Sigh No More 7. Majestic 8. Empire Of The Undead 9. To The Metal 10. Land Of The Free 2 11. Insanity and Genius
I’ll do my best my friend ! I like to try to look like I know what I’m talking about 😂 ah whatever is fun ! Thanks for sharing your ranking , can’t argue with those Top 4 albums , great stuff ! Thanks for tuning in 🤘 always appreciated :))
Great review! Love Gamma Ray. My top three is the same as yours. And it’s great to see someone giving credits to ”Sigh no more”, it’s mighty underrated. The only song I could do without on that one is ”Countdown”, the rest is awesome! Some interesting stuff on the way, Helloween and Flotsam! Take care!🤘
My favorite band of all time, I agree with your ranking. Majestic will always be my no.1. Revelation is one of my all time favorite tracks. Great video!
Thank you & great to meet another Gamma Ray fan ! My copy of 30 years live is on the way , can’t wait to watch the dvd ! Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Love Gamma Ray. I own all of their studio albums along the Master Of Confusion EP and a couple of live Dvds. Not a big fan of Kai's vocals but they fit the music quite well. Majestic is my favourite GR album. Very solid and memorable. Excellent job Darcy 🤘.
Another excellent ranking video Darcy. I’m a huge Gamma Ray fan. For me, Land of the Free is by far my #1. I would place Sigh No More and Insanity & Genius much higher on my list, Ralph is amazing on vocals (and I discovered the band during these two albums, so some sentimental connection I guess). As you said, there is not a bad Gamma Ray album. They were also an amazing live band, got to see them 5-6 times over the years. Cheers 🍻
Great ranking Darcy! I have the same top 5 as you, can never go wrong with those albums :) have you checked out their live cd Skeletons in the Closet? Very good live album that was recorded in Barcelona and Strasbourg, France during the Skeletons in the Closet tour in 2002. Keep the rankings coming! /Martin
I have all of these albums and a few live albums too. I would struggle to rank them though as I only got into them in the last 5 years or so and binged on the albums without getting to know the individuals well first. I have all of the 25th editions, once I got one I had to get them all lol. They were so consistent, great band! enjoyed you ran king Darcy!
I’m going to have track down those 25th anniversary editions , the updated artwork is phenomenal ! I know what you mean about binge listening a band ! Mike is trying them in order , that’s a good idea ! Thanks as always for watching Andy 🤘 Cheers To The Metal !
My ranking for the Gamma Ray albums would be 11. Insanity And Genius 10. Heading For Tomorrow 9. Land Of The Free II 8. Sigh No More 7. To The Metal 6. Empire Of The Undead 5. Majestic 4. Land Of The Free 3. Somewhere Out In Space 2. Power Plant 1. No World Order
Hi Darcy!! nice rank, didn't remember they had eleven studio albums, i do remember reading in a magazine that Kai Hansen had put a new band and named it Gamma Ray,got a tape with Heading for Tomorrow and love it!!! same thing with Sigh No More a little bit more melodic, then for same reason lost track of them, i blame the 90's alternative genre...... now i have a lot to listen to. cheers and be well
Hey Darcy, good ranking video like you said this is a band that I never got into but I was into the early Helloween stuff so I'll have to check out some of the songs or maybe look out for the CDs to see if I find any of them.
I like all of these albums but yeah I agree insanity & genius is an odd album. Kai Hansen is my favorite member of Helloween so when I first discovered Gamma Ray in 1999 with Power Plant I was hooked.
Only known about Gammaray for a few years now and only have a couple of albums. I really only followed Helloween from the start. Kai to me is a great story teller in his song writing. I’ll be on the lookout for some of these 🤘
I’ll tell you what & some fans won’t agree but the period between 1994 to 2001 I’d take Gamna Ray over Helloween all day long , don’t get me wrong that period is some of the best with Andi Deris on vocals , but the Gamma Ray albums are stronger in my opinion ! Try them out , you may be pleasantly surprised ! Cheers DOOMinator 🤘 Stay Minty
I love how we start out getting Helloween, then we get gamma Ray and then Primal Fear. All solid bands. Funny thing probably the biggest of these being Helloween is my least favorite out of the group.
