    Another great vlog 💚Buying fertiliser is like studying further maths.
    Slow release v liquid fertiliser v normal fertiliser v animal manure dependent on your plants is alot 😂

    Ebuka I really love your channel and YOU as a person which is why I need to tell you this, since I found your channel I have seen 1 consistent small issue that may be holding you back from getting more views. Sound quality. I am not sure what kind of microphone you use, but I would suggest trying JUST the iPhone audio. I think you posted a video awhile back with just iPhone audio, no mic, and the sound was much cleaner.

    Excellent video. Detailed analysis. Thanks for breaking it down for the common man. Well done. But I've a few questions:
    - Which is better liquid or granular fertilizer?
    - What about all the claims of granular fertilizers being slow release/controlled release. Is there any truth to them or is it all a marketing gimmick?
    - When it comes to application, do you suggest we go with the manufacturers instructions or we apply a very small dose with each watering?
    - Can we mist plants with the liquid fertilizer?

    It's good to go over the labels. Everyone says "use fertilizer" but never take the time to explain.

    • @TheMillennialPlantDad
      @TheMillennialPlantDad  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yup, I think most people also don’t understand what’s on the labels. These things are quite confusing and the companies don’t make it any easier

    the brackets do not denote that it has to be broken down. The 4.4% is K2O5 by weight, meaning only 43% of that 4.4% is K, or 1.9% and the remaining 57% is O.

    • @TheMillennialPlantDad
      @TheMillennialPlantDad  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@michaelmccarthy4077 I never actually said the brackets indicate it has to be broken down, I said they indicate, that’s what available for the plant and soluble in water 😊

    • @michaelmccarthy4077

      @@TheMillennialPlantDad @7:58 "not all of these elements will be immediately available to your plants. Some will need to be broken down... you need to look at the brackets". That 1.9 is the TOTAL amount of P that is immediately available and the total amount that IS available, they are the same. The only macronutrient that ever needs to be broken down is if the N is Urea, but even if it says 10% N and the N is listed as urea, it will not have brackets because % N is always listed as % N, not as a compound.

    • @TheMillennialPlantDad
      @TheMillennialPlantDad  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @michaelmccarthy4077 well I’m not sure I understand what you mean to be frank

    • @michaelmccarthy4077
      @michaelmccarthy4077 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@TheMillennialPlantDad Fair enough. K is always expressed as K2O5 and P as P2O, these are compounds not elements, so the actual amount of P and K is always lower than what is listed. To calculate the actual amount of K, you have to divide by 2.3 (e.g. 4.4/2.3=1.9) and for P divide by 1.2. The amount of N, however, is always expressed as a true % of N, regardless of what type of N.
      For example, MSU fertilizer is 13-3-15. Actual values are then:
      N = 13.5
      P = 3/2.3 = 1.3
      K= 15/1.2 = 12.5

    • @TheMillennialPlantDad
      @TheMillennialPlantDad  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@michaelmccarthy4077 ah ok I get it now, we are pretty much saying the same thing? The actual values are what your plants can use ( indicated in the bracket) and dissolvable in water, not the complex compounds or binders they come in.

    I'm glad I saw this....I use miracle gro and all my numbers are like the nitrogen...no numbers in brackets so does that mean all those nutrients are available to my plant babies? No numbers are anywhere on the packaging in brackets...my numbers are 12-4-8...all purpose....what's your thoughts babe? I was thinking of changing my fertilizer the next growing season but the manufacturers try and make things complicated if you don't know what to look for....thank you babe for clearing this up...now I know what I'm looking at

    • @TheMillennialPlantDad
      @TheMillennialPlantDad  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If it has no numbers in the brackets and yeah those are nutrients are whats available for your planties and it’s safe to assume it’s dissolvable in water for them. Those are actually really decent ratios too . Seems like a great fertilizer

    Look up Bokashi composting. Natural fertilizer!

  • @moomoon1410
    @moomoon1410 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    😅😅. 14:25 the rest is Pentoxide. That's how much Phosphorous you have in that compound element. The rest is Oxygen 5. There is no Phosphorus left to be "broken down".😅😅.

    • @moomoon1410
      @moomoon1410 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The debate about UK and ROI declaration, one declares as compounds elements, and the others as the elements themselves. Rest being oxygen. Which is essential for the roots, the soil. Don't you think? Now if oxygen needs to break down, I honestly don't know. The difference between all those synthetic fertilizers and for instance compost, is the fact that the nutrients are made available for the plants right away. From what I got to understand. Therefore skipping the process of breaking down. I guess!
