    They've totally misunderstood the meaning of "full band playthrough". This is not a live recording . This is the studio version. And the purpose of the video is to show "technically" how they perform the song. That is why they are so still . If they were jumping all around, we were unable to se anything.

    • @khellendross3573
      @khellendross3573 6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      exactly. The Jinjer song was in this same vein as well. But they may not be familiar with this type of video as its a fairly new thing in the last 4 years or so to do these sorts of videos.

    No emotion?! The fact that neither of you showed ANY sign of life at any point during the song just gave me the feeling that you were just going through the motions to satisfy the request list. I get that everyone has their own opinions and I can usually respect and understand your position on different songs but I feel that you guys (especially Sori) were way off the mark here. This is the first reaction video that I've watched of yours where I felt that you had already decided the outcome well before the first note was even played. This video seemed 'off' from the start. At the very least, Vin made an attempt to give some credit. Sorry, but I disagree and am giving the video a thumbs down for lack of emotion. Still love you guys though!
    PS: If you want to see how this band performs live, do a search for them playing live via Dr. Light Productions.

      Yeah, they said something about their "past feelings" with the band before they started listening (I personally don't remember them listening to this band before?), then once they started it was like they were purposefully sitting there as still as possible with blank faces. I found it strange as I have never seen them go into something as if they had an agenda of any sort on how they would react. I have seen them at least bob their heads a little on songs they have given like 6's and 7's to, but this was like really awkward and purposeful looking to me.

    Saying it has no soul? It’s a play through video, what’d you expect? Have to start calling vin google, because he seems to think he knows everything. Very arrogant and smug putting his views across, like he’s always right. Not a cool vibe from this guy at all.
    Sori seems way more open minded and not so forceful with her opinions.

    • @Patryn71
      @Patryn71 6 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Have to agree with most of this. I use to enjoy watching their reactions, but now it seems more and more like they already have their minds made up on some songs before they play them. Might as well just record your thoughts on the band and then play the video. It will end up the same.
      I wish you both luck and happiness on the upcoming addition to your family, but I doubt I'll watch any more videos from you guys. Peace.

      @FanaticDrummer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

  • @SovernGaming
    @SovernGaming 6 ปีที่แล้ว +90

    How can you not hear the passion in the music? This song is the same as tons of other songs you have liked in terms of "moving the listener." I saw plenty of passion in the music; the guitarists don't have to be headbanging and making the guitar face all the time to show passion. I think the problem might be that you guys didn't like them the first time, so you came in with a negative bias that shaped your entire perception. Maybe it's that you watched the studio session, which generally is visually boring to watch.

      I think it is because it is a studio video. Studio videos focus on the technical ability. If you are looking for passion to get you into it, studio videos are not good for a introduction to a band. While the passion seems to be missing for me , I will check them out more since I enjoyed the playing and ability!

      DUDE! They gave Bring Me the Horizon a 10... You can see they don't have a objective point of view. They are not judging the music by the music itself, rather they are doing it because of how the musicians look while playing.

    I don't get you guys tbh. Every time a song is slightly more complicated and well produced, it seems you guys dislike it. A song does not need to sound like it came out of the toilet to be passionate. I know I am exaggerating, you guys do enjoy some more complicated pieces, but you guys used an argument based on the fact that the song is technical or well produced to rate the song. I just don't get it.

      you have vin, if you have played Guitar Hero, which I know you have. The legendary guitar hero song "Through the Fire and the Flames" is from them. Its kinda like the final boss of guitar hero songs. Its an incredibly silly song, and they are an incredibly silly band. But their insane technicality and speed is remarkable and sort of....awesome? I dunno. I liked their first album alot. The song Valley of the Damned holds a special place in my heart. th-cam.com/video/T_QFCnfOjmM/w-d-xo.html

    Jinjer weren't very energetic in their video for "Pisces" either, exactly the same kind of video as this one, but I don't remember you complaining about how comfortably Eugene and Roman sat on their stools while playing. What you just watched is a typical day in the studio and jumping around like you would on stage or engaging in showmanship is counterproductive. You guys misunderstood the point of this video: It's the studio version of a full-band playthrough, a technical demonstration designed to be somewhat instructional and show the viewer how the song was written, so that's why the band members had to be still, focused and hit every note.
    I think this video threw you off because you've been watching too much concert footage and that has left you with the misunderstanding that bands display that level of showmanship wherever they perform, when that isn't the case at all. Watch bands performing live in studio FOR RADIO.... you'll notice that the moods of such performances are quite subdued.

Try Britney Slayes and Queensryche, when she sings Queen Of The Reich in karaoke and not in so sober condiition. This song is awesome!! Such great musicianship. Awesome vocal talent.
    I couldn’t log off Assassins Creed fast enough to get here.
    Boring? It’s a studio video. You have to be technical in your sound and hit all the notes when you are IN THE STUDIO!! I’ve been in a professional setting. You have to be focused. The footage was them setting up and preparing. You didn’t like it because you thought it was forced and not authentic? Not every artist writes subject matter that draws on emotion.
    Most power metal bands write fantasy.
    That’s the appeal. Technical metal and fantasy. If you didn’t like the writing then power metal isn’t your genre.