When I had just discovered the band I saw Gamma Ray at PPM Fest in Mons and bought Land of the Free I & II and New World Order there (and got them signed). I think I must've had them on repeat for months after that and played them each like 40 times.
Oh wow you got them signed , that’s very cool ! I hope we haven’t seen the last of Gamma Ray , would love to see them release a new album . Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Good observation on that album you think people will own. It's very cheap here too and I've been tempted to pick it up myself but I'm trying to go at this collection in order as much as I can. I'm going to relisten to that bottom one because I thought it was very good. I can't comment on the number one yet but number 2 is awesome. Youre right people could argue he's limited but I love him.
That’s right argue all you want but Kai is the man haha . I know you love that #2 , hope you get a copy of that #1. I do like your thought of going at these in order & I’d say at a slower pace , I think you’ll enjoy the ride more ! Cheers Mike 🍻
It’s so hard when you have a discography that is so consistent , not much room between these albums ! I know your a big fan of Kai Hansen , such a cool guy ! Thanks as always my friend 🤘 Salud To The Metal
I am just discovering Gamma Ray now.. it started a few months ago with the new Helloween (which is my favorite album so far this year). I have only heard Somewhere out in Space, Power Plant, Land of the free and No World order. Why are Gamma Ray CDs and Vinyls impossible to find? (or at ridiculous prices!!) Awesome albums.. i regret missing their tours now.
Great band to discover & looks like you’ve heard some of their very best albums already ! Your right about some of those albums being next impossible to find , especially the ones on the old Noise Records label ! Ear Music has reissued the first 4 on cd I believe , maybe more coming I don’t know ! Good luck with your collection & thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
I would say their 1st 3 albums are the best. I love both Helloween and Gamma Ray, but I would say Gamma is even better. Stronger songs, stronger riffs and it's because Kai is leading it. Especially the Scheepers albums. If I would rank them it would be like this: 1. Insanity And Genius 2. Sigh No More 3. Heading For Tommorow 4. Land Of The Free 5. Land Of The Free II 6. Majestic 7. Somewhere Out In Space 8. To The Metal 9. Power Plant 10. No World Order 11. Empire Of The Undead
I think Send me a Sign was written by Henjo, not Kai. Great video !! You should merge a Gamma Ray ranking with a Helloween ranking... is Land of the Free better than Keepers 2 ? is Master of the Rings better than Powerplant ? if I merge the 2 bands, this would be my top 5: Land of The Free Somewhere out in Space keepers 2 Time of The Oath Master of The Rings Helloween are more consistant through the years but my 2 finest albums are from Gamma Ray. Great video, thanks !! Have a listen to my album, maybe in few years we ll have enough releases to earn a "ranking" video ;)

But I have over many years have tried to get into those two groups but for some reason? they have never clicked for me. And i can't really even say what it is actually. The same with Primal Fear. I probably could make a big list of verygood groups that I've actually tried to get into over the years. And for reasons unknown they just never ever clicked for me. I only own and heard one album To The Metal, quite glad that was lower down because it didn’t blow me away and put me off a bit checking more of them out. I’ll have to go back and delve a bit deeper.
Darcy as you know I blame you for owning a complete Gamma Ray studio and live album compilation after watching a spotlight you did a while back. For my favorite albums I'd say my top 4 are Heading for Tomorrow, Land of the Free, Sigh No More and Powerplant. I really haven't had time to listen much to the other albums hahha. I can't wait for the new Helloween album but weird enough it isn't up for pre-order on Amazon unless you want a $70 Japanese version....weird or what?? I feel like if I order it on Nuclear Blast I'm gonna get hosed on the shipping and all that. Great video!! I'm guessing there might not be another Gamma Ray album for a real long time.
