- Welcome back! We're Katie and Cody, a.k.a. Highboy LA! In this video, we’re recapping our best friend's 100 sq ft basement bedroom makeover that we completed last year. What started as a very dark, bland, ugly wallpapered space turned into a cozy, moody, and creative oasis for him to escape and work on music. We lime washed the walls, sourced all of the furniture secondhand, and really transformed the space into something we're super proud of. We hope this can serve as inspiration for those living in a similar type of room, needs basement decorating ideas, or any small space that’s in need of some love! Hope you enjoy :)

I love it, but I would have liked the walls lighter since it's in the basement. I lived in a basement apartment and the living room and kitchen were a light yellow, and the bedroom sage. It was pretty.

I love everything, except maybe the limewash. In a basement it's kinda giving water damage. Especially at this one spot around the light switch. Can't unsee it 😬

Just curious why you didn’t choose a dresser? Where does he put socks, underwear, pjs, shorts and all that kind of that stuff most people don’t hang?
There's a closet
@@Laneythekid yeah in one of my previous places I had a really big closet so I had a dresser in there but most closets aren’t big enough to hold dressers. I just haven’t seen very many people who keep all of their clothing in a closet.
His closet is actually very big and has built-ins for that stuff. Plus there’s literally no room for a dresser, and he’s need a desk for work
Love the ambient light over the bed and the moody vibe. The desk seems too close to the bed tho. No separation and the art on the floor seems awkwardly place as the only thing on that side of the room and in the pathway from the entrance to the bed and bathroom. Otherwise nice vibe
Thanks! He doesn’t have much space to work with so it’s challenging. There’s really nothing you can do under the tv furniture wise, so we went with an accent stool and leaned some art for style!
You mentioned the bathroom door early in video but didn’t say any more about it did u address it at all
You’re right, I forgot to address it. We ended up using linen-esque curtains that had a light filtering effect. We made sure they were the length of the door and hung them with simple black rods!
