I'm so glad I got to see this band once at MDF 2009 (which was an epic fucking lineup). I remember reading an interview with Proscriptor where he talked about how he jams jazz fusion (foggy details, but I wanna say it was Weather Report, who I love).. That's when it made sense to me how he has such a distinctly unique playing style. If you're not already familiar with it, The Sun of Tipareth is a must have.
I was at the 09 deathfest too! Loved the set absu put on so damn much. Weather Report is the entire reason I started playing guitar and drums at 11yo too.
@IamVengeance666 but i am a lucky guy, When i was introduced to black metal it was by an "experienced user" so he saved me about a year of listening to crap bands like craddle of filth or dimmu borgir, for example...i am judging people who keep on listening to them like they are the philosopher's stone of a genre when they are not even artists, they're entertainers...

Sure, some band images are ridiculous and it used to bug me a bit that bands with some sort of image were always looked upon more than those without. However as I've got older I've become to care less about it to the point where I don't care at all now. Bands have always used image, some of it works, some of it doesn't.
@Ponnybit While i agree any type of metal that ends with core sucks and nu metal was never my thing, I'm 28 and started getting into black metal in 99-00 but only recently(2007) discovered these guys. I gotta say I used to have the same attitude but as I've aged a little if people want to learn about REAL metal we shouldn't be pricks by acting better than them because we heard something first, it's art not a competition.Although that said I compliment your tastes in metal and insight.
@Banddroid No.... there are a lot of things that are difficult about drumming, even things like breathing corectly have to be mastered. Proscriptor seems to do them all with ease. Plus, as the main guy in Absu, he has a very likeable and interesting character.
I'm 19, and I wasn't there back in the 90s. I wasn't even into proper metal back then. But you shouldn't scorn us for supporting a band you like. You're not helping anyone.
Dimmu, Cradle, svtyricon, mayhem, etc, nowadays are commercial bands, back in the 90's they used to be good...but now a few metal bands keep the fire.... like ponnyit said FUCK NUMETAL, FUCK DEATHCORE, WThell IS THAT SCREAMO SHIT?
