I went to boarding school in South Africa and our rugby coach lived down the hall from us. Every damn day he was there, making sure you did not fk up in anyway whatsoever. No matter that it's 30 years later and that I'm 10 thousand miles away in a different country, when I hear a deep guttural Afrikaner voice, i still get tense.
Yep as a student of boarding school in Australia I can still remember the voice of those boarding masters. I was no good at rugby but it was great to watch and I carry that through to today.
When Springbok rugby was really struggling during the early 2000's, I truly believed that we only needed Matt Giteau at 10 to be on par with the rest of the world again. What a fantastic player he was!
I totally understand why Eddie Jones would like Matt Giteau. The guy was just brilliant. Massive playmaker, versatile, potent with ball in hand, for me is probably the best utility back we have ever see and first centre too. I cannot think of any first centre that can beat hi. To my first XV
And I think Eddie was testing him, which is a sign he rated him and wanted to push him harder. With the drinking thing, I don’t think it mattered if Gitau had a drink or not, Eddie just wanted to see how he reacted to it.
Eddies talking bigger picture. Saying he needs to still keep working hard to improve his skills and telling the team what they need to hear for them to be confident in gitz.
As a coach/manager in sports, you expect them to be a role model, a mentor, someone you can trust. almost a father figure who has strict tendencies, Eddie is just a mini thug, has no loyalties with who he is coaching, will go wherever he is wanted.
He’s a bit of a contradiction Our Eddie , likes to call the shots, it seems to me this his how he tries to control people , ie slightly destabilising them . He also likes to try and put journalists in their place , often comes across as arrogant and supercilious, he’s quite a small fella , who believes he’s super cerebral ….. it’s an interesting way of navigating people .When England are struggling , ( ok we did win a series in Oz ),But we are not Ireland : it can raise a hackle with the common or garden rugby supporter , Rugby isn’t a mind game thing , it’s primal and that’s why we love it 😍
You should run this story past a behaviourist. This is classic coercive abuse and not pleasant to be a part of. One person compared it to being kept hostage: "The victim becomes captive in an unreal world created by the abuser, entrapped in a world of confusion, contradiction and fear." Eddie Jones may have been a great coach, but this type of mental bullying is awful and designed to control the victim to the point where this player even today sees him as such an authority, he checks his behaviour when he's in the room. Awful to listen too, made worse by the fact that he doesn't even realise it's happening.
@995sean What's your experience with psychology? From your trite response, I'm guessing you're young and haven't looked into this form of bullying in any degree or depth. Take some time to, you may be surprised and hopefully learn something.
@@berbababy Giteau obviously has a lot of affection and respect for Eddie Jones and what he taught him and what Jones has achieved, you need to rethink your comments and realise true genius when you see it,Eddie Jones is recognized around the world as a coaching genius, read his book, its very humble and he appreciates totally how fortunate he has been to coach some of the best players ever seen in the world of rugby union, and he achieved it all from a very modest beginning, please educate yourself before making accusations of bullying against the man,you haven't a clue what you are talking about regarding him.
If grown adults in positions of power treat young players (he was only 19!) like this, it's no wonder they go off the rails and have identity issues. This is flat out mental abuse and is a totally shit way to try and get the "best" out of your players.
That is a cracking impression he does of Jones, and no mistake!
Holy shit it's actually perfect
He absolutely Nailed it.

he nailed it
He already causally sounds like a young Eddie anyway. Pretty hard not to sound like him, lol.
+1 🤣🤣🤣
What he meant by “I don’t want you drinking” is basically I don’t want you getting Rugby League drunk with Wendell and Lote Tuqiri tonight. 😂
Probably
Gits's Eddie Jones impression is remarkably good

absolutely perfect Eddie impression
It's called, "Praise in public - criticise in private.."
The basics of managing people but an art that many can't grasp
It's not an impression. It's a spot on imitation.

Tim Horan perhaps? 😂
Agree 100! Australia’s backline use to be a very scary concept
"Eddie loves you mate, your his little love child" burst out laughing🤣🤣🤣🤣
The sign of a good manager. You want to impress them all the time.
Eddie is a legend plain and simple.
I really enjoyed this story
Eddie impersonation is on point haha
Classic Eddie impersonation...
Eddies talking bigger picture. Saying he needs to still keep working hard to improve his skills and telling the team what they need to hear for them to be confident in gitz.
Probably why Aussie rugby is shit.
Better than the other way around, ie, treat the guy like shit in front of the team, but blow smoke up his arse privately. Pure class
I love how he talks exactly like eddie when hes impersonating him😂
Wow. What an impression :)
An Ozzie doing an Ozzie impression. Crack up
Great impression 👏👏👏
Unbelievable impression 👍
Haha Eddy does give off that headmaster vibe. Spot on. Lol. Feel like hell I'm gonna get detention if I'm not careful.
I think he was a headmaster before he was a rugby coach
David s na mate that was Sir Graham Henry he was a headmaster before for Auckland Grammar before coaching
@@theosolipo3809 yeah mate just checked it Eddie was a school principal before he took up coaching
I would’ve said “I guess that’s the dynamics of strategy Eddie” and then gotten shitfaced
This is gold! Now what about Cheika 😅😖
There’s a good one invoking Ben Young’s, apparently Eddie buys him biscuits and throws bags of sweets at him and says ‘do you want em mate?’ 😆
One of Aussie's better players.
Love that Gits is still a bit wary of Eddie Jones even now he has no reason to be!
thanks for the insight
Respect bro.
Great impression tbh ahhaha
Great stuff!
Brilliant.
Sounds really confusing!
Matt giteau is hilarious!🤣🤣
class
Just drink the bloody beer

Agreed. Toxic clown

Imagine Eddie Jones is watching this
Praise openly, criticise privately. Basics
Eddie playing mind games.
Who else was waiting for the punch line
Story was crap but the impression is spot on
There’s “drinking” and “having a drink” and I reckon Eddie was just telling him not to get shitfaced
"He buys me a corona" LOL. Be carefull for the corona virus
Eddie is the best
Jose murinho did exactly the same thing

It’s called playing with your head git’s ;)
Is this... gaslighting? 🤔😂
Mind games; what an egg 😂😂
Giteau wants to be the grey Man!
Was ‘suck my toes’ rugby code for something else? Hmm 🤨🤣
Eddie "Gas Lighter" Jones.
I actually thought that story was building up something.😐
lol, Eddie played you mate HA HA HA

I was under the impression by the title that this story was supposed to be funny, or even mildly interesting.
sorry there no Bigfoot videos on here for ya mate, you'll find em soon enough
Matt Giteau is a wasted talent.
Narcissism ???
just creepy

Praise in public criticise in private . He might be young but consider if he was scolded in front of the team rather than in private.....
Not a very good story teller, this bloke.
He’s literally a brilliant storyteller.
