Like the announcers said, this entire set simply came down to tier list matchups. Sadly Inkling is just a better character and since both of these players are extraordinarily good at the game that's just what it came down to. IMO if Falcon had a few minor changes, Fatality would be an extreme force to be messed with, top 5 player material. This has been shown in Sm4sh when he 3-0'd ZeRo, formerly the best Sm4sh player in the world. #FixFalcon

Fatality just put out a video confirming what you just said. He said he figured out the strategy but only during game 3 and that he had chosen the wrong stage to play the way he wanted.
I can’t even say cosmo was on point. Characters just dumb.. spam jab and repeat sequence. Note how they talked fatality up the whole game because his gameplay was superior.
I wasn't even a dedicated Captain Falcon main(I don't main him though) in Smash 4 or in Ultimate, yet it's saddening to see Fatality lose over and over again...there's a good amount of unfinished characters who didn't get enough time during development...

Up air to knee pretty much doesn't work anymore. His dair setups don't work. His only high damage combos require taking you from one side of the stage to the another which doesn't really work in a game where when you are winning you have the middle of the stage. He lost everything important to the character. Worst Falcon since Brawl, maybe even as bad as Brawl.

Falcon sucks so badly now. Look at how impossible it was for Fatality to close stocks when they've killed all of Falcons good setups and confirms. Unless you can get an edgegaurd you can't kill on Falcon anymore. Fatality was doing so well, he had way better option coverage and neutral, his punish was at the characters limit. Falcon is just so bad that even the Falcon master can't carry him this time. It's like brawl levels of bad.

The only thing new he's been working on since this match are the couple buffs Falcon got and making his tech chasing out of f-tilt better now that it's more useable, again because of buffs. Falcon sucks. Fatality is a genius and is optimizing aspects of the game no one else is yet. The fact he has to 20GX level nonsense to only be able to do as good as he is shows how bad Falcon really is in this game. In smash 4 he used to go to town an Cosmos and other players he loses to now because of Falcons flaws. Even after the buffs Falcon still isn't really good. He's super limited compared to every other game except brawl.
fatality is insane. when he recovered with up b he strafed to the other direction slightly just to avoid the 2 frame. wow. did not think of doing that when playing captain f at all

eM97 Fatality just wasn’t playing the mu right actually, he didn’t catch landings with side b which is vital in that match up. This match up is very doable I just don’t know why Fatality didn’t play it right 🤷♀️
He's working on a secondary, Chrom. Literally just picked him up about a week and a half ago. He's not practiced enough to use him at this level though. He was originally using Link as a secondary, but found that his playstyle wasn't suited to Link. Also attempted Joker for a bit, but Joker was too much effort to get good at, and considering how much time you have to invest in Falcon to get to high level play, it wasn't worth it when other options like Chrom are so much simpler for the same reward.
It took fatality really long to reach the top with falcon in smash 4 everyone thought falcon was trash in that game too until he got good. Like fatality says it’ll take awhile before he can optimize everything with falcon
I hope you’re right, but it doesn’t seem like this game has enough depth to really bring falcon up a couple notches with just more time on the game :( That’s my two cents

Props to Fatality for carrying the worst Falcon since brawl up as far as he has, but he needs to swap. Falcon is not good enough for his level in this game. You can see Falcons lack of setups and confirms preventing him from getting kills he deserves. His slowness limits how Fatality can punish, and his weakened combo game just isn't good enough to fight top tiers despite Fatality pushing him more than almost if not anyone has pushed their main. Meanwhile Cosmos messed up a bunch. He could have killed Fatality multiple times even the first game with edgegaurds and didn't. He got caught twice by Fatality to lose 2 stocks when he should have known Falcons only kill options were going to be what he was looking for. Cosmos could have destroyed him way harder. Fatality was completely held back here when if he was playing a character who is basically un edgegaurdable and had a grab kill confirm he likely would have won.
cosmos picked up the character when the game just came out, and tier picking is a petty thing to bitch about. you wanna win in a game? pick a good character. its a no brainer.

From what I've gathered, inkling has great aerials to punish offstage with and if Fatality kept going high, he was bound to be combo-food and done in no time. It would appear this was a choice of "the lesser of two evils" scenario and with Falcon Dive being so linear, there's only so much you can do with it, which explains the extra hoops Fatality had to jump through to even have a chance of recovering.