Yes I do find that odd that the new Helloween isn’t available for pre-order on Amazon yet , I did see this morning that KK’s Priest is up for pre-order ! Great Top 4 Steve , you never know it might change a bit once you’ve let all the albums sink in ! Sorry about me being a bad influence 😉 Cheers Steve

You ever think about a band and wonder why you don't own any of their albums? Every time I have heard Gamma Ray I enjoyed it, but when I'm looking for albums I never think about them. Is he doing any of the reunion shows with Helloween? Good info man. Nicely done as always.
Yes I know exactly what you saying & then one day you wake up & you own them all 😂 Yes Kai is a full member of Helloween & if I was a betting guy I’d say this next tour with go well into 2024 ! Cheers brother 🤘 Thanks for stopping by :))

never been a big gamma ray fan or hammerfall love keeper of the 7 keys part 1 and i love the german power metal band stormwarrior nobody ever talks about them and i think they blow em all away but thats just me obviously those bands you mentioned gamma ray hammerfall grave digger not favs but im sure those bands arnt going to loose any sleep over it like my friend once said about maiden when they lost clive they lost me i thought who cares
Great ranking darcy, my fav is no world order too, i see them 3 times live, i remember before the concert in new york i been walking in time square and face to gace in from of me was the whole band walking too, i said hi kai hi guys, im going to the show ,you guys rock they said cool man they saw me with my camera and ran away hahha that was funny , stay metal bro cheers 🤘🤘
Oh man that’s such a cool story , awesome that you’ve seen them 3 times ! Cheers brother 🤘 Metal 4 Life
Excellent Gamma Ray ranking there, Darcy!
Thanks Tony 🤘 much appreciated :))
Nice video Darcy! A little interesting info for you: Kai actually live with new wife in my city - KOŠICE/Slowakia.
That’s very cool ! Hope you’re doing good Lad 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Another great video Darcy, hope you're keeping well. Gamma Ray are a great band, no really bad albums. I love anything Kai is involved in. I have the 25th anniversary editions of the first four albums and the covers are a lot better 😂 Really looking forward to the new Helloween album. Keep up the good work 🤘
Thanks Adrian & yes I’m doing great , hope you are too ! Yeah I love Kai too , I really need to pickup some Unisonic & early Iron Saviour he was involved in ! Yes the covers on the reissues are awesome ! Cheers my friend 🤘 Stay Safe
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 the Unisonic and Iron Savior albums are well worth picking up as well. The new Haunt album Beautiful Distraction arrived yesterday on cd and it sounds killer, will have to wait another while for the vinyls to arrive. Hope you're having better weather than here in Ireland, it seems to be constantly raining here at the moment. Take care 🤘
Awesome ranking Darcy, Thanks
Your welcome my friend & thank you for tuning in 🤘 always appreciated :))

I'm very familiar with Helloween, but not Gamma Ray. Which album should I start with?
This is going to sound cliché but you could start anywhere really , but let’s go with any of the Top 4 ! Let me know what you think ! Cheers Mark 🤘
Land Of The Free still has some of the greatest metal I have ever heard in my life!
I couldn’t agree with you more! As much as I like Ralph’s vocals he is better suited in Primal Fear, Kai is my guy in Gamma Ray. Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Cheers from Finland
Totally agree on the order you ranked them! You can´t beat New World Order! Believe it or not, as you premiered the video I was listening to Hoodoo Man by Birth Control and yesterdays good night album was Look At Yourself...
Henjo and Michael have a band called The Unity now but I never checked out their music. New Helloween? Naaaahhhh, everything after Oernest of Life and Metal Invaders from the Death Metal compilation ´84 sucks! ...just kidding...
16:28 Send Me a Sign is written by Henjo Richter, not Kai Hansen
That’s good to know thank you. I hope those two guys get to work together again, I’d love to see another Gamma Ray album someday. Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Hi Darcy! I stopped following Gamma Ray after Sigh No More. Love the first two though. Same with Helloween; up until Keeper II.
