One this I love about this is how a lathe wasn’t even used and the cup still looks perfectly round to the naked eye. The amount of effort that went into a single cup is honestly incredible.

зажрались, серебро при проточке летит на пол😁. у нас ваще строгий учет драгметаллам. такие чаши у нас делают штампом. затем вручную набивают грани. а этот чудик отжег от усталости и после перед прокаткой обстукивает, зачем? металл уже отжегся ведь! ломкости не будет уже. наши мастера делаю красивее и технологичнее. а этот перед камерой фигню разводит🤣. но инструмент у него богатый и хороший👍

Это может быть также и нейзильбер или мельхиор, сплавы, похожие на серебро.
@@user-cn6vv9xr4n он его не "отстучал", а выровнял по плоскости киянкой. Также это может быть нейзильбер или мельхиор, (хотя серебро конечно лучше для посуды) по-этому такое безразличие к обрезкам. Изготовление чаши без штамповки более аутентично, получаются более неправильные правдоподобные грани. Если штамповку ОЧЕНЬ хорошо отбивать, то да, разница минимальна будет, но сам видел ещë ту халтуру, когда "даже не стараются".

why is it heated and cooled in water between stretching and hammering? To let the material reorganize to new shape, to create oxide coating to make tracking the hammering easier? what metal is it aluminum, silver?
Certain metals undergo what is called work hardening (usually softer metals) where the more you work the metal the harder they get. To stop this you anneal the metal by heating then cooling it again. As for the metal used, I think this is pewter.

i bet it is silver.
steel would be hardened by making it red hot and putting it in water, making forging it barely if not impossible.
also steel even if stainless would create a darker patina when heated to red hot.

Making metal objects by beating with a hammer = cold forging in this case. Cold and hot forging are both included in the broader term smithing.
forging metal is heating it and beating it while hot. the heating he does is to anneal the silver- soften it.
@@lancemillward1912 what I was taught is that what you describe is called hot forging, and this is called cold forging. My frame of reference is from professional jewelers training at a Community College during which I also took a class called Silversmithing (we used copper sheets) that taught the hammer-forming and annealing techniques among others demonstrated in this video. Many are familiar with and use only either hot or cold forging and just call what they do forging.
There are often many terms for a process, depending on where someone learned (about) the skills, like directly being taught welding in an apprenticeship, blacksmithing or jewelry making, going to a trade or an art metals or jewelers school, reading technical manuals. For example, soldering jewelry may also be called brazing, though I have never heard a jeweler say they were going to braze a piece of jewelry.
I am not saying I am the ultimate authority on this. I am just trying to give a more technical term to the poster than beating on metal, since that doesn’t reflect to me the skill knowledge and techniques they are using.

It’s been a while since I watched that video. If he didn’t do any repousse, I’d bet a bunch of money he knows how to chase and repousse up a storm. There can’t be a ton of people making people hand making sterling hollow ware in Korea so I bet he gets a lot of custom orders.

It's ok but would not sell in the UK because of the quality of the work it looks home made , if you planished it smooth and engraved with good patenation and a really good polish people would love it . Keep learning and it will come .

Нужны прямые руки, а не мастерская, будет умение -- сможешь и на костре сделать так же из консервной банки каменным молотком.

Это чашка из серебра 999 пробы сделанная с помощью выкаладки называется райзинг один из способов изготовления чаша образных форт с сохранением толщины дна
Тут ещё имеет смысл ситилизация и эстетик чашки под гранёный камень
