Hm, sadly I cannot help you with this since the only issue I've gotten with the game was the game crashing when i use windowed mode.

I just played this game for like a week straight! Definitely a hidden gem it may become one of my favorite games ever now!

It's pretty nice, personally I'm more of a way of the samurai 4 fan though

I haven't played it yet, but I am gonna soon! 3 appealed to me a bit more due to the Sengoku period setting over the more modern one of 4! I also picked up the developer's other game Kamiwaza: Way of the Thief.

I think what's missed here in the review is just how much this game resembles Majora's Mask in its time mechanic. There's a challenge for players to find and achieve all the endings. There are hidden endings and a true one. Inklings happen at certain times of certain days with certain player actions as triggers. This is a granular game for a very specific type of achievement-focused player.
There are challenges to get all the companions. There's a collect all the weapons challenge. You could quest to build the best katana(s) or naginata from drops--fallen enemies drop swords, parts and other cool stuff. You can dual wield swords in this and you can earn a lot of in game wealth just by pissing off various factions and then battling 100-man enemy factions.
On the surface the game looks simple, but it's a love letter specifically to Akira Kurosawa films and likely to Majora's Mask as well. There's a wealth of things to do if one does a little bit of research into game mechanics and how those interact with the branching storyline.
Comparing 3 with 4 kind of misses the point since 4 is intended to be more of a wacky historical revisionist joke, while 3 is an homage to a very specific kind of tale.
Still appreciate someone even talking about this forgotten gem nowadays. Thank you for that.

Majora's mask huh, never knew it was a homage truth be told. I never played the whole legend of zelda thing nor found out about the thing enough to realize this.
As for myself, I tend to care more about mechanics first in games.

Lovely review, have been contemplating on whether to get 3 or 4. I prefer 4 more in terms of art style and gameplay but prefer 3 for its era and aesthetic

just got this game+4th to in a package on sale..sadly the 3rd game is so janky controlls so its even hard to run in this game in tighter areas..
So is there any thing thats improved in the 4th game vs 3rd game...
Game seems good enough n looks ok to..But i guess it will just be installed for a long time before i sit down and really try to play it(tried the start of game n seemed ok)

I prefer the fourth game since it finally did the one thing I always wanted from way of the samurai 1, and that's separating sword from styles.
That and the sheer amount of customization+time sistem. It's far wackier in tone than 3 though

I have played the first WOTS more than i played any other game, i don't even think WOTS series is that good but its style of gameplay is so niche i can't think of any other game that's like it.. can you??
