I loved this. I have been a physician for over 15 yrs & resonated with the role of the doctor (I assure you years from now many will scoff at our “science & methodologies ”. Thats for another post). But what moved me the most is how incredibly beautiful the medicine to the soul that only a priest can bring. The sacraments of confession & the Eucharist! What if we all gave thanks to God for our priests & expressed to them how incredible this gift is? Miracles & graces from Our Great Physician through a lowly man!!! Incredible to meditate on that.
Ave Maria, gratia plene, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.
Translation: Hail Mary, full of Grace, the lord is with thee. Blessed are You among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God pray for us sinners. Now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Amazing homily. Oh Lord, have mercy on our poor souls, for we are so easily troubled, especially in these days of moral madness and spiritual confusion.
This should be broadcast everywhere and preached in the pulpits. Get out of mortal sin! Enter the Catholic Church (traditional). Go to Confession. Pray the Rosary. Receive Christ with love and devotion in the Blessed Sacrament. Do a little penance. (Or a lot) Make the Nine Fridays and Five Saturdays. Dedicate the last three hours of your life to the Blessed Virgin. Pray daily for a Holy Death.
Make good use of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary because she requests to do so, and when we recite five decades of the rosary we implore her 153 times, “pray for us now and at the hour of our death amen”

The decree of Saint Pius V regarding physicians? The Bull of Benedict XIV? A parish priest around every corner who is willing to come and attend to the dying in Latin? Bloodletting? Really? Can we please have a homily about the circumstances of death and dying that is relevant to the age in which we live?
@UC59UFRm_dTDTV85S04O1xEQ It sounds like the good priest here is here reading word for word from something that was written in the latter part of the 18th century. I doubt that you will be able to find anything about this Bull of Pope Pius V concerning physicians anymore. Most likely it is lost to history. Pius V was pope from 1566 until 1572. The context makes it seem to me that Pope Saint Pius V was warning the Catholic physicians of his time (and the world he was writing to was solidly Catholic then) to make it clear to their patients when it seemed that they might be in danger of death so that they would have time to prepare for their deaths by making Confession and receiving the last Sacraments etc. Medical knowledge in those times was a lot less precise and diagnoses and treatments were nowhere near as specific as they are now and the physicians always had an out if they didn't want to tell their patients who were often their financial patrons as well news that they didn't want to here. Medicine was very different then I think and I don't know whether it really would apply today or not. Things are much more professional, in that regard at least, these days.
@@erics7992 its the sermons by St. Alphonsus Ligouri this was in a time when physicians were required to promise before God to care for the dying and getting a priest. These sermons are brilliant to compare how degraded our faith has become to compare how we ought to be living to a time where though people were catholic had less of a chance of being mortally sinful compared to now. He brings to life this saints holy words. Edifies us and calls us to live a higher standard of true life in Christ in how He willed it.
@@nataliabenoit4653 Thank you. I figured he was reading from Saint Alphonsus but thank you for the clarification. But I have to disagree with you: while those may have been better times they aren't the times in which we live. Today you are far more likely to receive care from an atheist or Pakistani Muslim doctor for whom the decrees of pope from 400 years ago wouldn't even register. Moreover medical professionals seem to have little problem telling people they are going to die today since medical knowledge is today much more precise than it was 200 or 400 years ago. But there are a whole host of moral issues associated with death and dying now that hadn't even been thought of in the days of Saint Alphonsus. And yes I realize this was supposed to be about the state of the man's soul but even there it was weak in several places.
HELL OR HEAVEN, YOUR CHOICE , ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE: There is only one God who is eternally manifesting himself in three persons, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Your trust in Jesus and what He did for you on the cross is what saves you. The moment you trust in Jesus and only Jesus, you are sealed by the Holy Spirit and are saved .
Acknowledging Jesus as your saviour does not ensure that your are saved. That is a heresy of protestantism. Jesus established His church and was born through Mary his mother. There is only one true church that Jesus has founded and has the only proofs of salvation. Incorrupt bodies, miracles of the Eucharistic. Unless you belong to the church that christ founded you will not saved for there is no salvation outside of the catholic church. I mean the traditional catholic church of all time, not post Vatican 2