    One of the best bands I've heard live, I'm pretty close friends with Scott (drummer) I've always liked them but with their new album apex, it took them to the next level that they needed. They gained tons of popularity for that album, they are all just really awesome people overall. (Ps congrats on the baby 😁)

    Whoo! A UTA song, finally!
    By the way, the basic story is that the Immortal(the protagonist) is trapped in a mountain. Whenever someone calls his name he is freed and has to serve whoever called him pretty much indefinitely. In this case a super powerful queen called him to kill her four sons. She needs their blood to preform some ritual(I don’t know what it is) and she needs the Immortal to kill them. One is a politician, one is a sorcerer, one is a General, and one is essentially a nomad. The immortal has no problem killing the first 3 because they are all corrupt/cowards but the last one is married and has lived a good life. He befriends the immortal but they both know that he will die. Eventually the immortal kills the son and the queen puts him back in the mountain. This shocks the immortal because in the song Cleanse the Bloodlines the queen essentially promised to free him forever if he does what she wants. Brittney Slayes(the lead singer) posted a whole video series about the story if you want a more accurate version.
    By the way, a better(more passionate) song would be Dawn of Ages. It’s an older song but it shows more of the passion, in this case nerdiness, you guys are looking for. th-cam.com/video/yK61le0_oEo/w-d-xo.html Maybe General of the Dark Army would be better if you want something more recent. Either way they are both great songs and I hope you guys give them a listen. Enjoy!

      Yeah, I just got into them a few months ago from another channel's reaction to this. I have heard of this band before in the past but for whatever reason thought they were like a metalcore group (maybe because the sentence-like name), and I hate metalcore so I stayed away. Even though I have been into power metal for a very long time now I didn't realize they were of the genre.
      Needless to say I bought Apex and love it. I have also gone back to their Bandcamp page to listen to some of their earlier works.

    Like Vin mentioned music is subjective. What moves you might not move others and vice versa. This is basically what its like IN STUDIO recording. Everything has to be precise with technical music like this. When live its about the experience. Saw UTA live and they were awesome, great experience! Brittany is a badass and can deliver live.

    I'm a big fan of your reactions and breakdowns but here I completely disagree. They are concentrating intensely to play the music in this video. I actually enjoy seeing that level of concentration and attention to what they are doing but at the same time you can tell they are having fun.
    Watch their actual live videos and they are having a good time. Also to answer your question, yes she can hit those notes live.

    I think you can absolutely see passion for the music. They might show it a little differently than some bands, but I think it's there. Also, this is in a studio. They are trying to get a recording as right as they can for the album. I might be biased since this is one of my favorite bands, but that's how I see it. And for reference, I also like a lot of other types of metal that are very different; death, melodic death, thrash, metalcore, viking, nu metal, and others. Power metal just has an energy to it that other sub-genres don't

    It seems unfair and/or ignorant to claim the song has "no emotion" just because it doesn't resonate with you, especially when what it all boils down to is that you probably just don't like power metal.
    It's okay though, there is a huge chunk of the metal community who hate on power metal because they think metal has to always be dark, dismal, and edgy. Also, you may like bands that have power metal influences, such as Iced Earth, but not care for the more true to form melodic power metal such as this. Iced Earth is more of a mix between power and thrash BTW.
    I love all kinds of metal, and the fact there is a ton of it out there that hits other emotions besides being angry, angsty, rebellious, or sad is a big reason why it is my favorite genre of music. The people who hate power metal typically hate it because it is too uplifting, "happy metal" as they say, but I have not seen them describe it as emotionless. I love how uplifting and triumphant those swooning vocal melodies are in this song. I watched another reaction video to this song by someone who had never even heard of power metal before and during said vocal melody the girl just bursted out crying from how it made her feel.

    Now that you’re doing powermetal, I suggest trying some Sabaton - they have a song called “The Last Stand” it’s about the Swiss Guard’s last stand in 1527 against the Habsburgs during the sacking of Rome. A secular band doing a religious themed song. Check it out!

    People are having kids every single day, it is a choice you made (unless you're both against condoms/birth control as well as abortion?) and there are people in much more dire need. I mean, if I go to GoFundMe and click on discover one of the first ones is a young girl named Hollie with a brain tumor who can't get the surgery she requires without being flown to Texas. Sure, you're providing free content, but isn't that what the patreon is for? I do enjoy your reaction videos and hope you are able to keep doing them whatever happens, but this leaves a sour taste.
    I am on the fence about posting this comment - I hope you don't take it the wrong way. I know it won't change your minds; people will support it and it will be worth it for you to keep the gofundme going. But I do think youtubers with strong followings need to see some opposing opinions every now and then. This place can act like quite the echo chamber.
    P.S. congratulations on the pregnancy, I wish the best for you and your family no matter what!
