- We’re back with another episode of Shop Talk! We took a trip to the foreign land of Jersey City to visit NJ Skateshop to hear from some native New Jersians.
Although it’s only a 45-minute drive from where we filmed our last episode, the locals at NJ Skateshop were much more critical and willing to talk shit. The guests go from telling us that Ishod doesn’t claim Jersey enough to saying that Tik Tok is just for single moms in their 30s.

Shops are SO IMPORTANT and literally the heartbeat of any local scene. When my local shop closed in 2017(RIP Mosaic 2003-2017) the scene literally died. Support your local shop people.

Ya know I tend to agree - he’s not technical at all and does like the same 5-10 tricks all the time. But I still love watching him skate. And I think a lot of other people to do too, which is probably why he’s pro.

I mean Ishod from Bordentown, NJ which is technically south Jersey since it’s Burlington County. It’s right before you get into Trenton area. So for Ish the main skate spots was Philly or the local county skateparks or Franklin Mills X games/Vans park. Since you can from Bordentown just hop on the train and shoot right into Camden then transfer into Philly for cheap af.
Yeah I mean I agree, NJ has put out alot of top skaters over the years. But the scene here in general is a dead end. It's good while you're young and on the come up, but if you stay here too long you'll get nowhere. It's just a way zone. Nothing really important ever happens here, a d tbh most people are weird in one way or the other, alot of haters and phonies. It's still home and a good place to see but idk if I can fully support the vibe around here anymore, it's crashed out
