There are only certain floors that the Floor Bosses, or Monster Rexs spawn on at regular intervals. Infant Dragons are kind of mini bosses that spawn on the 10th and 11th floor that are a little different, but not true floor bosses. But the Monster Rex Goliath spawns on floor 17 every two weeks and is normally level 4. When the Level 5 Goliath spawned on the 18th floor that was due to Hestia's presence, the dungeon doesn't like gods inside it. Amphisbaena spawns on floor 27 once a month (level 5, but considered level 6 in the water), Udaeus spawns on the floor 37th floor every three months (Level 6), and Balor on floor 49 (We have only seen Balor in the Danmachi game, and then only the ancient one of legened that was on the surface, but it is mentioned as something both the Loki Familia fight, and something Ottar is unable to solo. He almost killed it once in an effort to hit level 8, but he almost died as well, and Freya forbid him from going to try and soloing it again. You can see Udaeus in the side Sword Oratoria series if you watch it. It has only spawned twice during the duration of the series thus far. Aiz beat it to hit level 6, and Ottar went down to solo it to get its sword. It was discovered when it fights one person (or maybe a small party) it will pull out a sword. Ottar had smiths use this blade to forge his current weapon. You can see the one Aiz got in the second season, it was the one Bell charged up to kill the Goliath. Aiz had left it in Riveria rather than carrying it to the surface.
The "holes" they were shooting at on the Lambton were the organs it uses to sense heat, so it is basiclly how it sees both above ground and while digging around.
