Watching a realistic mode city slowly grow and take shape is so satisfying. It's like watching a baby giraffe learning to walk. It's all just so unstable and can be knocked off course by a small wind. I can't tell you how many times mine nearly collapsed because waste didn't get picked up at one specific building or something.
I think that looking for a modded cement plant that fits into your foot print is a great idea! In reality these buildings aren't a one size fits all, An engineer designs them to accommodate the space they have! I think the hard thinkers in downtown Ashkehkal would absolutely find a way to make their own cement inside of their jungle of an industry park! Love the series, Love the Videos! Keep up the great work!
Very much enjoying this series - in fact it's the only one of this game I enjoy and watch. So I'm just curious, should we expect more episodes at some point?
Lofty Ashkehkal! "The roads are paved and trodden by strangers Upon the rugged dunes and ravines the Homeland's natural marvels The masses flock unto the many oases and rugged dunes As the local skyline towers over the Wadi Ibrashnah. Now the rustic lands are scarred with grey edifices and nature defying dozers Forever the golden clouds of Ashkehkal smothered by smokestacks of fumes The faithful little innocents orphaned and harmed by infidel practices As our people grieve for a discontent future, guided by the Party Elites-..." - An excerpt of incriminating texts composed by a now reformed Ashkehkalian convict & penal laborer rectified by the local Party of the Republic.
Hi, thanks for making this episode after the controversial diskussion in the comments of the last episode. I think the kindergarden and school schould be first priority, to make sure that women can go to work (I think kindergarden really helps to increase the numbers of workers) and the little ones are well educated. Did you ever build a swimming pool? Maybe in a hot country people prefer to go to swim instead of playing football. (It's summer in Germany so I can imagine) Expanding your construction industry is a good idea and a good suprise. Every step of production you make in your country means more money and progress. You could build the cement factory between the clothing factory and the repair and distribution area. And don't forget the oil that can be a money printing machine if you increase production. (But I guess you read the comments of the last episode.) Thanks for upgrading the road between living area and industrial area as main roads should be asphalt. As socialist countries are based on walkability and public transport, please use the busstation you already buld. You can start with one little bus going to the other station and to the industrial area and if it reaches his limit, you can still expand the service.
ZONING: In this game dirty industries causing polution should build outside living space or in a separate industrial area. But all other buildings can be build in the city mixed with appartment houses (mixed area). If somebody is interested in this topic I recommend the film "US. and European Zoning, Compared" by City Beautiful on youtube. This guy makes many videos about City Planning. 🏘-🏪?🏭?
You still dont have enough workers. Instead of planning new industries build some high quality flats it will tackle two problems - happiness and lack of workers
I love this episode how you slow down and showed us some more close-up views of the cities. You could add a playground park for the children. I believe it gives a bonus to sports activities, but I don’t know where it is on the toolbar.
A few things. 1. Batch upgrade roads. The process in upgrading roads is a matter of steps such as gravel for gravel, then for asphalt roads it becomes two steps gravel being the first then asphalt, etc etc. 2. For construction offices, you can buy smaller buses that will more than likely be filled than the big buses you are currently using and sites are more than likely to be staffed and completed. 3. Would you consider building sewage pipe from loading/unloading station to the dumping ground in increments so that way you're not spending fuel on those trucks. Same idea with the water situation in the north of town.
At the end of the video where you wanted to put a gas station, perhaps you could move the gravel road over closer to the prison and delete the joining dirt road, the cement factory would surely fit there. Then when the cement factory has found a place rejoin the roads behind the factory, it will add a small bit of time to vehicle travel but for a new full industry to cut expenses for future expansion it’s worth it.
Watching the truck traverse those high hills (bordering on mountainous terrain) at the 16:00 mark, my advice about building the railway on the flat land in the valley from the customs house past the water pumping facility/treatment plant makes all the more sense. You wouldn't have a railroad if you facilitate your current plan; you'd have a rollercoaster! If you're worried about efficiency, just set up a freight station, unload the good by the water treatment plant/pump whatever and have trucks take the short distance up the hill. It would be far more easy on the eyes and probably benefit your current setup than having rails crossing every major road that connects the industry to the customs house.
The happiness is "capped" by the quality of flats. It will be in sixties unless you build some better flats. On that note you still don't have the population to run a new industry let alone a new hospital. But well, all was said already.
I would really love to see you operate in more regions of the country. I Ashnekal requires a lot of maintenance but I would love to see other areas developed as well. Also I think that maybe some of your unhappiness is coming from citizens you're not seeing out there.
You may want to deliver foreign workers from both customs offices to your main bus station, they'll search for jobs themselves from there and your busses for demolition, construction and transit to the not southern district and the industrial district will have full bus loads too.
