Thank you for this video! Thanks to Iron Senergy for allowing this and for treating its employees so well! If you do replant under the bridge, use something hardier than vetch: "weeds" that truly grow wild - in your area.
Appreciate your saying that Robin. You are right, we are lucky to work for Iron Senergy. I highly doubt they will ever re seed under the bridges tho, they've been sprayed so many times with weed killer I'm not sure much good vegetation would even get started? Thanks so much for watching my friend.
Freddie gets all the credit for doing all the editing Alan, now he wants to put in each video a title that gives him all the credit.... :-) Thanks so much for watching my friend.
Lovely Autumn colours there. Nice job for you there, makes a change from the usual views we get along the track seeing under the bridge and the train passing over.
Nice review Dave, you have been busy and warm weather is coming to an end, going to feel like 16 F over nite and maybe some white stuff falling by morning. Cheers and take care my friend.
Was 28 the other night Pete and got our first frost, but your right, soon will be cold every night. Oh well, I can't stop it. Thanks so much for watching my friend.
great job. it is nice seeing the construction of the bridges ! it is just crazy how much heavy steel is incorporated into a active railroad bridge. there was one neat me that was with gutters going over the top of the bridge. neat stuff!
Those were built by US Steel with only the finest of their steel and built very heavy and rugged Barry. They've held up well since 1977 when we first ran trains. Thanks so much for watching my friend.
Dave I really enjoyed watching your week in review. For some reason a train going over bridges like that make me nervous when I am below them. Have a great week my friend.
We used to have a battery powered hopper car and that car was controlled by 22 loco. That mast sent the signal back to the car to tell it what to do. Car is now not in service, it had some over heating issues. Thanks so much for watching my friend.
Looking good Dave, nice to see those fall colours! Picked up on one small job for you, the hinges on your high rail truck door need a squirt of WD40 🙂 Keep those trains rolling and stay safe out there!
Your right about that Richard, I keep forgetting about doing it. I used to oil the hinges on the big hi rail truck all the time, but my low rail truck is asking for the same consideration.... :-) Thanks so much for watching my friend.
Most of the inspections go well, but once in a while an inspector has a bad day and takes it out on us. All the inspectors treat me with a lot of respect tho.
There is a type of structural steel trademarked CorTen which is termed as a weathering steel in ASTM standards. It flash rusts, then corrosion is limited so no painting is needed. Remember, this mine was originally a US Steel property so they would use this technology.
Your right they were never painted Chris. I would imagine it was because of the steel they used when they were built, but that's a guess. Thanks so much for watching my friend.
Appreciate your saying that Steve. The contractors are still welding plates on Bridges 7 and 11. Both are almost done. Will be a video on my other channel showing you those plates to be shown soon. Thanks so much for watching my friend.
I'm sorry I do not know that figure William. But I do know they sell the coal for more than it costs to produce it, so that's a good thing, although there generally is not a big profit margin. Ten years ago we were selling coal for 40 to 45 a ton and it cost us 36 to 38 a ton to produce and ship it. Thanks so much for watching my friend.
I made a video some time ago on RR bridge guard rails that is on my CCRX channel Keith. In that video I explain why some of our bridges have the guard rails and some don't. In a nutshell the ones that don't are because the one in charge at the time was too cheap to put them back on when a deck got replaced. All of our bridges should have them on to my way of thinking. Thanks so much for watching my friend.
I hear you on that Bigcatauna. My friend Michael who replied back to you texts me all the time about what's going on out there. Thanks so much for watching my friend.
*_You got a catered lunch? NOT FAIR!!! LOL.. The rail bridges back home had walkways underneath for the railroad people. My friends and I would sit under the tracks while trains went over us. It was really loud. These bridges were built around 1900 and still holding up to todays trains._* 👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣
Wow that's amazing they were that old David. Pretty cool stuff. Our bridges were built in 1975/76, they are holding up fairly well for all those heavy coal trains all those years. Thanks so much for watching my friend.
Great shot of the train going over the bridge. Love hearing that train whistle. Beautiful foliage also.
Thank you and glad you liked it and thanks for watching.

Bridges look great, nice and clean, and great improvement for railfanning 🤣🤣
Appreciate the nice comment Pappy, your right much better for
rail fanning! Thanks so much for watching my friend.
nice seeing the train crossing the bridge. Thanks for filming that. :)
Glad you enjoyed Bryan and your welcome. Thanks so much for

A nice fall day there in your neck of the woods there in Pennsylvania.
And a free lunch to boot! Nice!
Always a pleasure to have the company feed us, they need to
do that more often Michael .... :-) Thanks so much for
watching my friend.
Dave I really enjoyed watching your week in review. For some reason a train going over bridges like that make me nervous when I am below them. Have a great week my friend.
Yea it can be a bit scary but I was far enough away Lewis. Glad
you enjoyed the video. Thanks so much for watching my friend.
Great video
Appreciate your saying that Ivory and glad you like it. Thanks so much for
watching my friend.
Just checking out your other channel Dave, good stuff
Thank you so much Ian, hope you will enjoy the videos.
What is the mast on the front of the leading locomotive on bridge 3? Is it a sensor or a camera?
We used to have a battery powered hopper car and that car
was controlled by 22 loco. That mast sent the signal back to
the car to tell it what to do. Car is now not in service, it had
some over heating issues. Thanks so much for watching my friend.

Happy Sunday Dave. Not sure I would be happy about an MSHA Inspection
Most of the inspections go well, but once in a while an inspector
has a bad day and takes it out on us. All the inspectors treat me

Railfanning at works a good day😊👷♂️🚂🇨🇦🇺🇲🙋
Your right about that! Get paid to railfan, it doesn't get any
better than that Doug. Thanks so much for watching my friend.
interesting that the bridge don't show any sings of ever being painted.
There is a field of thought emerging that letting "flash rust" takeover since it supposedly acts as a protectant. Controversial idea for sure.

@@keithjurena9319 Thanks for that.

Excellent "Week in Review" episode. Are all the bridge's scheduled repairs completed?
Appreciate your saying that Steve. The contractors are still
welding plates on Bridges 7 and 11. Both are almost done.
Will be a video on my other channel showing you those plates
to be shown soon. Thanks so much for watching my friend.
Bridges look great. How much does it cost per ton to bring coal to the barges? Thanks Dave
I'm sorry I do not know that figure William. But I do know they
sell the coal for more than it costs to produce it, so that's a
good thing, although there generally is not a big profit margin.

No guard rails on bridge 7? Is that due to the curve?
I made a video some time ago on RR bridge guard rails that is

vote wisely in order to keep the coal flowing, trust me on this I live in California
So do I. Where I work has the last registered coal power plant in California, they've been trying to shut us down for years.
