Great video, George! I too started my smart home journey with the OG Nest. I had no idea I would travel down the smart home rabbit hole…I believe I need a support group 😂

Great video as always, George! I’m excited to try the new Nest. I had the 2nd Gen and replaced it with the Ecobee a couple of years ago. My wife has never liked the Ecobee. She feels like she could use the scheduling functions in the Nest much more intuitively than the Ecobee. When I showed her this a few weeks ago she was excited and said she will eventually want to get this new Nest!

Nice! You really can’t go wrong with either one, but I’m still giving this new Nest the slight edge. Thanks for watching!

@@GeorgeLangabeeryeah, my wife just feels like the app is more intuitive for the Nest. I almost want to install my gen 2 again and use homebridge to get it into HomeKit.

I got mind but I feel like the heat is just comfort temperature. Also how do you make it stop once it reaches its desire temperature without using the “hold”?

Awesome video, I just got mine today and couldn’t be happier, went from the Learning thermostat E to this 4th gen and looks amazing! My thermostat came with 2 sensors, my question is: can I use them just to monitor the temperatures in certain rooms and not set the thermostat off? I live in a multilevel home and there’s a couple rooms that in summer are extremely hot and summer super cold and don’t want my furnace/AC running all day long trying to optimize the temps on those rooms. Great video! Keep it up

first time visitng your channel. I saw the entire content and have 1 question which I have yet to see anyone answer. HOW DO I INSTALL NEST GOOGLE 4TH GENERATION THERMOSTAT ONTO MY EXISTING AND SUPERIOR NEST APP LINE UP? I have a perfectly working third gen thermostat and figure I try the 4th gen thermostat. Granted the 4th gen looks cheaper with side plastic and screen is no larger that previous gens. screen is larger but actuall portion of screen used to project images is same as previous gens. If I cannot get 4th gen on my NEST app screen with cameras, smoke detectors, doorbell IT GOES BACK TO STORE. Please Help

The new thermostat was designed to work with the Google Home App. Google has been done with The Nest App for a few years now.

Do you think it’s better to connect this to apple home with matter or with the starling home hub? Just wondering if you would get more controls with one over the other.

I recently had a new HVAC system installed which includes a Heat Pump. This system services the entire house. I also have 4 zones for the boiler.
The new HVAC system takes control of only one boiler zone which becomes the Aux heat (on a new Ecobee for Pro Premium).
The other three zones are controlled by old Nest Thermostats.
My question is: Using either all Nest, or all Ecobee, can the system be configured to make all 4 Boiler zones be treated as Aux?
I don’t want the Boiler to come on in any zone, when the Whole-House Heat Pump is running, and vice-versa.

An elderly friend of mine was telling me how getting a window unit AC can prolong the life of your full home heat pump. He was able to keep his heat pump working for 35 years because he used the window unit. I’m wondering if there’s a similar benefit to smart home tech.

Can you use both the google smart home and apple home apps with the nest simultaneously? So when you want details you can use the google app, while using the apple app for just a quick adjustment?