Party, I would install your cemet plant where you had planned your Coal power plant, behind the brick factory, or alternatively where the heating plant is near the prison, then build conveyors towers to move the coal and gravel to it. Also make it an export material as at $30 per ton, it would be a small money maker. Concrete Plant is a good idea to construct, but the asphalt plant needs to have a large tank to allow for reserves to be added to it so that you can stockpile it and prevent yourself from running out during periods when your building all those roads, otherwise, you have managed to solve most of your issues, though sewage is still causing you issues, i think its time to lay a pipe!
I'm not going to complain, unless he builds that hideous rollercoaster he has planned... Oh, but he does need to buy 3 new oil trucks. One for each pump jack. They would literally pay for themselves.
Maybe some more unsolicited advice: You can control the storage capacity of warehouses and open storages by ctrl-clicking the percentage number. That way you can insert the exact percentage of storage and can - if i recall correctly - just leave the 'spare' percentiles open for later assignment. Also, it might be worthwhile to check out the 'lenses' tab on the left toolbar, the one with the red map marker. There you can get more detailed information about buildings, populations, the waste situation, etc. You might even be able to find out, where the problem of starvation flares up. Lastly a small request for your consideration. You tend to give a short recap monologue at the end of each episode. With mighty Ashkehkal growing steadily it might be fun to follow a vehicle around for a bit during this monologue (The easiest way would be to simply click the eye-icon at the top of the vehicle screen and hide the overlay with ctrl+h). Lastly, as a few other commentors have noted, the change of perspective from a more removed top-down style to a more up close and personal style is really enjoyable, even if some of the streets look a bit atrocious. To remedy the latter, maybe just take a glace at your streets before confirming the builds, the most egregious mishaps can be fixed by simply auto-smoothing the terrain with a right click and taking care not to use this right-click-to-smoothe-feature on buildings directely next to a street.
Hello PartyElite, I found your videos back at the Warhammer Total War series and I loved your channel ever since and would consider you as an authority figure on RTS genres, that being said, I would love to see you make videos about Age of Mythology: Retold (the new one), I think you might enjoy it and I could secretly glean top tips from you; your Warhammer Total War guides were SUPER helpful for me when I started it, because that's what being a great general is about, thank you for all you do and I appreciate your channel.
5:40 you can click on the percent numbers to set them yourself by typing with keyboard instead, which is way faster 38:23 that's the EXACT spot you should connect to, keep your main road straight! 43:15 do NOT make it a direct connection, it needs an engine in between for it to work as you want it to work With the asphalt, I'd wait until you have your oil refinery up and running
The asphalt and concrete plants just speed up construction and help reduce traffic at the border. Also, if the plants have enough workers, you do get full loads of trucks, not just 0.5 tons.
You know, besides the city being "planned" it feels really organic and thus "real". That's something you don't see a lot with other youtubers who play W&R. I got a few ideas: - Oil Oil is a pretty "easy" moneymaker and should become the main focus. I'd say get the refinery as quickly as possible up and running to get that big steady cashflow - Subway: I kinda fear that continous building around the technical university may make it impossible to plan/build the subway tunnels, plan them before you might block yourself there. Cool idea would be to keep the tunnel section as short as possible, and put the above ground tracks in the median of the highway. - 2nd city With the planned expansions perhaps there could be looked into activating the second city and slowly build from there towards ashkenkal - Railways Plan the borders railway (from borderpost to borderpost), a marshallingyard at the main borderpost and the oilline/clothes trainline
I really don't understand why when your entire economy relies on one covered Hull exporting clothes you are taking one in and out of the exporting line instead of... Buying another one lmao
Hello, Tovarich! Just a few comments and random thoughts that may or may not bring more glory to our beautiful republic: - Regarding the cement plant, I fear we might be getting tunnel vision in our pursuit of industrial efficiency by building it close to the concrete. After all, cement can be produced and transported easily, while concrete is like asphalt, once you mix it with water, you can't let it sit still or it will harden on the spot. So why not build the cement factory near the coal supply, use conveyors there, then truck the finished cement instead of truck down the coal? - Regarding the expansion of our oil fields, I suspect we might not be getting a full return on our existing fields, I suspect our oil trucks take longer to export it than our pumps can...pump it. We should, at least, investigate if buying more oil trucks is more profitable than building more pumps. - Considering the heat of our geography, we might want to consider planting some trees in our residential and public spaces. After all, concrete, asphalt and gravel hardly make for fresh and temperate parks and squares. We have the water works and even fountains, why not find suitable trees to provide shade?
I believe it is about time you start setting up services down at the next town over. You could expand your population and increase the amount of workers you have if you start providing some services down there and transport them to the industrial center.
Hey, as a newer player getting interested in this game, especially the realistic mode, I have one quick query. If possible, when you purchase new vehicles you filter by "Show All", as a casual player learning it would really help more if you sorted by the proper vehicle type. Such as covered vehicle or bus, instead of capacity or speed and just looking at all vehicles. It is a very small nit pick or gripe, I'm sure once I get the hundreds of hours played like you have, I'd be able to just "know" what is best, but as a viewer it is harder to see what you are comparing side by side, ie apples to apples.
