Yep, I agree the candles are pricey, but I love the light at camp. One of my favorite bits of gear. This lantern does and will continue to show up in my posts. I use it all the time. I do enjoy all of your ideas and alternative options for gear, Bex. Thanks, mate. Cheers.
I just recently purchased a small brass lamp like this and had no idea it would fit inside a UCO lantern. Thank you for the info. and demonstration. All the best to you in 2024.
Very Cool Oil adapter for UCO!!! Thanks for the Quick Tip. I've been Experimenting with Crisco Candle. Once you get the right size Candle it works great for a long time emergency lighting source. Cheers Brother. From Swansea SC..
I will look into that, I believe church pillar candles burns for hours at a good price, albeit not being glass globe mounted. I now have a pillar candle in my bugout bag, and the UCO is great for camping...Be well....bex
That's the first time I've been to AliExpress - I think! A few years ago a bushcrafting youtuber showed how to make one (can't remember who, well I can, I just can't remember his name!) Anyway, very good indeed Bex. All the very best to you and yours 👍 👍 👍 🍻
Cool thanks for vid & link, I have see others make with copper pipe, but I don't means to solder. These look better as have a thread. TIP Bex & other I get dinner candles from 99p shop or QDs then cut to size don't burnt as long but if on a budget works. I like candle light better then LED. Thanks😎
The construction quality of this new UCO candle, seems a lot more flimsy to the one I had 10 years ago. Uco candles seem massively over priced Imo....Thanx for watching
had one, liked it ... used it a few times, then i accidentally knocked it over spilling wax inside the glass, in the morning i closed it without thinking ... and the glass broke, looked for a replacement glass (£17 on ebay ) so now i have an improvised hobo lantern (a jam jar with a tea light candle)
I had a UCO about 10 years ago, and found the build quality seemed better than this red replacement, The globe struts seem flimsy, and locating lugs on the screw base seem loose, do you find the same...? I will keep my peepers open for a new globe for you, but UCO seem to have the monopoly on parts, as no one makes generic parts. My hobo lantern works fine for me, (cow & gate) baby food jar fits a tea light a treat, with tin foil on the inside as a reflector....bex
@@bexbugoutsurvivor yup ... the construction was not great .... struts were not very strong and the glass would often slide down. ... the other down side is the price of the candles ... seriously over priced. Will stick with tea lights and my jar, lol (hadn't thought about putting foil inside)
A low wick will burn for about 3 hours in my personal experience, good enough to used as a back up rather than a replacement to the candles them selves.....bex
I tried this with the link, but the size is just too small, with lamp oil it only lasts for an hour or so. I tried with a small flame and it only lasts for two, I wish there is version with a bigger fuel chamber.
Testing out 4k on (some) of the upcoming vids. But the old PC is too slow and underpowered to handle the HEVC format. The GOFUNDME campaign should make things look a lot fresher if the target is achieved....Fingers crossed.
@@bexbugoutsurvivor I can't donate much but your channel deserves it. Cheers for all you do for our entertainment and experimenting with different sleep systems etc. Hope you meet your goal

We lost power for about 6 hours two weeks ago, my tiny candles with the aluminum bottom worked great, I recently got the uco and oil lantern

AWESOME BEX... WHAT A BRILLANT LITTLE BURNER ..👍
Dang bro, You still making vid's! I remember years ago I used to watch you 👍 Good to see ya again 🙏

Bex , looks like a good bit of kit , thanks for sharing , God bless mate !
I never thought about using a mini lamp I used small alcohol bottes for mine I think yours would be safer to use Thank you for a great video bex 😊😊😊

How long will a good fill burn? Also is there any appreciable difference in the heat output if you needed that as well?
Good modification great idea

Love my lantern but would like to add the oil. Thanks for the link! How long does the lamp oil burn? 🪔

thank you!
Welcome!
Good idea that . Might give that a go . How long will that burn without a refill ( roughly )
With a low wick, mine burns for about three hours. Longer wicks will deplete the fuel a lot quicker....Thanx for watching
@@bexbugoutsurvivor nice one , cheers Bex 👍
It looks like there is enough room to put the lid inside the candle holder to store it.
You don't know what your talking about....

Is the wee brass pot from Aliexpress?
Think so. They do a large size too.
Hi I’ve looked on AliExpress and can’t find this, can you tell me what it’s listed as please? Thanks.
link is in the description box. But here is a quick link.

You fulled out the wick a little to low but its nice though
How did you get that whick in it's driving me nuts??
It was a pig for me too. I seem to recall poking it thru with a needle. Patients is the key, and it was in short supply with me at the time....lol
Do you run it on Meths ? I do like the look of it to be fair. Cheers
Stoves require meths lanterns requires lamp oil...
Fair enough, just thought you might use the one fuel for two jobs. I've seen the lamp candle inserts but never tried one. Cheers
It would be great if their was one of a full candle length, assuming your 3 hours it would probably be double that.
Great video!
That would be cool!
New camera?
