I purchased this, it took awhile to receive, which I contributed to 2021 issues. This review is good and based on my experience, accurate. I would say the t-fitting and control valve are essential. You need to feed the reflux condenser with a different flow rate than the final, controlling the head heat is the magic and the reflux condenser is the key. Hose clamps I do not like, I went and purchased the kind I could get a small socket on. If you use a container for water, make sure you get a pump that can handle the flow. I use a garden fountain pump, 10 ft or more lift. A good still that will get you started in the hobby in a good way. Mile Hi is very good to order from and to work with if there are issues. Like what is said in the video, stuff happens, but these guys will help get it sorted out.
THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!! I'm in the market right now and chose the 8 Gal w SS Column (It's on sale as of 1/11/22). I thought ' I wonder if someone did a review'. It was nice to see all the detail. Just pulled the trigger
You the man Still'in In The Clear! Im an avid distiller and believe that you are aswell. I appreciate you're content and enjoy the videos in which you provide. Thank you again for the content!
Fantastic still and I love Milehigh Distilling. You will really love that 48 hour turbo yeast. Really clean fermentation with no off flavors and I can say that this specific yeast has never failed me. I have their 3 gallon with a 2 inch pot still head and I've bought a ton of supplies from them. In fact, I have an order coming in as we speak. I first started buying from them in 2013.
You are correct I started the company in my garage back in 2003. I was in the process of selling the company to Jayson who worked for Mile Hi for 8 years but he just passed away from covid at age 47 Jayson had a passion for distilling and loved working with the customers. Jayson will be greatly missed he was a good friend and great business partner. Great video I hope you don't mind if I use some videos on the website and Facebook? Mike
I'm so sorry to hear about Jayson's passing. I have made several purchases from your company and all I can say is WOW. I own the mighty Mini and it is a work of art. The welding is exceptional, and the quality of everything else I have bought from you is indeed high quality. I wish you had access to more milk cans because I would love a bigger one, but I just can't justify buying another column and the accessories just for the can. When things get better, I will certainly be purchasing an 8 or 16 gallon milk can. My best to all at Mile-hi and thank you for continuing to put quality above all else, it shows ! -- dennis
I also wanted to add. For anyone thinking of buying this still, it is defenetly worth the money. You would be hard pressed to build a still of this quality for cheaper than what they are selling it. This will last a lifetime.
I have the 3 gal. model. Since I only do runs for myself, the micro version is perfect. It's been a treat running this still and in my opinion Mile Hi is fantastic. Customer service is top-notch and the quality of the still and parts is the best...
That's a great review. I have watched other videos showing this still but not in up close detail. I have been saving up for this very still, and this just reassures my decision to by this still. Great job sir.
I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I'm also going to be doing some videos running the still in the various configurations, so be on the look out for those.
I agree 👍 those guys are great, I have the little pot still it is a work of art lmao . The Turbo yeast is killer stuff they send a pack with the still. Milehigh is excellent.
I ordered this and am excited to receive it. It’s been about a 4 month wait. From your experience why do so many people bash this setup on the home distiller website ? This is all new to me so I hope I made the right decision in choosing this rig.
Don't worry, you'll love it. This is a great set-up. especially for someone who is new. It's very simple to run yet has great flexibility so you can move into intermediate distilling. This setup will allow you to learn and grow. I don't know why people bash it. I guess everyone has their preferences. Happy distilling.
Ok, I have one on order and will say it is a long wait. I do think they make a good product just that the dual 8 gal needs a split and clamp from the condenser that would make it more upgradable to the pro version down the road. They had a still called the outback they don't make this model now for some reason but all the tower parts would fit into the kettle. I think SS parts are the way to go and see no need to go copper at all when you can add copper to the tower. If I had any beef it would be too many models not needed just upgrade parts from a basic model but you know it's all about money nowadays.
I’m interested in getting this still, though it would be my first. I figured I may as well get something good right away. The slow order fulfillment is a little worrisome, but everyone seems to eventually get their orders.
I want to buy a still but lord there is so much information I feel overwhelmed. I am going to buy one from mile high that decision is made but they have so many types and variations
Mile Hi let me know the gauge of the milk can is 16 ga. not 20 like I was guessing, so it's heavier than I even guessed. The copper is .05" thick.

I bought this exact setup a couple of years ago. I haven’t had any issues with it. Great review and great channel I’m enjoying your videos. Thanks
Yeah it is a good still. I'm really glad you're enjoying the channel. Thanks for the comment.
I bought one because of your review, and I love mine and love the mile high crew. I want a 16-gallon jacketed pot.
For sure, it's a great still.
I own an 8 gallon pot still from them! I love it! I just got the mighty mini pro tower today. Can’t wait to see it work!

Great. You won't be disappointed.
Congratulations - how long is your anticipated / estimated wait time?
So it's two years later. Are you happy with your purchase? I'm thinking about getting this.

Thank you Jacob. I'm really glad you appreciate the content.

Look what the cat drug in. I'm getting ready to purchase my first still. Get it running when we move to Missouri..

Mike
Yeah I was sad to hear about Jayson. Feel free to use any of the videos if you like.
By the way, I really enjoy running that 8 gal. dual-purpose pro.

For sure. It is certainly possible to build a still for cheaper, but unless you have access to fabrication equipment, it won't be the same quality.
I have the 3 gal. model. Since I only do runs for myself, the micro version is perfect. It's been a treat running this still and in my opinion Mile Hi is fantastic. Customer service is top-notch and the quality of the still and parts is the best...
I agree. They're a really solid company. Thanks for the comment.

Milehigh is excellent.
Can you please run this still so I can learn how to run it properly. I just orderd mine because of your great review. Thank you

That is a nice still. They do a good job with the fit and finish.
I just got that same but in 3” I can’t seem to find no more videos on it

The slow order fulfillment is a little worrisome, but everyone seems to eventually get their orders.
Yeah, we've had a number of folks in our Moonshine For Beginners group order from Mile Hi. They always get them.
I really need to start setting some money aside for that set up
I am not a welder. But I have heard that welding copper to stainless is not fun. Mile Hi made it look easy, those are pretty welds.
Copper can not be welded to steel or stainless steel, but is actually brazed, close but not quite the same.
I would really like to see how to setup the reflux in detail
You bet. I've got two other videos with that still to do ahead of that then I'll do a reflux video. Thanks for the input. I love it.
good quality construction
Mine is pretty heavy gauge, maybe 16?
Beautiful rig!
I've enjoyed it very much. I highly recommend this still.
I've been researching, and decided on this one, can't wait to be able to get it! Thanks for all your great information and time!
Tell Mile High to get rid on the wing nut on the upper clamp
Are you still using this? If so, how is it working for you?
Yes, I use it more than my other stills and it is great. You can't go wrong with this still.
Looks cool
Shoot if this is too late that stinks but if the spout was about 6” lower it would be great only thing so far
Really a good vid
Thanks, James.
I want to buy a still but lord there is so much information I feel overwhelmed. I am going to buy one from mile high that decision is made but they have so many types and variations
If you go to www.moonshinersacademy.com I have a free course on how to choose a still that should help you make the decision.
