Thank you for this informative video. My UPS cable has been connected to my Home Assistant server for some time now. I couldn’t get the integration to work and decided it wasn’t worth it. I’m guessing now it was your tip on the host name that did the trick. All is good now. Great channel.
Yeah, that hostname thing had me scratching my head for a good couple hours before I finally dug up the answer. Figured I wasn't the only one struggling, so why not make that my next video? Lol glad it helped you out, and thanks for watching!!
A vote of thanks from me too. I have finally got my UPS hooked up to HA. I've tried numerous times with docker containers and failed miserably. I hadn't seen the HA addon (until now)! 😂
Thanks for the video...I have enjoyed a number of your videos...I do have a question...I have followed your instructions, but I am still unable to connect...is their a setting on my UPS that I need to change? On the web interface? It is a CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD PFC...thanks in advance for any help...Cheers...
Shouldn't be. I didn't have to do anything with mine. That model does appear to be listed on the supported list on the NUT website, and shows that it just uses the generic USB UPS driver. As long as you can see it under Settings -> System -> Hardware -> All Hardware, then Home Assistant knows it's there. Thanks for watching! :)
@@fasthowto Thanks Jeff...Sorry for the delay...I got it to work tonight...I did not mention that I run HA as a VM on Proxmox...rather than adding the USB port to the VM (like I did the Zigbee dongle), I actually have to "map" a USB drive on the 'host' (datacenter) in Proxmox (I called it "UPS")... then went to the VM to add a USB device and pointed it to the mapping drive (UPS) ...then when configuring the NUT addon in HA, the host name now is the mapped drive (UPS)...anyways...Cheers my friend...Slàinte Mhath...
@@fasthowto not really. I was drinking and playing Rocket League 😂. I'll go back and watch but from what I remember, you said it doesn't work on Windows. I'll watch again 😮💨🤣

Yes, thank you for the info. Good tips, good shirt, and good excuse for me to enjoy a glass of 6 year old Templeton Rye, which is always welcome!
Templeton is good stuff! I especially enjoy their barrel strength offerings. Thanks for watching!!
Any solution for windows??