1:14 that actually really annoyed me, I don’t think he realizes that the window shifts and gets smaller per rage and changes per stage. It’s actually incredibly hard to recognize when to up throw up air.
I don't think Capt is the problem here. Fatality was being a tad too reckless in all of these games. He should calm down on the 2frame ledge punish too
This MU and the rats are what push Falcon into low tier for me. Having a few bad MUs is normal, even for high tiers, but getting hard countered by multiple top tiers surely disqualifies a character from being tournament viable. I don't understand where Fatality's optimism comes from.
It's just the feel with the character. I've been playing falcon since melee. I love how he feels. I'm very comfortable with him. All fatality needs to do is use up smash more. And maybe falcon kick at close range. He doesn't utilize Falcons entire move set. But I agree, falcon is shitty. But in order to win with him, you must diversify the move set with all his moves. Or I may be wrong lol

I think the problem with this MU is that Inkling has practically nothing Falcon can reliably punish, Inkling is just such a water tight character that excels in so many aspects with no real flaw. Their damage output is nuts with ink, they can zone with bombs, their jab is safe on shield, have one of the best and hardest to punish recoveries in the game, their dash hurtbox is comically small and hard to hit, have a great combo game and reliable kill confirms. All that means that honest characters like Falcon have to massively outplay them to win, and with Cosmos being the best Inkling in the world right now that was just never going to happen.
That’s really all he can hope for. Inkling’s recovery is just has insane reach and speed that if he misses the timing and tries to intercept he’ll just end up killing himself. Which means all inkling has to do is float right under the ledge and shoot up. Pretty bs but that’s Inkling

People say he has a Chrom, but who knows if its actually at a level to take down top players. Ultimately, Fatalaty's a character specialist. He lovs Falcon and wants Falcon to work. Its easy to say Falcon is not working and should be dropped, but I worry that players like Fatality, Elegant, and Hungrybox would sooner stop playing Ultimate entirely than start from scratch learning a character who they have no love for but is simply better than their preferred character. And that lack of love will more likely mean even if they forced themselves to play someone new, that character may not reach the level of their prior main at least in match-ups that aren't lopsided.

Smash ultimate logic: Ink shot from a squirt gun from a 5yr old does more damage than a grown, ripped man who hits at supersonic speed
The fact only jabs and edgeguard gave Cosmos the set talks about why some character still need buffs.

Yoshi’s was a terrible stage choice, the slants give Inkling a great use with the way Cosmos edge guards and ledge traps.

I absolutely love Fatality, and i love seeing Falco win. But i gotta give it to Cosmos, he played really well also

1:14 that actually really annoyed me, I don’t think he realizes that the window shifts and gets smaller per rage and changes per stage. It’s actually incredibly hard to recognize when to up throw up air.

I don't think Capt is the problem here. Fatality was being a tad too reckless in all of these games. He should calm down on the 2frame ledge punish too
Though I agree with the 2 frame thing (it always looks braindead), it is a problem that inkling wins purely from jab then back air offstage
This MU and the rats are what push Falcon into low tier for me. Having a few bad MUs is normal, even for high tiers, but getting hard countered by multiple top tiers surely disqualifies a character from being tournament viable. I don't understand where Fatality's optimism comes from.
It's just the feel with the character. I've been playing falcon since melee. I love how he feels. I'm very comfortable with him. All fatality needs to do is use up smash more. And maybe falcon kick at close range. He doesn't utilize Falcons entire move set. But I agree, falcon is shitty. But in order to win with him, you must diversify the move set with all his moves. Or I may be wrong lol

@@pizzashark7067 when someone is hopping at you with a forward tilt, it fuks em up. Its quick as well. He doesnt play stealthy at all. But falcon is hard to master. Always has been

I think the problem with this MU is that Inkling has practically nothing Falcon can reliably punish, Inkling is just such a water tight character that excels in so many aspects with no real flaw. Their damage output is nuts with ink, they can zone with bombs, their jab is safe on shield, have one of the best and hardest to punish recoveries in the game, their dash hurtbox is comically small and hard to hit, have a great combo game and reliable kill confirms. All that means that honest characters like Falcon have to massively outplay them to win, and with Cosmos being the best Inkling in the world right now that was just never going to happen.

That’s really all he can hope for. Inkling’s recovery is just has insane reach and speed that if he misses the timing and tries to intercept he’ll just end up killing himself. Which means all inkling has to do is float right under the ledge and shoot up. Pretty bs but that’s Inkling
gigaimpactor981 na he just doesn’t know the matchup. He does that against every character he’s not really sure about. Don’t blame him though, can’t take risks if your character can’t recover

I really hate inkling super fast and agile broken ass air attacks and good recovery super annoying always have playing inkling online and friendlies.
I love cosmos but i felt hella bad for fatality. Everytime he loses i kept staring at him feeling bad for him ;/
I think fatality should have played more on stage than off. But that’s just me. He’s clearly the better player. Cosmos is coming to a regional tourney in my area. RIP. lol

People say he has a Chrom, but who knows if its actually at a level to take down top players. Ultimately, Fatalaty's a character specialist. He lovs Falcon and wants Falcon to work. Its easy to say Falcon is not working and should be dropped, but I worry that players like Fatality, Elegant, and Hungrybox would sooner stop playing Ultimate entirely than start from scratch learning a character who they have no love for but is simply better than their preferred character.
And that lack of love will more likely mean even if they forced themselves to play someone new, that character may not reach the level of their prior main at least in match-ups that aren't lopsided.

Jorge Moreno Landing nair 1 in a match is actually the hard part. especially on inklings super low hitbox when dash dancing. And players know when they’re at nair1-knee percents.. so they’ll watch for fatality fishing for it
