Yeah you have to weld up the original VCT feed from the head and tap into it from the front of the head. You also have to weld up some of the water gallery so it all matches the rb30 block. Luckily I bought a head that was pre modified. If I were to do it all again, id just got for a GTR head as that doesnt need to be modded. You do how ever need to re drill and tap larger head bolts into the block as the GTR head requires the thicker bolts.
I just drill, tap thread and grubscrew the factory vct oil gallery on the gasket face side when i built this for David,. Welding the heads on these nissan castings is quite tricky to get right as post heat cooldown if done too quickly causes localised hardening. Not ideal. Oil was fed to the vct by removing the oil gallery stopper and drilling the rear section to provide adequate supply. Makes the job much neater.
To true Rob. Currently waiting for my clutch to be rebuilt :) Fitting some 15in Weld wheels to it in a few weeks with some big rubber so no doubt ill be breaking more things in the future.
is that the stock tranny? im donig a similar build on my R33 gtst. Im using a neo head and rb30 bottom but i was told the gearbox wont hols more than 500 hp what set up are you running to hold that power? Thanks
after researching more into it i found this... The non-VCT, non-turbo RB25DE was fitted to the R32 Skyline.... did you have to run an external oil feed?

All Rb25det engines have VCT and yes we kept VCT for this engine. Well worth having for better response.

Still going strong from what I hear, lots of issues keeping driveline parts like gearboxes, diffs and driveshafts from breaking though.