Are you gonna check out the new Helloween album ? Have a great weekend Mark 🤘
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 I heard Skyfall, liked it quite a bit. As for being new albums..yeah..would love to explain it some day, too long for here ;)
very nice video and i liked it and i am sube❤
Thank you very much ! Nice to meet you 🤘 Cheers from Canada
For me
1) Land of the free (favorite track: All of the Dammed)
2) Powerplant (favorite track: Wings of Destiny)
3) Somewhere Out in Space (favorite track: The Winged Horse)
4) No World Order ( favorite track: New World Order)
Great top 4 , you can’t go wrong with any of those in my opinion ! Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Thanks for highlighting this awesome band

Metal rules. Yes its me. What's going down bro
Hey man what’s up , good to hear from you 🤘
Do a def leppard ranking
I’m gonging to be perfectly honest with you I’m only only a fan of the 5 albums , they lost me after that ! I do like the 2nd single from the new album , definitely a bit of a throwback sound ! Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 but that doesn't mean no ranking
No World Order is my least favorite. I’d go…1)Somewhere Out In Space 2)Land of the Free 3)Powerplant 4)Heading For Tomorrow 5)Majestic
Hey Mark 👋 Nice to hear from you , hope your doing good ! Great Top 5 ! Take care ~ Darcy 🤘
Great band..from mastermind kai Hansen...i find them better than helloween....their live album hell yeah live in Toronto is a kick ass album...I rate it in my top 50 all time live albums...My absolute favorite studio album is power plant followed by majestic and to the metal.
I have all their live stuff & I totally agree , Top 50 for sure , probably higher ! Nice to hear you love Powerplant , awesome album ! Thanks for watching , take care Tore 🤘
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 your metal reviews are my favorite on youtoube...they are very interesting and last the right time....10 15 minutes !!!!!!. short and accurate descriptions without long and boring moments describing every sigle album like in many review videos...like pete pardo...which i like...!!!!! but i prefer your show way better because it ranks the music i prefer which is pure heavy metal and hard rock....!!!!!! I hope you reach hundreds of thousands of subscribers because you deserve it.....!!!!!!
@@toredurgali8374 Thanks for the kind words ! I just try to give my point of view without using generic bullshit words that could apply to anything 🤣 The goal for me is to continue to connect with other Metal fans , I always try my hardest to get back to each & ever person , what’s the point of commenting if no one ever reply’s !! Cheers my friend 🤘 Have a great weekend :))
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493keep up the good work...i always enjoy watching your shows because you are always spot on. I dig a lot hard rock and heavy metal and i like giving tips to experts like you. I suggest you to check out on you tube these italian hard rockers from the 80's called vanadium...they sing in english and they really rock hard. I have all their albums on vinyl and every one who listens to them gets impressed...if you like deep purple from machine head to the burn albums you won't get disappointed....a race with the devil is their best album in my opinion...and the title track is an iconic metal anthem .their live album called live on the streets of danger is just fuckin killer... any way darcy my heroes are motorhead and accept....!!!!! Just rock on with your show and keep in touch....!!!!!
You still do their worst - to their best ?
You already know the answer to that question , it’s what I’m comfortable with ! I appreciate your suggestion & I may try the reverse order someday ! Is Gamma Ray a band you like ? What’s your favourite album by them ? Hope your doing good 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
That’s the thing - if you started with your favorite - I’d listen to your entire breakdown.
Hearing the intro and the okay release first...I get bored....no time....soooo much is on TH-cam.
@Seagull Rock Squawk 99% of people on TH-cam do worst to best. The large majority prefer it that way
The large majority voted for Biden / Harris too - ha ha ha.
Metal - is NOT following the majority. Screw that sh*t.
👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
🤘🤘🤘
Most bands do there best stuff in there first 7/8 years. Grandads trying to rock is ridiculous.
Pra mim são os 3 com Ralf só,.com Kai não da. Não canta é nada, pode ser um otimo compositor e guitarrista e só.
