was never addressed. It was left up to members of the community to fix it, and luckily, they did. A guy created a heat shield to redirect all of the air through the intercooler and prevent it from escaping through gaps in the lower manifold. It brough the car back to its advertised power for more than one pull. Generally, one pull would send the IATs into the upper 100s, sometimes 200s, with the heatshield, it kept it in the 110-130 range on even the hottest days. Another guy also designed a grip plate that added an extra pulley after the blower pulley to reduce belt slip which the 99-00 cars suffered from the most with the Windsor timing cover design. 01-04 cars with the Romeo timing cover faired better, but the grip plate is known to actually net the 8psi it was supposed to make versus the 5-6psi is actually made stock.
