That brass brine outlet on the side. My old 5600 has it capped off. Can I just cap off the new one as well? Thx

You can if you do not want to draw brine for softening.

I replaced the resin tank so do I need to add anything to the tank? The old tank sprung a leak so I just bought a new tank

Hello. I have a Fleck 5600 SXT Upflow water softener with 3/4-Inch Plastic Paddle Meter Assembly. What type of grease can I use for the O-ring (Item No 11, Part No 13305) of the Paddle Meter Assembly per the manual?

Engineer here, not a plumber. All O-rings used for downhole oil and gas tools use either DC-111 O-ring lubricant or Parker Super Oring Lube.

I thought all water softeners require an air gap on the drain. Does this not need one?

My boxes came beat up and raggedy looking. I had to refuse the resin tank because the box was so beat up, the tank was punctured, and resin beads were pouring out of the box. Other boxes were fine and “new” looking, but the charcoal tank and resin tank boxes looked like actual garbage.
