Your video tutorials are awesome. I've been karting on and off for about 10 years and am definitely in it for the long haul. I usually struggle with things like fixing these as my mechanical side is not very good and always apprehensive fixing things. Watching your videos have made things for me so much easier, and I know I understand a lot that I had very little knowledge of. Thanks so much .
Just bought an OTK with rotax evo senior. Thanks for the videos!!! I have 2 weeks to prep for the first race. I think it will be a wet one here in the northern hemisphere.
@@PowerRepublic yeah looking forward to getting out in the damp as long as the rims arrive in time. Maybe you can do a vid about what to lube and do to your kart after a wet race so it does not go all rusty etc. Also do you have one for winter storage?

Great video Dez! If you're interested, milwaukee makes a 3/8 electric ratchet that is simply supreme for working on karts. You can crack bolts loose by hand and then hit the trigger to spin the bolts out with the electric power! Check it out if you dont have one already!

Loving the videos man. Just got my son his first cadet kart, these set up videos have helped me massively. Any plans for a future video on setting up a kart based on someone else's feedback? What to adjust first etc etc? Cheers

Hey Col. if you remove them from the kart, you can wash with degreaser and hot soapy water. then blow out with compressed air. Then re- lube with WD first and then finally some spray lithium grease
Nice tutorial :) one question - you show at 6:32 how to properly measure distance from the edge of axle to correct position it in the middle of chassis, but it's no so obvious how to choose correct point on DD2, because there's only one bearing, and engine on the other side.
thanks heaps for tuning in. i guess on the dd2, i use the chassis rail and a square of the axle to get the correct length. then a good idea is to make a indent or groove in the axle as a reference point for future removal/installs
Hey if I have some semi dirty bearings, how would you clean them? Also at what point are bearings un saveable? Like if they get dirt in the actual piece? Last question then do you need to relube them with grease?
hey cal, you been going hard on the off season race prep!!!! wash them our with some degreaser and then hose them out first with some water and then compressed air. finally use some WD40 then spray in some lithium grease. the inner race will move side to side. not good. normally change em ever 6-12 months, they are not that expensive compared to everything else with go karts. yes, use some spray grease. WD40 is too light and won't last long enough.
I am shopping for some spare bearings. Was looking at SB208/210ZZC4 but found SB208/50ZZC4 as well as many other codes depending on manufacturer etc. What is everyone else running?
Mate this has no reference to this video but would like to ask what your thoughts are I'm planing on running tag 125 heavy but I'm overthe weight limit so I'm already a heavier driver then most do you thing being heavier I would be suited to a 30/32 chassis more then a 30mm
yeah I reckon the big guys, big kart, little guys =little karts. so a 32mm will probably suit you well. albeit off topic hahaha thanks for commenting/watching/sharing the video

we use the standard Tony kart ones, but you can use generic ones from the bearing shop too

Is it typical for a new axel bearing to not spin freely when new? Do they need to "break in" before they loosen up?
Nah they just have been pre greased. Spray them with some WD40 to loosen up the grease
Hey! Is it normal for the bearing til still move around after tightningen the bolt on the casette?

How do you keep your axle from getting rust on it? I find that mine turns rusty once my hand has touched it
Hey Austin, great question, we use 2 stroke oil. just put some on a rag and rub it straight on the axle. leaves them shinny as!
Dont touch with bare hands, some people are more some less problematic, depends
