It was windy on Baden Powell, the the day before Acton seemed windier lower down. Non PCT miles up to thr Summit but as everyone seems to do it you would think they would add Baden Powell on to the total. Epic views up there. You are certainly ramping up the miles. I hope you enjoyed your NERO. Thanks for the upload Sam.

I was 30 days behind you and when I got there McDougals was open but there were no wall on the building, just framing and you had to use a mobile app to order.

What you saw was the Wally Waldron tree. Looks very similar to the bristlecone pine snd grows in similar conditions to them. It’s a Limber Pine. It’s estimated to be about 1500 years old. It’s a pretty amazing tree. The only bristle cones are in CAs White mountains that is a parallel range east of the sierras. It is the home of the oldest living thing in the world. A tree that is over 4000 yrs old. Congrats on your one month trailiversary. 😂 Congrats on making it to another famous McDonald’s town n the PCT. The one in a more popular location than cajon. Better camping options in acton too. That KOA is very nice. And better food options than McDonald’s. Lol. Thanks for posting.

Breakfast at McDonalds', good start to the day and then just over 11lbs each of water going up 1000 feet in elevation at the start of the day just to find a water cache at the top of the climb, owe well, it is what it is, onward... awesome views along the trail with the show off lizard challenging you to a push-up contest... nice campsite and then 12 miles into Wrightwood... Nero in Wrightwood, shower, town food and back to the trail and a camp site just short of the climb up to the summit of Mt. Baden Powell. and then back to the trail... Road walk to by pass endangered frog area and completed 406 miles in 31 days... 26 mile day with 12 more to the KOA at Acton, home of the Hiker Trash for a day or two during the long hike... SAFE HIKING

I believe that tree is the "Wally Waldron Tree", a limber pine. The oldest in the San Gabriels, but not, unfortunately, a bristlecone.

Love the daily maps BTW, I like it split this way. 'Heading Somewhere' did the full miles last year not day by day. I do prefer your take on it, Kudos.

So by now you are doing the Mojave snd probably the LA aqueduct. To me that is the most brutal. Hopefully you have better weather for. So Cal has been having a crazy heatwave

You carry water because you can't always count on caches.
